I just started taking DGL chewable tablets.. Anyone experience side effects from this supplement? Since I started taking it this weekend I had a horrible headache and now I was seeing double for a minute, but didn't take any today.. I don't know whether it was from the DGL or something else. |

Make sure to read all of the ingredients. My husband bought me some without doing so and I wasn't any brighter as I did not either! It had a few avoids in it, dextrose being one...affected my digestion and made me tired. A bit of a sore head but no double vision. |

Thanks Dianne.. My name is Diana I had a bit of a sore head all right. One of the worst headaches, I've every had since before the BTD. The ingredients seem ok, fructose, xylitol, cellulose, stearic acid (vegetable source), maltodextrin, silica and natural flavors. Maybe the silica? Plus it has stevia, glycine, and DGL. |

The maltodextrin (corn-derived in the US, at least) would have done me in... |

I don't usually have any problems with corn, corn syrup, or anything about corn Drea...except weight gain if I eat too much of it. Is maltodextrin the same as barley malt? Isa, you're right. Dr. D gave me the licorice solid extract and I was taking that no problem but when I saw the GDL, I thought it would be the same thing with more convenience.. Not So far no double vision today. My boss thought I was going to pass out..when I drank water, it cleared up 30 seconds. Can't be dehydration, I drink 44-60 ounces a day of water. I don't have BP problems, in fact my BP can go too low.. like 90/60. |

Update: Well I haven't had any episodes of headaches or double vision since I stopped the DGL. I don't know if it's the brand Now, or that it's DGL. I'll stick with the Solid Extract I get from NAP |

I recently took some Licorice Root and my liver area hurt bad with shooting pains for hours. I won't touch the stuff again. Couldn't find any reference to this anywhere on the Web.
Also, I have had a Doctor prescribe non-DGL licorice (the potent stuff) in the past and it causes my adrenals to go bananas (in a bad way). Its like having way, way too much caffeine.
I did find out that Licorice is a classic Chinese medicine herb. I suspect from other experience that I do best on Northern European based items, and this adds to that suspicion. |

I like the Zagarese Organic Licorice pellets. No ingredients besides licorice. They aren't chewy like the kind with wheat flour .. just little tic-tac sized bits that you can suck on as they dissolve in your mouth. My health food store carries them, or they're on sale sometimes on Amazon.com. http://store.organic-licorice.com/box-orig.html |

I think men grow breasts if they OD licorice. Kind of like lavender.
Not sure whether this is true, though.. |
