I normally use it in food rather than taking supplements.

However, it is available in scienca for people who would rather take a pill.

I've been taking tumeric in spice form.  As you probably know it's an Indian spice and is very good in certain foods.  I get mine from http://www.MySpiceSage.com that has very reasonably priced spices from all over the world.  And they are fresh and last a long time.

I also found it in root form at Whole Foods a while back and sliced it and added it with garlic and ginger for a quick zucchini dish.  It is a mess in the sense that I finally bought disposable gloves when I peel and cut it because the orange stain gets all over the place and is sometimes hard to remove from hands, countertops, etc.

I agree completely with C Sharp as to its benefits.  I use it mainly as an anti-inflammatory root.

I take a supplement called Inflammatrix (contains curcumin, bromelain and quercetin). Because I started all my supplements and diet change at the same time it's hard to say what is working but collectively, it is all working.

Turmeric is a diamond superfood on my SWAMI. I have about half a teaspoon or a teaspoon in my morning omelette, along with ginger and red pepper and fresh onions and garlic and something green (spinach today) and sometimes carrots or beets as well.

It's a healthy spice that I eat as part of a healthy, anti-oxidant rich diet. Overall, these dietary changes have given me more energy and reduced my fibromyalgia symptoms and completely eliminated high blood pressure. It's hard to  identify the impact of a single spice on my overall health.

Besides, it's cheaper to buy a large package of turmeric at Costco than it is to buy it in capsule form.

I add it to my eggs, and with several other spices over meat. I have by own spice mix using the spices given in my swami.   Oh and it is used as a yellow dye.

Turmeric is a superfood for me.  I use it in my afghan spice rub mixture.  I love the color (it stains!) and the odor.  I eat so little of it that I've never noticed any effects.  Maybe it would be nice in some flatbreads made with lentil flour or some other compliant flour.  Now you've given me an idea.

Yes, I guess it is a stir fry.  Very quick and easy to make.

I either use organic virgin coconut oil or olive oil.  Then add the sliced peeled tumeric, garlic, and ginger.  They take a little bit longer to cook.  Then I take two peeled zucchini (sometimes I also use a yellow squash) and either peel the zucchini or if I'm in a hurry just slice it thin and add to the mix.
The zucchini as you are aware cooks very quickly.

Thanks to all for replying..iam currently taking cayenne pepper and i love it..my knee pain was gone ..have lots of energy and i will try taking turmeric with my cayenne supplementfor O's its a SUPER SAVER

I use an average of a half teaspoon of turmeric in my "curry style" fish stir-fries.  Besides being a super-beneficial Genoharmonic, it really adds a note to the chili powder that reminds me of Indian food I have enjoyed.

I wonder if you could just put turmeric in empty gel capsules to swallow, or whether the supplements that are already made up are special or different in some way.  I have a bag of turmeric from the Indo-Pak grocery that I won't use up in a decade.  I could use some help with my joints.

yes O in Virginia- you can, do you have the capsule filling tray, so much easier to do with it.  NOT sure of the real name but you put half the capsule in the holes fill them and slide other half on and your done with so many.

I make a 'dry' curry with cubed (sprouted) tofu that I just love. Is my favorite breakfast! I use turmeric in combination with other "curry style" spices like yellow mustard, ginger, coriander seed, fenugreek, cinnamon, etc but no pepper, since I'm an A and don't tolerate pepper very well. The same technique works with chicken or also with veggies alone or in combos... and of course could make a 'wet' curry too. Turmeric is also good in chicken or turkey soups/stews, and works well in bean, lentil, or split pea dishes.

I increased my use of turmeric for it's anti-inflammatory properties, but I do lots of things for that so hard to tell exactly which things have the most effect. I buy organic turmeric (Frontier Herb) by the bag from a co-op.

But I need to know more about capsule filling products/techniques etc because I have had to cut down on the amount of turmeric I eat/chew because I am wearing braces now. I have what is called a 'chain' which is a type of rubbery thing that they put on my brackets to help move the teeth. And the turmeric makes it turn flourescent yellow!!! I've tried swallowing it just from a spoon, mixed with oil and/or honey. But it still gets all over the chain... so I think I may have to do capsules.

I've googled to find a 'tray' or whatever it's called, but am not confident I've found a good product yet. Anyone have any specific suggestions?

I've never tried putting turmeric in empty capsules, but when my husband has a flare-up of inflammation and swelling in a joint, I fill up capsules with celery seed for him, and also give him pineapple, and rub on DMSO gel. The swelling and inflammation go away. I bought some turmeric in capsule form recently and am going to try it instead of a combo capsule I take of something else with turmeric in it.

Wow, those capsule filling gadgets are pricy but so interesting and efficient!  I don't think I'll splurge on one of those right now, but I will look for gel caps to fill by hand.

Check out the capsule connection [url] http://www.capsuleconnection.com/ [/url] they have the little machine for like 18.00.     They also have vegetable based capsules. The more you order the cheaper they get!  

We put turmeric mixed with a about 1/8th cayenne pepper in the caps....  My cayenne is 140 K scolleville units.  

I get my turmeric from Mountain Rose Herbs  http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/bulkherb/t.html   Its 8.00 for 1 lb of Turmeric which gives you about  1000 filled capsules. This company says they test the herbs for purity. I have not had any bad from them .  

   I take two capsules in the AM and two before bed.  Before I started detoxing and this ER4YT diet and I missed a few days of taking my turmeric, I could really REALLY feel it in my joints.
