I know this has been discussed at length, and I found several threads on the subject. But I just want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to help my finger heal in a speedy way.
I'm taking abx and pain pills, though I've found Boswellia to do more for pain relief than the prescription drugs. Bromelain on an empty stomach tends to make me vomit, which is extremely unsatisfying, on all accounts. I do have Phloxicin which is part of the anti-inflammation protocol and I have Polyflora which is part of the anti-biotic protocol. I;m taking both.
I'm taking Vit C, but it's a brand from TJ's and I think there might be something better out there. Any suggestions?
I'm eating yogurt, drinking water kefir, taking the above mentioned supps, with the addition of extra magnesium in powder form.
I went to the Emergency room yesterday after getting bitten by two fighting dogs that would have killed each other if I had done nothing. They live together at home and stay at my boarding kennel on a somewhat regular basis. One dog was badly injured, the instigator got away with less damage. The doctor put two stitches to help stabilize the fingertip and wrapped it up with a splint. I see the orthopedist for the two-day follow up tomorrow. |

As for vitamin C, I personally would go with rose hips or acerola berry and preferably see if you can find a pure form that doesn't have added C. I'm afraid that everything that says ascorbic acid would be corn.
Have you tried bromelain with food?
Make sure to separate the abx from the pbx.
I wouldn't touch sugar or sweeteners for now. It's likely going to feed yeast and cause overgrowth.
Larch powder will help create pre-biotics so probiotics will be able to latch onto any good and multiply.
THis might sound out of the box but I think I'd try some cranberry juice or extract because the mannose in it would keep bad bacteria from sticking to the walls of your bladder. Just thinking of die off...and the yeast infections that often follow a long run of abx....When I've taken an abx, I took lots of cranberry extract daily.
I think I would also try to stay alkalized....lemon/water/sea salt....Easy to become overly acidic when taking abx. If you wind up with a white coated tongue, that's yeast overgrowth. Staying alkalized can't hurt you....only help you.
Anything that can keep your immune system strong....mostly beneficials, diamond foods....good healthy fats.
Hoping you feel better soon. I think your goal is to maintain a healthy immune system and avoid yeast overgrowth. And heal your finger which I think is the least of your issues. I've read it can take a year for the body to balance gut flora after 2 weeks on an abx.

Thanks Chloe. I think I have larch powder on hand, too. I'll take all your suggestions under advisement. |

as for healing bones...when I broke my pelvis, I used nattokinase for it's high K2 and took 5,000 iu of D per day. D is more readily absorbed with high K2 which can also be found in many green leafy vegs. but more importantly K2 helps keep calcium out of soft tissue and helps it be absorbed into bone. |

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions!
I take 5000 IU of D3, already, but I don't think it has K2; I'll look for some that does. Or, better yet, I'll look for nattokinase.

If you are inclined to homeopathy, in addition to other suggestions, hypericum is for nerve ending injuries, such as fingertips and tailbones. |

BCAA and drynaria 5:1.
I believe that's what Dr. D recommends. Lola or C_Sharp should probably verify. |

Dr. D Vitamin C (preferably from food derived vitamin) 1000mg daily Branch chain amino acids (500mg each minimum Valine, Leucine Isoleucine)
These nutrients are in great demand in situations of bone breakage. I can testify to their efficacy. They made my recovery from a broken ankle amazingly rapid.

I picked up all the supps recommended here and in the fresh start thread, and have already started to take them. Thanks!
The orthopedist wants me to rest my hand and keep the dressing loose, changing the bandage every two days and the keep the wound dry. Stitches come out in 8 days. Yay!

Well, I pretty soon started on a sizable "dose" of it! And I still don't want anyone to get between me and my TC! Incredible stuff! |
