Anyone else get nausea from CLA supplements? Wondering if this will pass the longer I take it or does it mean I should stop it? Can't seem to figure it out.

Are you taking them on an empty stomach? Try taking them with food and see if that helps.

I agree with Amazone I. and Ruth.  Only take with food and start with only one a day to give your body a chance to get used to it.

They gave me a major stomachache that took me a while to figure out the cause. Leaving off first one thing then another settled it once and for all that CLA was the one. Chamomile Tea does me exactly the same way. Same pain. For years it didn't bother me in the least, but suddenly I started having the same pain that I had taking CLA. I really wanted to be able to use both of them, but there was no way that I could make them work.

Lipase is an enzyme digests fats....avocado contains lipase.  Can you eat avocado?  I would try taking CLA with some kind of enzyme to digest it or maybe even a lipase supplement.

Oils in supplements can go rancid the same as oils for cooking. CLA should not deteriorate as rapidly as some oils, but they can still go bad.

I would check the freshness date of the bottle. Also split ope a capsule and smell and taste it to see if the oil appeared to be rancid.

Another thought I had, Andrea...Your nausea  reminded me of my own nausea experience..... likely still not gut-balanced after taking a round of abx.  I had to take abx within the past year and the results were nausea for quite awhile.  And did you also have anesthesia from your dental work?  That could cause nausea too!  And doesn't always seem apparent right away. Maybe take a basic digestive enzyme with meals until you're feeling better.  Even bromelain with meals or papaya tablets would be helpful!  Feel better.  {{{{{hugs}}}}

A few people may have some sort of allergy to CLA - that is what I decided was my problem. With Chamomile, I didn't have any problems with it for years, but suddenly the pain developed and was extremely persistent. I have tried it a few times since I gave it up and almost instantly had the same problem. As long as I stay away from things that cause problems, I feel better than I ever have. I worked four and a half hours outside yesterday in high humidity with the temp in the upper eighties and low nineties and physically feel great today. Mentally, I am worried about the outcome of our friend's surgery this morning, and the family of a neighbor who died yesterday evening after a long, difficult battle with diabetes, a kidney transplant, going blind in one eye from a fungus infection, and a host of other problems brought on by this dreaded disease some of which I had never heard of at all. Very, very sad.

My opinion is that CLA is intended for those who are allowed to eat the foods that naturally contain it.  CLA is predominately found in red meat and dairy.  Would you eat red meat and dairy like an O would?  No, of course not.  However, you might have ostrich (not technically a red meat, but it sure looks red to me) or some dairy on your SWAMI?  Mine suggests 2 portions ostrich and 3 portions dairy weekly.  Isn't that sufficient for us Warriors?  Why should we be expected to consume more CLA?  I would recommend eating those foods on a consistent basis.  You should then be getting all the CLA your body needs.

Well, I can have lamb, and it definitely makes me feel great as long as I don't eat it more than twice a week. Of course, dairy is out except for cottage cheese - the fat free version. The other dairy products I'm supposed to be able to eat make me feel worse so I hardly eat them at all.

Natural CLA comes from grass fed animals....but CLA in pills comes from a vegetable oil.  Safflower
I believe.  I never understood how something could be manufactured from a vegetable oil that creates
a substance found in animal products.

I have Walnuts as a diamond.  If I were to eat them, I would have to call 911 and be rushed to a hospital.

Hello, I just wanted to chime in on the closing of the Brooklyn store.  When we opened the DPN store in New York, we had anticipated the law providing licensure to  naturopathic physicians would be passed. Unfortunately, the law was blocked and licensure to allow naturopathic doctors to practice in the state was denied. Because of this, it was difficult for us to have ND's working there in an unlicensed state.  This coincided with the lease renewal, and we opted to close the store as of June 30.

All the patient files will be sent to the COE; people who have been seen at the store will become existing patients of the COE either as a private patient or as a shift patient.  All store customers can order products on line through the website or call customer service.  All medical questions should be directed to the COE, and the COE will respond (the COE does answer phone calls).

If you have any questions, or difficulty reaching the COE, please do not hesitate to contact Customer Service at DPN in Wilton, CT, at 1-877-226-8973.

Walnuts were a superfood for me on another diet, but I wasn't surprised that they are only a neutral on SWAMI. They give me mouth sores and make my stomach hurt. So I eat only a few now and then.
