Hi I just started taking Deflect about 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden recently, I started getting really full fast and indigestion. I was just wondering if it was a common side affect. I stopped taking it and I still have some indigestion but I am not uncomfortable. I know years ago when I tried a detox (not from here) I had a similar affect so I am wondering if this is the same reaction. I don't usually eat stuff off my diet but all the veggies we grow in the summer tend to be off my diet so I decided to buy Deflect. I am type A. Thanks! |

When are you taking the Deflect and is it with or without food? |

Hmmm. The reason I asked is that when Deflect is taken with a meal, it helps with lectins eaten, and when Deflect is taken away from food, it helps with past-lectin damage. Dr. D does not advocate using Deflect to "allow" avoids to be eaten, though. Perhaps you should plant an A-friendly garden next year. BTW, go to Member Center and choose a blood type avatar so folks can more easily see what your blood type is...it helps us to help you better. |

Thanks. Will try to work towards a more friendly garden What are your thoughts on a detox? In the past I have eaten many foods off my diet until discovering BTD. I do have health concerns. Fungus, dry nails, rosacea(?) although mild. |

If you have health concerns, I would definitely suggest you avoid the avoids. Why poison yourself? Even with Deflect... It could be a detox reaction, too. Many folks have talked about similar issues when detoxing. Perhaps some of them will wander by and give their experiences... |

Yes,you are correct. Most of the time I do avoid avoids. I just thought as a safe guard and because I had, before discovering the BTD, eaten stuff on the avoid list, I would take Deflect. I think I will finish out my bottle and start taking them at night. I saw on another thread it was suggested (maybe by you?) to take at night.
What does the 1 mean after the A? Thanks! |

Thanks for choosing a shield. Deflect taken on an empty stomach (I take 2 just before bed) helps heal past lectin damage. Blood types A and AB can either be sub-type A1 or A2; I'm an A1, and this was determined when I had a full serotype panel done back in 2006. Google the A sub-type and you'll find more information than you probably want! |

When I detox, ( which I am doing now with the liver combo pack) the first thing I do is break out in a rash on my face and arms and get a major headache. It is called the herxheimer reaction. I have keratosis pilaris on both upper arms and this becomes worse, but then partially clears up. I don't get indigestion, but am not as hungry. Have made many trips to the bathroom though, but how else is the junk going to escape. The indigestion is probably from avoids. I only get heartburn or gas when I eat avoids. I have been on BTD/ SWAMI for a little over 3 years now and the longer I am on the plan, the less I can tolerate any avoids. I went on a cauliflower kick a few months back, figured even as an avoid it is a veggie, how bad can it be? I had swelling and inflamation in many body parts but especially the feet. Decided it was just not worth the pain. Good luck and hang in there, avoiding the avoids will get easier over time. |
