Hi Poly!........wanna cracker?    Or just crack me up side the head for my early morning humor?    Sorry, I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Actually, your post came on the right day.  Yesterday was three months of my being on the BTD.

When I started just before Christmas, I was at 176 lbs.  As of this morning, I'm down to 161 lbs.  I have found, however, that my scale has conspired against me.   The other morning, I hopped on, and it said 159.  Not believing it, I hopped on again, and it was back to reading 161.  Who knew that scales could be so taunting?    Taunts me again, and I might have to coax it with the family sledgehammer.

Even though I had only been on the BTD for six weeks, my blood pressure was markedly lower when I donated blood at the end of January (my other weight-loss program   )  I'm due to give blood again next week, so it will be interesting to see if it's any lower than last time.

Out of the Dental Insights thread on this site, I stopped brushing my teeth with toothpaste.  Right now, all I use is water, and a regular brush.  Since stopping two weeks ago, I've found that my gums no longer bleed when brushing, and my teeth are starting to once again feel like they do right after I get them cleaned at the dentist.  I have to go on Tuesday, so it will be interesting to see what the good Doctor has to say.

One thing that I could not figure out for awhile, is that since being on the BTD, I had been sleeping far more than I used too.  I contributed part of that to the fact that my body was doing its part to heal, and cleanse itself.  I was sleeping 9-10 hours a day.  Over time, I knew that there was something else going on.  Last week, I finally figured it out.  It was not directly related to the BTD, but came about in part because of the BTD.  It turned out to be a feng-shui issue.  My problem was with the headboard and footboards of my bed.  As soon as I got rid of them last week, I've slept for much shorter periods of time, still awakening refreshed, and I'm actually waking up before the alarm clock goes off.  With my body becoming more centered, I had/have become more sensitive to the external energies around me.   Another reason to have the Clan O' Kitties around the house.  Cats will gravitate towards the bad energy areas of the house, and act as a 'ground' to short circuit the negative energies, and restore balance to that area of the house.

After 90 days, many changes have taken place, on many levels.  And I know that there are to be even greater changes on the horizon.  We will see what the future holds.

Verbal Affirmations for the Day:

"All that is mine by Divine Right is now released in great avalanches of abundance, under grace, in a perfect way".

"All that is not for my Good now returns to the native nothingness from which it came, and only that which is for my good may manifest itself in my life, under grace, in a perfect way".

Hi MissileCop,

Great testimonial. Congratulations

I am particularly happy to see that brushing with plain water produced exactly the same results as mine.. Please let me hear wht your dentist says. Mine, oh, he blushed a little and changed the subject

Hey, it's been almost three months into this plain brushing experiment and no comebacks..

cheers,
Yaman

And I thank you for the suggestion about not using toothpaste, Yaman.  And if it hadn't worked, I knew who to blame.

I didn't end up with 'gravel' in my mouth like you did, but then I did have deep scale cleaning back in December and January.  I had some deep pockets, so I'm curious to see if not brushing with toothpaste tightens up the contact between my teeth and gums.  If I'm in one of those moods, I'll mess with him.    If it's all good, I'll just tell him that I did everything that he told me NOT to do. *chuckle*  See what he says to that!

Hmmm...toothpaste.  A conspiracy amongst the American Dental Association, and toothpaste companies to keep both in business.  Teeth look bad, brush more, buy more toothpaste, teeth still bad, extensive dental work needs to be done...... Job security for both.

Oh Debs,

You reminded me of my London days back in 80's, all those funny "what they did before Listerine" posters in the underground stations

Good question though. When I have something smelly, like garlic for example, I chew some fresh parsley, which kills all other smells. A mint/mastic chewing gum free of sugar and sweetener is also advisable. And for even heavier foods, you can have cloves, they are a little bitter, but leave a sweet refreshing after-taste. And you can always use bar soap to brush your teeth if you had something greasy..

I have to shut up before the toothpaste companies shoot me

cheers,
Yaman

Actually, debs, I've found that I have less bad breath, now that I don't brush with toothpaste.  Whether that is because I've stopped using toothpaste, or because I've eaten more in accordance with the BTD style, I don't know.

Maybe it has something to do with not eating so many processed foods anymore.  Or, maybe food stuff particles stick to the film that is left by toothpaste.  In a warm environment, maybe the bacteria of the mouth feed on the food particles, resulting in bad breath.  Because the food particles are no longer caught in the mouth, since there is no film for it to attach to, there is less opportunity for bad breath.  Sounds sensible, but just a WAG on my part.  I'm not a doctor, and I don't play one on TV.

Or, it could be simply because I've tried to make it a habit to rinse after every meal, whether I have a chance to brush or not.

Where are the guys in white coats?  No....no...NO!  Not THOSE guys in white coats, the ones with Dr. before their name.  Awwww...c**p...too late, they've got me!  Hey Guys, do I at least get my name embroidered on that strait jacket....?  Aw....c'mon guys, work with me here!    Well, on the bright side, at least I won't have as much house to clean!

i never used to have much success with eating parsley after eating garlic i'd always get comments like phew! you been eating garlic?
admittedly only used cloves for toothache in the past but found it used to make my tongue go numb in places then i'd end up biting my tongue cos i couldnt feel it.still i supposed it cured the toothache as i had  the pain of my tongue to think about afterwards
are you sure your breath doesnt smell?or do you have very kind  friends?   which i havent
