Hi, my husband is a type O (Gatherer) and I was thinking about buying the Catechol supplement to help him deal with stress. I was just wondering if it works? I did a search and it seemed like people were saying there were side effects (such as drowsiness)? I'd like to know if it is worth buying or not.

Whenever he gets anxious over something he wants to turn to food or spending money.  It's not so much about the food than it is about the experience for him (going out and buying food)...same goes for buying things. I'd like to help him in any way that I can.

I'm not much of a product-pusher, but I will vouch for Catechol.  Take 4 capsules then go out for a good sweat.  You wouldn't believe how well it works.

You're saying he wants to go out when he gets anxious. A very healthy response, I'd say. Don't fix what ain't broke! I wouldn't look to pop a pill to change what he does when he goes out. If he wants to shop ("buying things"), then send him out with the grocery list, especially since "It's not so much about the food".

I don't see the problem here.

Yes...

Hunters actually have more problems with stress than Gatherers. However recommend he go out and do some sprints for a few minutes, instead of going to buy things. You don't want a gatherer mood eating, or he'll be a fat husband!

Exactly what I meant.

Don't wait for him to feel anxious. Send him out for a brisk walk/jog (I don't know his condition) every morning, ending up at a market with a small grocery list. Pre-empt the O irritability/anxiety that way, because morning exercise seems to achieve that. Eventually the "buying" behavior will probably not have to be linked anymore.

Sorry, I did not explain this properly. When I say he goes out and buys food I mean he goes out to a fast food place and binges - not a healthy response but I can understand him wanting that experience (I used to do it myself - with him).  Also buying things such as getting addicted to buying things online (when feeling down) all the time to the point where he went into debt over it. It's been paid off since then and hasn't been a problem (no more credit cards).  Didn't want to paint him in a negative light because he's not a horrible person because of these things which is why I didn't fully explain.

Anyways, thank you for your input and everyone else.  We talked about it some more and I think that helped more than anything. I don't think we'll be buying the pills - at least not right now.

Yes, you're right.  And he does. I'm too hard on him is the problem. But, we talked about it yesterday and things are better.
