Knife-edge wrinkes....I never had a problem with wrinkles until hyperthyroidism started. Now that I'm cured, they're still here (1 1/2 years) What the @#$%^&?? happened to me? No drop in estrogen levels (im not perimenopausal).....so what can I start doing about this? I have very strong forehead muscles and will never consider botox. And that self-facial life through massage doesn't do a thing for me. I look old and angry now. My skin is getting drier too. #$%^&!!! |

Sorry, can't really help since I have gorgeous skin (sorry, can't help but brag about the one good thing about me ) but eventhough my skin is good, I did see it get even better with the Genoma skin care products. Maybe you should try it. Some people here have had good results with coconut oil as a facial cream. As for the dryness, try a natural soap, they don't dry out your skin as much. I use the facial soaps from Hickory ridge organics (they are an American based company with beautiful organic products, I love their deodorant as well). I use it in turn with the facial cleanser from the Genoma skin care (my skin and face loves to have variety). |

My daughter has been using emu oil on her face and stretch marks with great results. Also, I make a point of never pointing out my flaws to other people, most of the time it isn't something they notice, unless I point them to it lol . |

I have sensitive skin and started using coconut oil on my face. While the oil helps me topically, I found that eating 100% compliant foods help the most. Give yourself some more time on the diet and see how your skin and overall physical condition changes. |

Ahhhhh......I see *ahem*.........well don't get me wrong, grey rabbit....I do like my strong forehead muscles. It just seems like the collagen under them in a couple places broke down all of a sudden. I really don't know what I look like to other people at this point. Only have pics of me from 2 years ago with a completely smooth forehead. These wrinkles have "set in" - I don't think it was just from worry and stress. |

I have oily skin. I had terrible acne and my cheeks were heading south as well as turkey neck after my weight loss. I personally have been using DSMO and citric acid. Seems to be doing wonders for me. It has removed my flaky skin as well. |

My sister looks like a prune. And I'll tell you why. She does not drink water. So are you drinking water? 64 oz per day? Are you also a sun worshipper? |

Yes we do have great skin. I've been told that more than once. Well at least we do have something..to make up for being thrifty. But I have to say I do take care of my skin. I always did. I don't bake for hours in the sun, I use moisturizer, night creams. I exfoliate. And I try to drink that 64 oz of water every day. |

There are all kinds of products out there on the market, but I am not sure they work, however.
Unfortunately age and SOME wrinkles go hand in hand. I am told I have beautiful skin, but trust me, I have wrinkles.
I like the water idea. 64 oz sounds like a lot, however. Didn't I read somewhere on the forum about consuming a certain amount of water per pound of body weight? Does anyone know that formula? |

OK, so this is my take. It's probably genetic. Take a look at your parents, and ask them when they started to find wrinkles to be a problem.
Although I didn't get the "skinny" gene, I DID get the "look young" gene. I just turned 49, and most think that I am in my 30's, mostly due to the fact that I have very few wrinkles. My Mom is the same. HER mom, was, also, the same. So, genetics play a BIG part in how you age.
IMHO, sun exposure causing aging is a bunch of BS perpetuated by the sunscreen and cosmetic industries. I was a professional horse trainer for 15 years and spent all of those years outdoors in South Texas WITHOUT ANY SUNSCREEN! I was tan, tan, tan...especially on my face. I don't believe in sunscreen and did not then, nor do I now, use it. It's clear that years of heavy sun exposure have not caused me to wrinkle, again, probably due to my genetics.
I don't use anything special on my face at all. In fact, I use plain old grapeseed oil (the kind that you can buy by the gallon in the food dept. at Costco) on my wet skin as my only moisturizer. I saw some extensive study on TV that showed that, virtually, no cream was better at hydration than any other, so using the cheapest was the way to go. I don't like the fact that, with all lotions, moisturizers, etc., you're usually paying for water and baby oil. I like grapeseed oil because it doesn't have an odor and because it is slightly astringent and soaks right in when mixed with the water on wet skin.
I would never spend money on expensive oils...oil is oil is oil, IMHO, and when mixed with water on wet skin (in other words, I turn off the shower, and, while still in the shower and before I grab a towel, I run grapeseed oil all over, including my face) it becomes, essentially, lotion. |

I agree with EquiPro. I come from a family with really lovely skin on my mother's side. Most of it is genetic. I don't do a whole lot either, although I do buy lotions. Most of us in our family have very nice skin. In fact I have a cousin who is in his 60's who tells me that every morning when he wakes up and looks in the mirror, he says, "Thank you, Nana!" Nana was my mother's mother who had amazing skin until the day she died in her late 80's My mom is 92 and still has beautiful skin! EquiPro, I have a question about the grapeseed oil. I tried it on my body when I got out of the shower, in place of body lotion, so I was not towelling it off. It got on my clothes, particularly my FAVORITE jeans. I washed and dried my jeans and there is an now an oily smell I cannot get out . Have you had this problem with the oil either staining your clothes or making them smell? I have tried everything to get the smell out, such as baking soda and a small amount of bleach, but nothing has worked. Maybe I should try white vinegar? I love those jeans |

I'm a badly aged Hunter; I went on a mission to smooth my skin a few years ago and this is what I came up with: Retin-a, purchase from All Day Chemist or Medsmex Zinc Sunscreen with at least 18% zinc antioxidant topicals (don't use one much myself, a "day" product) Copper Peptides-- hard to work with but an interesting, promising product: http://reverseskinaging.com/copper-peptide-regeneration.htmlTCA peels http://www.makeupartistschoice.com/Facial Exercise http://www.flexeffect.com/Facial microcurrent facelift http://www.tuatrendface.com/Take supplelements like vitamin C and MSM. I believe hormonal loss is a big factor and use bioidentical estrogen and progesterone. Testosterone loss may also be involved. You might want to supplement DHEA, a testosterone precursor; 10 mg I've read is a safe dosage for females. Diet & exercise of course play a role. I've been doing intermittent fasting the last month and exercising a lot more intensely lately; I've read this helps release human growth hormone. I think you are an A...... you could probably still do an intense workout like kettlebells: http://www.dragondoor.com/http://www.dragondoor.com/dv040/I use some but not all the products listed. |

You may be using too much oil. 1 tsp does my entire body. I use 1/2 and 1/2 grapeseed and extra virgin olive oil. 1 tsp in one hand, palms quickly rubbed together and then skimmed over the whole body. Then I go back and massage it in better. I pat dry with a towel, but don't rub it off. |

There is a lot you can do, you might as well! Yeah coconut oil is nice but no it doesn't reduce wrinkles. I've had pretty good results with Retin-a, copper peptides, peels, sunscreen, the Tua Trend, bioidentical hormones, intermittent fasting (combo of Hunter diet and system called The Warrior Diet, not same thing as Warrior genotype), and intense exercise. I should use more supplements but don't |

EquiPro, you are right that it is good genetics that have given you good skin, you are wrong if you think that sun exposure does not damage the skin. 15min. of sun a day is good enough to get plenty of vit. D, beyond that, you are just asking for trouble. When skin turns darker, inside each skin cell melanin is desperately trying to protect the DNA of that cell. If this DNA is damaged, skin cancer can occur - just like with the GTdiet, with the food we are selecting, damage to the genes happens when they are exposed to something harmful. Sun exposure also causes clumping of elastin fibers which causes leathery skin. Sun over-exposure also temporarily depresses the immune system causing DNA damage. You are lucky, and I hope for your sake your luck holds out. I have a friend who also does not believe tanning causes skin cancer, she too seems to have good genes that protect her cell's DNA, some of us do not. More about skin color |

I buff the coconut oil into my body with an exfoliating cloth - similar to what I would do with body wash on an exfoliating cloth. I use the coconut oil in place of body wash/soap since it saponifies and has antibacterial, fungal, and viral properties.... similar to antibacterial soaps. My skin has become totally soft since then and absolutely no itchiness or irritation. After the buffing, I just let the water rinse away whatever it rinses away since I am oil cleansing my face. My skin basically has a waterproof barrier with a bit of water on it. I just towel off like normal and that is all. Since coconut oil melts at 76 degrees, the hot water from the showerhead takes away any greasiness. It does not have a scent so if you want scents, mix in some essential oils. I missed the smell of body wash and shampoo so I put some lavender oil in mine.
After I rub the grapeseed oil on and in, I DO towel off before I put on clothes, and there can be an oily smell to some of my towels, so it could be the problem. Usually a few washes of the towels takes care of it for me, so I'm not sure beyond that. Sorry!

My face has become softer and glows from the inside since my topical coconut oil use. I know eating it is helping my skin, too. I am no longer dry and ashy after washing my face or after a shower. My skin is much more balanced. I have super dry skin that seems oily because it does not exfoliate on its own b/c of the dryness. As a result, I would get pimples and irritation. If I use the wrong product, I would break out like crazy.
I used to use RoC which has retin-A. It made my skin feel tight and caused me to believe it was working to prevent wrinkles (I hardly have any and people think I am at least 10 years younger). The coconut oil does not give you the tightness that the Retin-A gives you.
The coconut oil has made my skin really moist and soft which the RoC could not do. I used to have to load on so much dry skin face creams just to make my skin feel moist. It sucked because nothing worked properly. But now, I do not have that problem.
If my skin feels tight after oil cleansing, I just dab on a tiny bit.
Victoria is right. You have to use very little oil. When I started out, I was using way too much. It is a learning curve but once you master it, it is soo easy! |

Grey Rabbit, I agree with you on this one. I've had a few moles that i've had to have removed because of suspected skin cancer, thank god they were benign!. In my early teens i lived in Florida and i did tan, i'm grateful now that we only lived there for 2 years. When we moved to California i used to try to get tan but i'd just burn than peel, i cringe now because they say most of the damage done to our skin from the sun is from exposure when we were younger. Up til we moved to Florida i lived in places where it rained alot like Scotland. Now in my early 40's i get guessed many times to be at least 10-15 years younger, i attribute most of this to avoiding the sun not genetics. When i was in my early 20's is when i had my moles removed and after that i became religious about daily sunscreen. I've seen what sun exposure can do to the skin, especially people my age i can always tell when they were sun worshippers when they were younger. My friends mom and grandma have had so many problems from years of sun worshipping, all kinds of skin growths removed and cataracts!. In a way i think not being able to get a tan has saved my skin. Mickey BTW, I don't have any wrinkles, just a couple fine lines under my eyes. |

I'm pretty wrinkled compared to my little sister. She's lived in the midwest most her life, me, the SW. She's worked indoors, me outside.
I have found a wonderful sunscreen from a local herbalist: white birch, astragalus, green tea, sesame oil, safflower oil, shea butter, zinc oxide, beeswax, vit. E and a variety of essential oils.
I've also started using the coconut oil like passionprincess, I like it and I think my skin is a bit more moisturized by it than by other things.
The skin is an incredible organ, very waterproof by itself, it is very difficult to penetrate, so all the claims that this product or that product removes wrinkles is pretty silly. I think the very best thing to do is go from the inside out, with the BTD or GTD or swami! |

Coconut oil is a neutral on my swami. After reading through this thread i want to try it all over, now. I usually use almond oil (a diamond) for moisturizing and love the smell. Just curious if the coconut oil will be better? |

You go ahead because as for me - an eplorer - I know I cannot eat it, so it should not be absorbed into my body? Erring on the side of caution, here. I got a huge endorsement for Emu oil, however, which is a superfood I haven't even tasted yet. I think anything superfood will be "super" for skin. |

olive oil, lemon juiced, and sugar, and rub on face and neck, and message in with dry wash cloth, leave on until you think of it again, then rinse off with hot water, and then splash with cold water to close the pours, and put a thin layer of olive oil, lightly over area and smile! (I store above mentioned in frig) |

so what can I start doing about this? I have very strong forehead muscles and will never consider botox. And that self-facial life through massage doesn't do a thing for me. I look old and angry now. My skin is getting drier too. #$%^&!!!
Many years ago I started to STOP my self from making those wrinkles.. it worked in no time.. I think even too late as in now, you could do the same.. take some clear tape and apply it across the stretched out skin over the forhead.. at least you will not make them worse.. IT only takes days to get used to doing new things.. Try it, it might work even when to late.. Years ago I started to be very aware of my facial expression.. I once looked in the mirror when I THOUGHT my face should express real surprise and happiness.. instead it showed a wrinkled angry mess.. do this as you sit as a passenger in a car and flip down the mirror without moving your facial muscles.. I found that while I smile in a hurry .... MY FACE MUSCLES don't show any smile until I grimace.. I LEARNED to do that all day long.. and still my face does not express a friendly demeanor.. I learned from that years ago, that people react to how one looks, and much unhappiness comes from having such different 'faces' then those who are seemingly more animated or have more responsive muscles.. as for cream and potions I have no need, but I do use Vitabath top to bottom for the last 45 years and love it, I also use hair conditioner every two days on my hair and then on my skin to wash over my.. that is more then enough. Posture is another such thing we should all "FEEL" it portrays who we are even more then the face.. IF we walk tall and confident then others respond to that long before they even see you coming.. happened to me lately, where I felt good, looked ok, walked through the sun from behind so they could not see my face, but I got applause.. at 67 that is pretty good.. |
| When I see other peoples medicines schedule-I am happy to be here taking care of my health I only wish to drop weight more easily-life would be perfection Being 'here' creates understanding. BTD prevents damage from eating avoids. Thanks Dr D & your sups - all support and friendships |

Seraffa, I have had phenomenal results with "The Japanese Skincare Revolution". Get that book and prepare to look younger, no joke. I'm being serious.
The techniques I've been using from that book have really improved my skin in just days! Fine lines I've had for years under my eyes are disappearing.

You go ahead because as for me - an eplorer - I know I cannot eat it, so it should not be absorbed into my body? Erring on the side of caution, here.
I also agree. If you cannot eat it do not put it on your skin. |

Grey Rabbit, I just ordered some of the sunscreen you told me about. I am so grateful to you for sharing! I soooo can't wait to use it!! She says it even tightens pores- Woot I noticed she uses lunar cycles to plant her herbs and uses solar energy. I'm very impressed. Passing on the good vibes... http://www.SisterRootMedicinals.tk |

Retin-a, sunscreen, TCA peels and exercise! OP is an A so you need to exercise more moderately but definitely do something cardiovascular; you need to to raise your HGH levels. Fasting is good for this also. I've had great success the last year and a half with a DIY face exerciser called the Tua Trend. I have used both the Tua Viso and Tua Trend; currently I use the TT. I was accused of having a threaded face lift at work, for real! http://www.tinarichards.com/A fabulous $300 purchase, worth every penny! |

I like the water idea. 64 oz sounds like a lot, however. Didn't I read somewhere on the forum about consuming a certain amount of water per pound of body weight? Does anyone know that formula?
Yes - The recommended amount of water consumption is 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight per day. So, for example, if you weigh 140 pounds, you should consume 70 ounces of water daily. However, if you don't regularly drink a lot of water, it's a good idea to gradually increase your intake so you don't throw off your electrolyte balance. |

I used to tan outside & at the "electric beach" when I was in my teens. I've since had several abnormal moles removed & have been keeping my butt out of the sun for a good 15+ years, even though I live in a place where it's sunny about 300+ days a year. I've been lucky in that I have only a few lines around my eyes. (I'm a BIG smiler!) my only "big wrinkles" are the two lines right between my eyebrows due to several years of more stress than I'd wish on anyone. Things are great now, stress is way down, but it definitely took a toll between my eyes. My teenager always asks, "Are you okay? You look angry." I'm not angry... I just have angry eyebrows. My solution? Bangs! They're just long enough to cover those pesky lines! |

I found a site on kombucha that stated it is rich in hyaluronic acid. I do notice my skin feels firmer when I drink it everyday. When I have enough mushrooms I will blend some with oats to make a mask! |

I always kept my butt out of the sun. I'd never wear a thong bikini in public! It was my arms, legs, shoulders, and face that got exposed. |

She recommends what she calls a "lotion mask". Basically using toner on a special type of cotton and then leaving on your face for 3 minutes. This allows your skin to soak up all of the product deeply. That one tip has greatly improved everything, like lines, suppleness, etc. This is what I use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UZF5YGShe also says that facial/neck skin needs a break once per week. She calls it skin fasting. Meaning using no products at all for 24 hours. Just rinse with water. This gives your face a break from a constant barrage of products. I'm actually skin fasting today. I do it every Monday. I love her book. Totally real and no-nonsense tips! Lots of great stuff. |

I recently read a really slack face is caused by a loss of HGH and testosterone. Topical treatments help but the real cause of looking older is probably linked to hormonal decline. |

i skiped the rest of this so some one may already have mentioned rose hip oil. they use it in alot of the anti aging/wrinkle creames. it is used to firm up skin and reduse age spots. it is not cheap but i think would help both the wrinkles and the dry skin if you use it pure. |

I just found what may be the most amazing wrinkle removing product I've ever heard of. It's homeopathic and works on the energy fields instead of on the physical skin. It is called Ageless Secret Gold: http://agelesssecret.com/Look at the befores and afters, really makes you think!! We've been told that wrinkles are caused from stuff we either do or don't do to our skin- the physical aging process more or less. What if there's a lot more to it than that? In my most recent drivers picture I have no lines whatsoever from a very careful skincare regime yet don't think I actually look younger! |

Hi again (sent you a PM). This sounds very interesting.. have you had more success with this than the other products I wrote you about or do you feel it is everything combined? I like this better than doing hand exercises stretching the thin facial skin.. (that scares me!!) |

i'm a badly aged Hunter; I went on a mission to smooth my skin a few years ago and this is what I came up with:
Retin-a, purchase from All Day Chemist or Medsmex
the prices between All Day and Medsmex are shockingly different! Makes me wonder if All Day is selling an authentic product..

I've been doing standard/conventional physical based treatments for wrinkles for about the last year and a half. Haven't used the Ageless Secret product but it is verrry interesting and really calls in to question everything we have been told about aging. You just spray it on and your wrinkles start to disappear yet the product contains no active ingredients whatsoever. |

I hope someone tries it. I am a total sucker for the new "miracle" cream. My skin is so blah. I have tried a few creams and haven't found one that works great. I found my diet change worked better than most creams in the past. Plus, I have total old lady hands! Most people guess I am younger than what I am but when they see my hands that a whole other story. |

Am I the only one who finds nothing impressive on that website? The products tm don't list ingredients, and the photos are not that great either I reallly wanted to get on board with it - the idea of a product working with your skins energy field may sound woo-woo to some, but I love that idea lol! |

I'm going to a cosmetic surgeon today to ask what products will help these fine wrinkles under my eyes because I don't have the money for surgery.. so I'm going to ask about TCA peels, retin a, etc.
the consultation is free and whenever I get the money, I'd like to do it, but in the meantime.... |

I think the pictures are quite impressive. I have been doing standard physical based wrinkle reversal for over a year and I still look 40. The point of ASG is that it's not just about removing lines from your face but re-energizing your aura so you look younger. Very woo- woo I know but I'm open to that type of belief. There's a whole thread discussing it on Essential Day Spa: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=39478In comparison to the totally natural oldies check out Cindy Crawfords botoxed & filler filled face! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/fem.....osmetic-surgery.html |
