Need help from Ab's... Has anyone had any experience taking thee supplements? I have an AB friend who started taking them and it is causing good and bad affects.....looking to give her some advice, but need to hear from others whom have used it to hear how you reacted. I want her to get on the Polyflora AB and Live cell - would you recommend anything else? Should she be taking the spirulina and chlorella while she takes the DPN supp.'s? Thanks for your help |

first find out how these rate for her type
the source of spirulina needs to be organic......as are all DPN sups
she should follow her plan best.....teach her, give her the book for xmas |

She felt great when she started to take them, and then stopped for some reason (not sure why), then when she stopped she got majorly stopped up so she started back on them. Well then she started having way too many bowel movements - like 4-6 a day! So she stopped taking it again, and NOW, she has major stomach pains and headaches. I just think her flora is messed up and she needs to get balanced again. my opinion. |

Lola - I am teaching her slowly, and she has the app, but "friends" are the ones whom are the hardest to teach! Just looked up all the protocols for AB's...nothing about spirulina anywhere. |

OK, so I am not an AB, but I do have experience with algae. I used to sell a product called Super Blue Green Algae back in the mid-1990's. Algae, like Lola says, should be in its organic form. Algae has powerful detox properties. In fact, when the nuclear accident happened at Chernyobl, much of the supply of different types of algae was sent to Russia to help detoxify the exposed population. My recommendation would be to have her continue with the spirulina or algae, if she wants, but to cut the amount she is taking way back and build the amounts up slowly. She probably has some cleansing to do and that is why her bowels are wacked out. Her body is trying to rid itself of the toxins. The body will generally detoxify through the bowels, urine or sweat. She should be consuming a lot of water to help the process along. |

My experience with spirulina is that it is very gentle. However chlorella is different, I was taking it & throwing up or feeling like I had to lie down with nausea - then realized that was when I was having it on an empty stomach. Started having it 3 x a day 30mins after food and no troubles... HTH's. Agree organic is best, and the more frequent bowel movements are pretty normal at first I hear. |

my swami has taken me off the kelp and bladderwack, now I'm to use Irish moss, wakame, and spirulina. The spirulina is the only one I've found. It's organic powder, by the pound. So what seems to be the best way to take this stuff. I've heard all the smoothie things, and sorry but smoothies really aren't my thing. Does it matter if it's cooked? |

You may have to substitute compliant ingredients
4 mashed bananas 1 cup ground pumpkin seeds or chopped nuts 1/2 cup soaked currants or chopped dates 1/2 cup tahini or almond butter 2 tbs. lecithin 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 tsp. Spirulina powder
Mash all ingredients together. Form into balls or logs then roll in chopped pecans.
Chill |

Well, I ended up just spooning it on tip of my egg, and veggie.
different but I can live with it.
swami doesn't say how much to take, I believe it is referring to the plant and not powder. |

Well I'm enjoying a super green cocktail of a breakfast right now using some organic spirulina. In a blender:2 collard greens handful of mixed baby greens 1/2 cup mango 1 banana 1 tsp. spirulina 1 tsp. larch powder 1 tsp. ashitaba/barley grass powder 1 oz. goji berry juice Blend for 30 seconds, DELISH! While drinking my smoothie, I take cod liver/butter oil caps, type O vitamin & calcium, Hunter activator & catalyst & Deflect. Yeah this little combo will keep me full and energized |

I don't think that 4-6 bowel movements a day is "way too many." That's only problematic if the texture or consistency isn't "normal." Having diarhea and having to run to the toilet every half hour or less is "way too many." |

I used to make green smoothies with 1-2 cups of greens but only 1/4 cup of berries, and stevia to sweeten (before I knew my secretor status.) I'd probably use molasses now, or just drink it with far less sweetness to it.
You don't HAVE TO use all that fruit to make a green smoothie. It's just a convenient way to get fruit servings in, for those who are supposed to eat large quantities of fruit each day.

It's also way convenient for those of us that need to eat lots of greens and veggies during the day. My swami recommends A LOT of green foods servings per day. |

So far I just haven't found a green smoothie which I like. The powdered spirulina say serving size is 28g. measured out that's almost 1/3 cup. That would make a very strong smoothie. So what other ideas does anyone have. |

Hmm well 1/3 cup of spirulina sounds like a ton! With a juicer, I'd go with 1 apple, handful spinach and 1 beet (a delicious tasting combo) then stir in some spirulina into your cup of juice. How about apple or pear, carrot and ginger? That may be tasty too. With a blender- you can do 2 leaves of kale (take out the ribs) and 1 banana. Also a delicious combo. At about 20 seconds of blending, take the lid off and drop in some spirulina and let it blend for the last 10 seconds. |

If anyone is having or suspects a thyroid problem, all cruciferous veggies should be cooked and not consumed raw. They will adversely affect the thyroid if taken raw. If I feel like having a smoothie, I will put in cooked greens. Cook enough for 3 days, easy to pull out of the fridge. I don't know what it is, but I'm not overly fond of smoothies. Probably because my taste buds expect a nice, smooth milkshake! When I have an apple in the morning, I take a bite and then "pour" the contents of a chlorella packet into my mouth, chew and proceed to eat my apple. It helps with the insulin rush from the fruit. I've done it with bananas as well. |

Smoothies aren't my thing either. I don't even miss ice cream. This is one reason I don't do protein shakes. I don't like cleaning the blender (or the juicer for that matter) I will probably look for a way to mix it with spices and have just a teaspoon or two at a time. I wonder if that's even enough to do any good. I'd really like to know an alternative food. |

DebbieLynn- both my husband and I have noticed a significant decrease in the quantity of foods that we need to function. Especially him, he was always famished but with eating red meat he is satisfied. I'm always surprised at how little he eats for dinner now. He was the type who would eat a huge dinner and a few hours later scrounge around the kitchen for a sandwich!
When you eat specifically for your body this coupled with the quality of the food makes it so that you require less quantity. |
