but why and how this product is mentioned for all Bt's as an avoid
It seems to be a sort of fiber to enable normal bowl movements....

guar gum is a black dot for me

although deep blue, meaning I should stay the heck away from it, as it exacerbates inflammatory response in my system

for glucan never the less, am very happy adding Trehalose

read all about it......

Isa,
It is my understanding that lectins attach to receptor sites even without being metabolized...  The act of digestion releases them to be absorbed into the blood from which they have access to the areas they do damage to...

ok ok thanx, I've understood but why do they praise guar and carob as similarities for weightloss Both have similar effects and are made of mannose & galactose but it seems carob might have more potencies for allergy creatings

ABJoe,
Where does it say it has a lectin?  In the Typebase it says "no data available."
Just a question...

Spring, I never gave a try till now,I'm very curieuse how it tastes and smells, some say similar like chocolate but I'm not that friendly with chocs, but white choc is something different, sometimes
The effect must be gorgeous... I want to remind that I went for a sort of belly sculpturings with ultrasounds  lately, and there they do recommend guar... with a famous affect... but if carob is out of the same family with the same effects.. à la bonne heure better to let avoids apart...

Quoted from Jane

TYPE A:Secretor:
AVOID: Contains lectin or other agglutinin. Metabolic inhibitor.

Sorry, I read this and assumed the lectin as I didn't know what "other agglutinin" meant...  I see that below it says "No data..." under lectin.  So there must be agglutinins beside lectins...  More things that I didn't know...

might it be that guar has the same effect onto our bt's while agglutinating as it does with other stuffs (used to get creams more creamy and liquids creamy ....
and perhaps Carob isn't that negatively  potent as described in the literature of *food managements*.... instead .....

and yep have to ask for a second time...

I googled about guar as also carob and konjak, all three products are or galactomannane ,glucomannane etc and are to be found in a lot of other plants, stimmulating the immunesystem or are taken for adipositas management... so far I'm asking myselve if those are nearly the same with the same effects, how it can be that one is titled as an avoid when the + - nearly same product called carob is of the same stuff and considered as ok

guar was once bad coz of a contamination with aspergillus... ok here the agglutination and antigen were found but not in guar itself, if I've understood it correctly... so far where is here the difference sorry but I need to understand....

Guar gum come from guar beans

Carob bean comes from carob beans

If we go down the list of beans, I see different ratings on a whole lot of different beans. I can look at two beans that seem similar to me and yet one will be an avoid and one be beneficial.

I usually presume the the avoid bean contains a lectin that I should not have and the beneficial one did not have that lectin.

In general I have confirmed that I do well with beans that are rated highly for my type and not so well with the avoids.

---

I have not done any personal testing with guar gum in comparison to an identical food item made with carob gum to know if I would do better or worse with than guar gum.

-----

Besides the presence or absence of lectins in guar gum versus carob bean gum there to the structure of the gum in the two products. The do have different chemical properties and behaviors.  This is primarily because there is more galactose branch points in the polysaccharide molecules in guar gum.

To my knowledge Konjac is not rated in any D'Adamo diet system.
