I'm not sure, but I know that there are some people who prefer to take probiotics first thing in the morning and/or last thing before  bed.

Doesn't the label indicate "take x capsules y times per day?"  Unless it says "away from food" I'd take it right after a meal so the little buggers don't get wiped out by stomach acid.


My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

Yes it says away from foods. This means half an hour before meal or two hours after meal.

Thanks all    so first thing on a morning (at least 20 mins before food) and before bed (or at least 20 mins after food) seems to be fine.  

Yes it does say away from food on the tub but the extra info was very welcome.

Hi,

I know this was answered before somewhere, but I can't find it...

The Polyflora bottle does not say to keep it in the fridge...Why?

All probiotics in Health food Shop come delivered cooled to be stored in the fridge there!
I do keep my Polyflora in the fridge just in case, but the bottle doesn't actually say to do so.

I don't the answer, but I have taken probiotics in the UK before which haven't needed refrigeration so it's not uncommon.

If a probiotic has been stabilized it does not require refrigeration.

The makers of sabilized/unstabilized products all claim their approach is better.

Probiotics are live cultures and are generally unstable at temperatures over 75 degrees. HOWEVER, the temperature inside the body is well over 75 degrees, not to mention that the probiotics would have to pass through hostile stomach acid and bile to get to the intestine.
