  I wondering if any one else has experienced adverse effects with Glutamine?  I was taking it to heal my GI system but noticed the correlation between my face reddening, itching, and swelling, especially under my eyes.  It is supposed to be such a helpful product.  I must be getting enough in my diet via meats and my body was just rejecting the excess. (?)
I now have 2 unopened containers of this great product but can't use it, even though I am tempted to try again, but no.

On another note I am doing very well with Butyrate and a Vitamin D emulsion, I tested extremely low in the Vitamin D range.  I am hoping that once my D intake is absorbed into normal levels the healing will really take off!

if not, check hidden ingredients in those not formulated by Dr D

Not all that I mentioned are DPN, yet they are recommended to me by Dr. Nash, purchased through Emerson Ecologics, and there is no other ingredient in the L- Glutamine, it is the straight powder.  I did research online and it sais that it has caused swelling with in 44-50% of people, that is why I figured that others may have experienced this.

I like how you mentioned the hidden ingredients, because the Vit D emulsion that was given to me by my ND has malodextrin in it, which I was avoiding while purchasing supplements under my own knowledge, I found this to be curious.

Isn't Glutamine derived from corn? Pretty sure I had trouble with it too

Glutamine is the most abundant naturally occurring, non-essential amino acid in the human body and one of the few amino acids that can directly cross the blood–brain barrier.[12] In the body, it is found circulating in the blood as well as stored in the skeletal muscles. It becomes conditionally essential (requiring intake from food or supplements) in states of illness or injury.[8]

Dietary sources of L-glutamine include beef, chicken, fish, eggs, milk, dairy products, wheat, cabbage, beets, beans, spinach, and parsley. Small amounts of free L-glutamine are also found in vegetable juices.[8] -Wiki-

I haden't figured it is derived from corn, since its labeled free from corn, soy, etc.. I thought a bovine or maybe fish source.  'The most abundant amino acid in the body, I like to think I'm consuming enough in diet that is why I rejected it, Idk, ultra Explorer.

Malodextrin, I have heard, highly processed so far away from the starch source that the body doesn't recognize it as such, but that seems like tainted waters to me.  

Current fish oil has Gelatin (which is a black dot, once again making me think because of the source, pig, horse?  Yet bone soup w allowables is a dimond, full of gelatin!)
Vgetable Glycerin (just looked up 'usually palm or coconut, OhNo!)
Mixed Natural Tocopherols (usually soy)
Well these ingrediants certainly not doing any good.

In another supplement there is Calcium Hydroxide, Mag Hydroxide and Diglycerides (are these limestone?)

Different reason for categorizing gelatin as an avoid for Explorers I would imagine... Gelatine is often sulfited, whereas the gelatine from bone soup (pardon the pun) is a completely 'nother sort of animal & is healing for the body...
