Two things, really.  A friend was asking me about this nutrient/product

http://www.dmgdoctor.com/dmg.php

I guess because someone probably recommended they take it.

I keep trying to tell people that I can never recommend off the rack health advice that's supposed to be great for "everybody" without checking the supposed wonder drug/nutrient through BTD SCIENCE first.

I searched the entire site and I did not find it mentioned once.

Thoughts, senior members?

In advance.

P.S. My mom, Type O, has Alzheimer's/dementia. I know she's on some medications meant to help slow her disease but I don't know what they are at the moment.  I'm going to be going back home to Ohio soon, to help assess if she needs to be put in assisted living and I'd like to try to get her on some recommended supplements.  The protocols recommend Catechol for cognitive function.  Anything else, besides trying to get her completely off killer wheat? In the mean time, I'll check the archives for posts on Alzheimer's/dementia.

DMG(Dimethylglycine) is supposed to work by being a methyl donor (thus increasing methylation).

Since the GenoType book strongly emphasizes the benefits of methylzation, I presumed if there was a miracle pill that always worked to increase methylation, Dr. D. would have mentioned it. Instead he seemed to recommend that we alter diet to increase methylation, by consuming more of certain foods/beverages like green tea.

There are other supplements like TMG, SAM-e, and DMAE, betaine, and ECGC that also increase methylation. Some of these get mentioned in the GenoType book. Betaine and ECGC are use in the GenoType products.

Methyl B12 also helps increase methylation and is in a number of D'Adamo products.

I've read that in Russia it is called Vitamin B15.  It's supposedly helpful for autism.

I used to give it to our DD regularly.

My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.
