The Cardiovascular Health series book would have the answers. I have the information someplace but it isn't handy. One of the protocols is targeting LDL and has about four items. I think one was fenugreek. My recollection may be incorrect. http://www.4yourtype.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ED065S |

The protocols on the Health Series book (Cardiovascular) are still appropriate and targeted. You could always see if the book is in a local library or bookstore, the information you seek is just a couple pages out of the book. Reading the whole book would explain what is going on. |

Susy, I'm just curious what your total cholesterol is and what are your HDL, LDL and triglycerides? The ratios are more important than the total, but I suspect you know this already |

A doctor told me that the ratio of LDL and HDL are more important than total cholesterol as long as the total isn't way too high. Also, the size of the LDL particles are important. Equally important is the triglyceride level, which can be caused by the body improperly processing sugars and carbs and turning them into fat particles which circulate in the blood stream. At least that's what I was told. All of mine are still too high, but I'm gradually bringing them down with Swami (minus the grains because of allergies) and red yeast rice. I'm also pre-diabetic. I can't take statins because of my liver. If you take either red yeast rice or statins to lower cholesterol, you should also take CoQ 10 or Ubiquinol. Statins can have serious side effects. |

A simple place to start might be the addition of Guggul, which is one of the herbs recommended in the online Cardiovascular protocol: http://www.dadamo.com/protocols/10.htmlAt one point, many years ago, I used this herb for a year and it did significantly lower my total and LDL. |

I lowered my total C. nearly 80 points in about six months by strictly following my diet, increasing the fish oil I was taking and eating more veggies. I also take flax oil and evening primrose oil. Of course, my doctor was shocked. (At least he shut up about putting me on a statin, which wasn't going to happen anyway!) Some people don't have the same benefit I did from fish oil, though. Don't know whether it is the brand or what. I also have a little lecithin every day. And stay away from constipation as far as possible. It has been decades since I have needed anything for that! |

I take fish oil every day, too. I was grinding up flax seeds and adding that to my banana-fruit smoothie every day until I found out bananas are an avoid on both my IgG results and Swami. |

Strangely enough, I can have bananas, and I have ground flax seed every day, too, besides the flax oil. |

LDL was 160 I will have to look for the other numbers.
This is much higher than before I went on the SWAMI diet. |

I take fish oil (from DNP) every day and have a banana - don't do smoothies or flaxseed. Except I make flaxseed bread. |

Cholesterol can act strangely sometimes. Have you been under any unusual stress for the last while? |

O's typically have a higher baseline cholesterol level than other blood types. 220-230 I believe is ok for O's. |

In case you missed my mention of fenugreek earlier: journals.tums.ac.ir/pdf/1046
Quoted Text
The improvement in the epithelial function was correlated with LDL-cholesterol lowering and partly with the reduction in the thickness of the aortic intimal layer. This study demonstrated that fenugreek is as effective as lovastatin in reducing the features associated with atherosclerosis. Acta Medica Iranica, 41(2): 84-90; 2003
http://www.emeraldseedproducts.com/?q=node/35Plus a lot more. I think there were a couple other items in the Cardiovascular Health Series book specific to LDL, but don't have it easily available. |

I went to the 4 your type store, but could not figure out which supplements to take to lower my LDL cholesterol. I cannot afford them all. http://www.4yourtype.com/products.asp?dept=55Diet and exercise are not working for me.
I take that people think that none of the cardiovascular products sold by 4 your type store and linked above would be particularly useful for me to take. |

The products are good. Whether they focus enough on what you are trying to do is up to you to decide. None of them have a primary focus on LDL reduction in a type O individual. |
