Magnesium is one of the most important minerals for the body. I learned about it from an acupuncturist (before i knew about genotype diet) for irritability.
I thought he would give me some Chinese herb that was rare, and he said for me to take a magnesium supplement every day, for liver qi stagnation. My muscles would twitch and i had irritability (signs of magnesium deficiency).
He told me heavier, fattier foods strain the liver, as do angry feelings.
The liver is like the gas pedal for the other organs he told me (and a martial arts instructor told me also). So i take magnesium and i find it very helpful for me! |

But didn't you think the "FDA breaking into her home in the middle of the night to arrest her" was funny? That's the point I was trying to make...lol... I thought that statement was hilarious |

Easy E,
I just had to respond to the way your reply was written. It caught my attention because my brother was born with a "steering wheel in his hand" and my father loved each and every one of his cars.
So the analogy that the liver is like the "gas pedal" for the other organs rang a bell. I may get some magnesium pronto.
Gotta help everything keep going smoothly.
Thanks.

Mayflower, great post and glad to hear magnesium did the trick (almost). Loved your FDA joke.
Easy E, I also work with an acupuncturist and the liver/gall bladder and immune are two of main areas. I've been told same about Liver being considered most important organ, also read this in Sandra Cabot's book on the Liver. I'm taking magnesium. First took it about 12 years ago for migraines and it helpled a lot. Now I take it for everything else, just never sure how much to take.
All, I'm curious as to how much magnesium you find works for you? And if you are taking calcium at equal amount or more or less? Lin |

Well, I guess our humor is strange to people in other countries. We don't doubt for one minute that this or that could become reality. There have been enough raids in the past to know what could happen. But we still joke about it to keep our sanity! For my part, I loved the woman's style! I have friends just like her. We need more people like her around. I try my best not to suffer today what might be tomorrow. Sufficient to the day.......Preparing for the rainy day is different from suffering. I never saw any unhappy squirrels running around gathering up the nuts preparing for winter..... |

Oh, good, I'm glad some people saw the humor too.. Hopefully, it won't ever become truth Joyce. I take 200 mg of Magnesium every night with dinner. It helps me relax for sleep. |

I have 400 mg capsules of magnesium. Take one or 2 a day. Works pretty good i feel. I think putting it in liquid is even better prob.
Calcium i use tums for calcium supplement. I don't do it proportionally just guesstimate. Maybe 2 or 3 tums at one time every day to every other day. I used to use them for acidic stomach problems which is what brought me to seek the GTD. Don't use them for this but rarely now, even if eating not the right stuff.

MF,
I know that you posted the magnesium story because it was funny to you but you may not know that having read that post it prompted me to get magnesium in the brand called Calm. It is a teaspoon twice a day and is about 235mg per teaspoon of powder.
I take it in the AM and again in the evening. It does help me sleep better and for that I am grateful.
So just wanted to say thanks.

OK I'm being a party pooper, but be warned! We've already seen supplement banning or dose allowed so low as to be useless. http://www.anh-usa.org/fda-new-sneak-attack-on-supplements/
Joyce, honey, I know about the FDA here wanting and trying to control vitamin supplements..but what I thought was funny was someone actually making a crack about it in a testimonial which I never saw before. That's all. I'm not trying to take away from the seriousness of the FDA interfering at Hogwarts. Sorry if you didn't find it amusing. |

Different salts of magnesium have different uses too. Mg Oxide is good for long term use as a supp in recommended amounts. Citrate and several other types only recommended for short term use. Not an expert on the subject, but any supplement used can cause problems if not used properly. They are very powerful, as are many medications.
But i read that mg oxide is best for long term supp use. |
