I first took it during the day and it made me pass out. With two young kids and a million things to do, I just can't do this. So I have been taking it before bed for the past 4 nights, and I sleep great, but I am fully awake by 4-5 am!!! I don't want this either!!! I feel great taking it but I need to figure out when to take it...does anyone else have this issue? |

Are you sure it is what made you tired during the day? B vitamins are often taken as a pick-me-up to fight fatigue. |

What else is in the B vitamins that you have? I'm wondering if there are avoid ingredients in the pills that wipe you out, rather than that being from the vitamins themselves. |

They can be as likely to fight fatigue as they are to allow you to sleep or rest properly. |

interesting if I take B later than noon I get very awake. So I take my multivitamins in the morning with my B complex and before night I take my Magnesium. |

MY DH tried a B vitamin with Rhodiola. It made him very sleepy for a few hours and then stimulated. So we tried it at night. Not a good idea, he was drowsy during evening and then awake most of the night! The next day he was more relaxed than usual (it's supposed to fight anxiety). Maybe that was just lack of sleep hangover?
Some say you need to take B6 at night to help you remember your dreams. I take Bs in the morning and at lunchtime. Helps with energy for me. Remember my dreams better now I take extra B6 at any time. |

My sugar levels are 82-85. I don't really eat any grains, I eat pretty much 100% compliant. It's the B complex for sure. I've tried taking it 3 times in my life (first 2 times I was much younger and super healthy) and it always knocks me out. I took it at 11 pm last night and woke up at 6:45, need to get up at 6 am to take my daughter to school (she was late today, ). I am getting such great sleep though! Funny thing is, the magnesium oil no longer burns or stings me since I started the B complex. weird! Maybe I just need to get used to it for a few more days. My skin looks really good though since I started it. I basically started taking it because I read that birth control depletes your B vitamins and I'm trying to get everything leveled out after my last stunt with birth control. |

Henriette and Symbi that's usually what I hear...my hubby also takes rhodiola and it gives him energy (knocks me out too). The funny thing is the B vitamins and rhodiola are really the only thing I take orally that has any effect on me that I can actually notice. I was taking 30 vitamins and supplements a day not too long ago (18 out of that were for my thyroid) and nothing really affected me negatively. I can take the highest dose of anything and hardly notice a difference. Maybe I am taking too much of the B. I had started taking a lower dose one and it didn't affect me at all. I am loving the deep sleep though so I will keep taking this one and see. I think tonight I'll take it at 9 pm. |

Just an observation, but does anyone use nutritional yeast as a B vitamin source? http://www.bestnaturalfoods.com/nutritional_yeast.htmlI add it to soup, to salad dressing, to almost everything and in a whole food, I'm getting my Bs without taking any pills. I really believe the body prefers nutrients from foods rather than a lot of pills. I have a problem when I take pills that aren't part of BTD or GTD protocols. Most B vitamins smell very strong in the bottle and are probably a bunch of chemicals. Nowhere is it recommended that anyone take a B complex. Dr. D doesn't even make a B complex. Is it possible to get enough B complex in the blood type or genotype multi? And perhaps take B12/folic as an additional supplement if you're not eating enough high B12/folic foods..On Lola's recommendation on a prior thread, I started taking 1 Methyl B with breakfast and one with dinner. I sleep better than I've ever slept in my life. I think it's important to be careful about dosing oneself on supplements Dr. D doesn't make or specifically recommend. If blood sugar is a problem, I recommend Glycosia. I feel very balanced on that supplement. |

Stuff like this is weird. I used to have a really hard time eating fats in any form because it caused severe stomach pain; I thought I had a gallbladder problem. I started taking a B-vitamin complex, and the stomach pain ended. I can now eat all the fats I want - nuts, ghee, anything. random |

From my understanding (if I have got this right) the mag oil stings when you need it? Taking B vitamins (especially the B6) usually means more of the magnesium is getting into your system |

I started taking B complex long before I found BTD. It helped tremendously with fatigue, and I never did well when I stopped. I tried stopping a while ago, after having been on this diet for a while, and I felt more tired and prone to bouts of anger when I wasn't taking it. So I resumed the B vitamins.
Now, it's entirely possible that I'd do fine with the amount of B vitamins in the DPN multivitamin plus my diet, but it's far less expensive for me to buy a B complex from another source. If I could find a "B-25 complex" I'd give that a try, but for now I have a choice between B 50 and B 100, so I go with the B-50. There were times in the past when I've taken two a day, but that was pre-BTD.
I don't feel ready to stop the B complex right now, although it's something I'll keep in mind for the future. It's hard for me to eat enough nutrional yeast to equal what's in the supplement, and I can no longer eat liver (different forms of liver are black dots or outright avoids.) Plus the vitamin pills are far less expensive than an equivilent amount of yeast. |

On the bottle it says the B complex is good for hormonal production...and I need to balance out mine, I think that's why my skin is looking so "glowy". I had my lady time last week and it lasted 3 days and was super light, no pms, cramps, nothing (the way I had always been before birth control, sorry guys if TMI. The Dr is puzzled by the fact that birth control made everything worse for me). I think it's really helping me! Ruthie I'm taking a b 100 right now, had the choice of that or the 50 and of course as exaggerated as I am I went with the 100 . |

Maybe try taking the B 50, or cutting the pills in half, or taking them every other day, if you're not tolerating the larger dose. |

I have many times experienced the getting sleepy after taking a multi-B complex. Some of the B's are used in metabolizing carbohydrates. It felt to me like the B vitamin's somehow initiated some blood sugar fluctuations.
It is classically considered a sleep disorder to wake up in the middle of the night (without overt causes and which should be avoided if at all possible) and low blood sugar can cause that. I have heard it is better to have a protein snack before bed instead of a carb one if waking up too early. Funny how that sounds like advise from someone who'd walked the Hunter's trail.
Magnesium before bed sounds dreamy.
I saw a comment on thyroid nutrients and another on dreams. After watching the video Iodine - The Most Misunderstood Nutrient (available free online) I started using a Standard Process product called Prolamine Iodide and since that day I have experienced the pleasant surprise of remembering my dreams... every day. I look forward to increasing iodine and sea mineral rich foods like kelp, nori and other GTD seaweeds into my diet asap. |

B-Complex has the opposite effect on me as well. It gives me just the right amount of energy I need to get more done, so I have to take it in the morning. If I take it in the afternoon, I am awake until 1:00 a.m. I'm hoping that this supplement along with the BTD will help with my thinning hair. Just a quick question for all you B-Complex users...do you take the B-100 or the B-50? My husband and I were taking the B-100 for a couple weeks and my neck and upper chest started to get itchy. I asked my husband and he noticed (of all places) that his big toe was itchy. After researching it more online, I found out that it could be the niacin in this supplement. I had just bought this huge bottle of B-100, so I didn't want to just stop taking it. I've cut down to taking it only 3 times a week and I still have energy and no more itching. For my husband, I bought the B-50 Complex and give it to him daily. He hasn't had any more problems with itching either. |

I find that it energizes me, and I always take it in the mornings (or early afternoon, if I forget in the morning.)
I've been taking the B-50 for years. There are days when I'm especially run-down when I take two a day- one in the morning and one in the early afternoon. I've never bought the B-100 complex, because both kinds (50 and 100) contain the exact same amount of folic acid. I figured I could use the extra folic acid as well on the days when I want a higher dose. I'd buy a B-25 complex if it existed.
I don't know if taking it 3 times a week will do you much good, since B vitamins are water soluble. You'd do better buying a pill splitter and taking half a pill each day. |

Unfortunately, the B-100s I have are capsules. I was thinking the same thing though. |
