I have a young friend, 21, who was recently scalped in a freak go cart accident. They were able to reattach the scalp but they still don't know if the hair will grow back. They had to cut her hair within a 1/2 inch of her scalp. Does anyone know what might help...if anything?
Thanks, Leanne |

What a horrible thing to happen to your friend. I don't know anything about whether her hair will grow back, but I do hope it will. I have a friend who lost her hair on the back of her head in an accident. It is not noticeable at all now, but I don't know whether she has learned ways to hide it or if it grew back. I will ask her when I talk to her and report back. |

How frightening. My husband was in a bad accident many years ago with head injuries. His head looked like a baseball all over his head by the time the doctors got through stitching it. The hair grew back everywhere except where the actual stitches are, so he is able to cover the scars with his other hair. I'm sorry for your friend. I don't know the answer to your question. |

What a terrible accident for your friend!! Apparently I had one ear & most of my hair ripped off in a car accident at age 2 & don't really have much trouble with my hair now... I have a double crown, but who knows whether I was born with that anyway?! Zinc helps hair loss... |

I imagine the cellular drink would help. It's good at restoring cells to regular function. 1 tbsp Trehalose1 tbsp Soy Lecithin Granules 1 tbsp Flaxseed oil 6-8oz Grapefruit juice Obviously BTD would be advisable as well. |

if scalped all the way......follicles are torn away and destroyed.......that scar tissue never gets hair growth back...... |

Good grief, Leanne! I'm sure you are being very supportive to her. I wonder if they could do scalp grafts from someone who has donated their body to science. Can you graft hair from someone who has passed away? I don't know. |

The body needs nutrition to heal so I would recommend the blood type specific polyvite and phytocal and I would also take the falx and fish oil. |

I would do the cellular drink, and perhaps ginkgo biloba would be a good idea to get the scalp blood flow good (depends on blood type)
If the hair follicles don't work, perhaps having them transplanted would be an option. (hopefully they'd grow well) It probably isn't super cheap, but it's your hair and looks totally normal. |

She's doing great! Her hair is actually starting to grow back! Her scalp was completely torn off from one ear, over the top of her head to the other ear. You can see the stitches as they go up over her head. They did do some skin grafts. |
