I got some Genoma samples. I have on the day cream, and it is so scented, that it almost makes me feel weak. I'm going to have to wash it off, as I just can't tolerate it.
I haven't done well with scented products ever since my 20's after I took a round of flagyl. Prior to that, I always wore perfume and was fine with it.
I wonder if Dr. D might consider making these products unscented, or with barely a trace of scent? |

Is there anyone else who has had this same sensitivity to the the odor of the Genoma products?
Is there someone who might be able to take this feedback to Dr. D? |

I thought the fragrance was quite mild. There are no artificial fragrances in his products, so it shouldn't be that strong. Perhaps you got a sample that has been sitting a little while? |

I'm very sensitive to fragrances, but the Genoma line does not bother me in any way. I love the creams and the effects on my skin. |

I haven't tried the night cream yet. The eye cream is fine, but the day cream, I find to be super strongly scented.
I thought that the products were supposed to be well-tolerated by all. The cream doesn't make me break out or anything like an allergic reaction. It's just the scent that made me feel weak. Is that an allergic reaction? |

I would think that there are others here who are sensitive to fragrances....
In my naturopath's office, there's a sign that says, "Please refrain from wearing fragrances in consideration of our chemically sensitive patients." |

Either the sample you got was more highly fragranced than normal, you're more sensitive to the fragrance than most.
Did you end up washing off the cream after a few minutes, or were you able to leave it on? I'm wondering if the scent dissipates over time and stops bothering you. |

I would imagine you would eventually get used to a smell (thinking of my expensive perfume I can no longer smell ) unless of course you were having an allergic reaction...which weakness etc sounds like... |

This must be it, and me too, I found the scent overpowering (not a sample). Plus I got a bit of a rash from it, so must be allergic to something in it. Now I'm using just plain ole grapeseed oil. Soaks in beautifully and leaves my skin feeling silky, not oily. And no fragrance! |

I like the Genoma skin care line. i don't have the eye cream, but the day cream, night cream and daily wash. I find that they all have a nice light earthy scent to them and once I've finished using them...I don't really smell anything). I love what line does for my skin and I don't even have to use much...one squirt each time. Now, for the spray...I don't care for the smell of it. Debra |

I am very sensitive to smells and cannot wear or tolerate the smell of perfume. I was very pleased with the fresh light smell of the Genoma skin care line.
I don't think any one thing can ever be tolerated by all. If something bothers us, we need to find an alternative. I once bought a calendula oganic soap which caused extreme itching, yet others love it.

you are a very isolated case..... cause I certainly am very sensitive to fragrances per se, and Genoma is totally safe, ..... did you read the news letter?

Say No to Fragrance – Artificial fragrances, which frequently contain phthalates, may trigger allergic reactions, irritation, and other health problems are often found in cosmetics and skin care products. Be mindful of the hidden dangers that “fragrance” or “parfum” listed on the ingredient labels can pose and choose fragrance free products.

This is just another example of how we are all unique.
I recall someone else not being able to tolerate only the toner.
As sensitive as I am to lots of things, Genoma I am fine with. |

I recently ordered the Restorative Night Crème for my hands that have gobs of skin pealing off of them. I'm planning on using it before bed. I'm also planning on doing the 4 week Skin Protocol. I'm sensitive to lotion with perfumes, I always use the fragrance free Curel. So, now you got me worried. |

Thank you, Dr. D for your reply. It's good to know that there is no added fragrance.
I can tolerate natural scents, like flowers. I had been using a face cream with lavender, and although there is a scent, it doesn't bother me at all.
However, the Genoma cay and night creams bother me very much, to the point that I had to wash it off, because I was feeling weaker by the minute. After I washed it off, I was fine.

Ruthiegirl, I left the day cream on for about an hour, and was beginning to feel worse, so I washed it off.
I sniffed the day cream and night cream today, to see if they were the same scent, (which they were) and just sniffing them made me feel weak.
I soooo wanted to use these products! I am very disappointed that I can't tolerate them. I can only use the eye cream, since there's hardly any scent to it. |

Yay!!! I put on the night cream around 6:00 after I took a shower. I wanted to try it early, so that I wouldn't have to get up in the middle of the night to wash it off, in case it didn't agree with me. Pretty strong smelling! I thought that I would persist and work through the initial feeling of the scent being over-powering. Well....6 hours later, and I don't smell a thing now!! Looks like I'll be able to use it!! I will try the same thing with the day cream tomorrow and see how that goes. I really want to use these products after reading the rave reviews! |

I too thought the scent was strong (though lovely) however, I found it fades quickly. I love, love, love the day, night and eye cream. My skin has never felt so good and my makeup always looks fresh on top of it. This is the best stuff I ever used. I hope Narnia you do get to enjoy it...if not pass it on to someone else and go for the grapeseed oil. Good luck. |

I wonder...is it my imagination???? When I looked at my face in the mirror before going to bed, it seemed that my face looked smoother and tighter.....with only one application of night cream??? Is this possible???? If so, it is just too good to be true!!! |

Well....I used the day cream again today, and I don't seem to tolerate it as well as the night cream. The day cream is what I initially reacted to. I have had it on for about 4 hours now, trying to persevere, but I feel kind of weak and sinus-y with the day cream.
It WOULD be nicer if they all came unscented....if Dr. D could come up with an unscented version so that more people could tolerate the skin care products.
If that doesn't happen, I could use only the night cream and eye cream. If I only used the night cream day and night, what would that do to my skin? Is there a particular reason NOT to use the night cream during the day? Would it work against me in any way? |

There are no fragrances added, just the natural smells of the natural ingredients. They could add a "masking fragrance" to the product (lots of commercial "unscented" products do that) but that would only be adding more ingredients to the product, and likely wouldn't be making it any better tolerated. I don't even know if those "masking fragrances" are even natural.
Narnia- my guess is that you're sensitive to one or more of the botanical ingredients in the day cream that's not present in the night cream- or possibly that's in higher concentrations in the day cream. You're noticing the fragrance as the trigger, but it's probably the botanical ingredient(s) itself that's problematic for you.
Maybe use the product only once a week, or dilute it with a better tolerated cream? |

The eye cream has no odor, so it seems that the creams can be made with less of a strong odor. |

Well...it's enough to cause frustration, when I had been so upset about my face looking saggy and crinkly after losing so much weight!
I've tried everything, and the Genoma cream is the first and only thing I've used where I've seen such HUGE and fast results!!
I was asking about an unscented version because I know that there are others who haven't been able to tolerate the fragrance. I thought that this whole line of products was geared to suit our type...it says that it is blood-type friendly. I would think that products by Dr. D would be more easily tolerated by us than the other brands.
However, the first ingredient listed after water is sunflower oil which is an avoid for Os. So I was wondering about that as well. |

Well...at any rate...if you can tolerate the scent, it's an AMAZING cream!! The BEST that I've ever tried, and I've tried many different and expensive creams in my life-time.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! It made my skin look so much smoother and tighter after only one application of night cream!! It really is miraculous!!! |

It is possible that you are sensitive enough to the smell of the oil, or something else that you will never be able to use it without the ill effects. Who knows, you may be able to tolerate it after being on the diet longer and healing more... |

Narnia- maybe you should experiment with making your own creams for your face. Read through the ingredients in the night cream. Any other avoids in there besides the sunflower oil? What botanical ingredients are in there that you think you can tolerate AND that you think might be responsible for the benefits? Perhaps you could buy individual ingredients and make your own cream or oil to use instead.
Remember, Dr. D. himself stated that there are no added fragrances. The scent that bothers you is the natural scent of one of the ingredients, and to re-formulate the cream without the fragrance means re-formulating it with fewer, or different, botanical ingredients.
Compare the ingredients in the eye cream to the night cream- see what's different. Or how about just using the eye cream on your whole face? |

Ruthiegirl, thanks for trying to help me come up with a solution to my dilemma. I have never made any creams, so I wouldn't even know where to begin. I'm sure that the proportion of the ingredients and how they work synergistically is paramount. It sounds like a daunting task. Thank you for your support and comfort. |

Wanted to mention that I've been using the Genoma Night Creme with great success. My hands are healing and not pealing as much, but it is still there. I'm doing the whole Skin Protocol and it may take another few weeks. Stopped using that abrasive Ajax dish soap which is a no-brainer. The GTD would probably heal my hands (especially flax) if that's all I did. |

Narnia, I have transitioned into using just the Eye Creme (which I adore!), and the Night Creme (which I love!). I like the Day Creme, but my skin is very thin and delicate and the richer cremes are just what my face thrives on. They aren't oily, just very nourishing and rich. And I also have noticed all the wrinkles disappearing and my skin getting very smooth!
Any aroma seems to be gone in a very short time. |

Victoria, I can only use the eye cream, as it is the only one that doesn't have a strong scent.
I have tried the day and night cream a couple more times and the scent just would not go away for me soon enough for me to tolerate them.
So, back to the avocado oil. I think I'll order the genoma vitamins and work from the insde out.

Me tooooo. Sadly as good as ginger is suppose to be for us, I can't stomach the smell. I have a bad sushi experience from over 20 years ago to thank for that. Just can't stand ginger now. It is suppose to be a natural anti nausea spice and for me it does exactly the opposite. I find all of Genoma products to be a pleasing smell. To take away the smell would be taking away a really good anti aging botanical that is in it. It could quite possibly render the product void of being the great product that it is. There will always be a few that can't tolerate something or a rather with a product. BUT, when the product works really well for the majority??? IMHO, That makes it a good product. |

note that if I have ginger prepared my way, or added raw to anything I prepare, I thoroughly enjoy it.......it has to do with the processing used in the food industry that I cannot tolerate. anything processed sweet or savory......no way.... |

Hmmmm....then that makes me wonder if the eye cream does not have the anti-aging botanical, as it practically has no odor!! |

Lola, you have had both of these ice-creams? That's unusual, as they are not very common flavors. Actually.... the green tea coconut milk ice cream tastes bitter, but I can tolerate it for the creamy sensation. However, I do love ginger ice-cream. But, I can't have it anymore, so I am staying away. |

But wouldn't the anti- aging botanical properties be more present in the eye cream Being that is where most of us get our first wrinkles? |

No Narnia, that you would call an eye cream formula. Not the same as a face cream, we use different properties for different formulas. One does not often use eye cream as all over moisturizier. A night cream used during the day for those wanting a heavier cream? Yes. A day cream used at night for those that don't like a heavier cream? Yes. BUT!! An eye cream used as an anti aging moisturizer? I don't recommend it. An eye cream is meant for eye tissue. |

Genoma Eye Crème includes Lupine protein, which stimulates cellular activity and renews the stratum corneum, the outer-most layer of the epidermis. Alfalfa seed supports the synthesis of collagen, Myrtle limits the skin aging process, which is induced by oxidative stress. These ingredients are enhanced by the inclusion of Sea Fennel (Chrithmum maritimum), which works much the same way as retinoids but does not induce the inflammatory response generally associated with them. Additionally, Sea Fennel works to stimulate cell renewal, which increases the thickness of the skin.

Dry ginger smell oxidized to me, I like better the fresh sliced or grated one and also the fruit scent or smell in candies, teas and toiletries are often awful to my nose, the fresh fruit rules and cooked fruit is less tasty for me. The coconut scent is always all chemical not natural extracted, as per my aromatherapy books . I could ate as a girl coconut and coconut flour cookies but I find fake coconut scent nearly disgusting. |

Thank you! I went to the site, but it took pounds and not dollars, so I see that it's overseas.
I may have to search to find them in the US. |

Narnia,
To see if you are reacting to the smell or the actual application of the cream, have you considered putting it on outside on a breezy day? You could make an artificial breeze with a fan blowing towards you.
Just an idea for a test.
The breeze will dry/fan away the scent rather quickly. Once the product is dry, it doesn't give off much scent. |

I had tried applying the cream and holding my face in front of an ozone generator while holding my breath. Even then, the scent didn't go away enough for comfort.
I may give it another try since my immune system seems to be improving. |

My experience with the Genoma skincare products is so positive! When I started the scent was strong and the first effect was adstringent to my skin. After a few days of use I was used to the scent and my skin has never been softer and in balance. No more dryness and other irritations. Received from the NAP4EU some awesome Genoma leaflets titled: Food for your Skin. Indeed it is food.. My skin won't do without Genoma anymore.. Together with natural haircare (no more chemicals to dye my hair) and 100% natural shampoo and conditioner, my eczema on my skull is completely vanished.. Take care and stay well! Cocky |

I continue to be impressed with the Genoma cremes also, RhodaMaria. I have used natural bodycare products for the past 20 years, so I didn't really think this line would make any difference. I was very surprised. One of the things I've noticed is that all my adult life, my facial skin has been so dry, it has been necessary to use very rich natural moisturizers after bathing, because creams that vanished were never enough to keep my skin from drying out. The Genoma Cremes disappear very quickly, but the soft, moist feel of my skin does not. The lines in my face are noticeably fewer and lighter. When I touch my face, it feels like it did 25 years ago. I agree with Vicki. I only smell the light natural oils when I first apply it. After a few minutes, the smell is completely gone. |

Back in September I was using a different natural product (see earlier post). It was good, but no where near as good as Genoma. I now also have the cleanser and the Toner. I am truly amazed at the results of these products. Were my pigmentation spots first disappearing, now they are almost completely gone.
Narnia, maybe the toner is something you can use. I didn't smell a thing when I sprayed it on and you don't have to use the daycream after it. |

I don't know the expiration date, but I'm on my third round of the products. I'm using them sparingly and they are staying fresh. My second order included a couple of bottles of one product and I kept the extra in the fridge until I was ready to start using it . . just to be safe. |

I purchased Genoma about January this year. I used the cleanser, day moisturizer and night moisturizer. The smell was great. I loved the way it felt on my skin. Then after a short time, I can't remember how long, my skin started to itch badly, then it started to burn, then it peeled. I attributed it to dust mites or something like that. I went on a mite killing spree, but things didn't get better. Finally, I thought about discontinuing use of Genoma. Things got better, but I was not sure which to attribute it to. Yesterday, I decided to give a try to the products again to see. I cleansed, used the day cream, later cleansed, used the night cream. This morning while reading email trying to wake up, my face and neck were itching terribly. Instinctively, I started going over in my mind what I could have eaten yesterday. I got up an hour or so later and looked in the mirror. Exactly where I apply the products, my face looks beet red and feels like it is on fire. Reactions like these are not uncommon for me. I had to go without makeup for years because of reactions. I found out i had a hormone deficiency, then I was fine again. Maybe it is my nonnie-ness? I am wondering if this could be a good reaction. Maybe something needs burning/detoxed from my skin? |

I've never had any discomfort from either of the cremes, but I've noticed that the cleanser really seems to increase circulation to the surface of the skin. My skin would be a little pink if I left it on a long time. If you're curious, try leaving that off and just using the cremes just to see what happens. |

For some reason, I suspect the night cream. It seems like I used the cleanser and day cream and was ok. I think I ordered the night cream a little later. That could explain why I didn't react at first. I am not sure, but I am so bad right now that I am taking a benadryl and going to lay down. I haven't taken that stuff in years. I don't like it, but my face is on fire and I am a little short of breath. It is just me. My skin has always reacted to many things. Back to my olive oil soap. I love the cleanser and day cream. If I am brave enough, I might try them again. |

I have been using the cleanser, toner, day cream, eye cream and night cream for a few months and love them. My skin feels fresh, clean and hydrated. I just started taking the genoma derma tablet, also. I just wish they were "on sale" more often! |

I am not too fussy on the containers. The lids fall off easy and the bottles are tippy and when they tip, the lids crack easily. They do not travel well. Come open in the luggage. I also prefer containers that you can see when you are getting low on a product. I am not sure if the product was the source of my acne problem or due to detox. Stopped using it and have been using mms topically and it is almost entirely cleared up. Will give the product another try again and see. |

I am taking a benadryl and going to lay down.
Benadryl didn't help at all. My face and neck are puffy, very red, and still burning. It must be a "chemical burn". I believe that is what happened last time only not as rapidly. My whole face peeled last time. I am sure it is going to happen again. I should end up with very nice, smooth skin. |

Mine lasts for more than 2 months, maybe 3. I don't slather it on like department store lotions. It's like nectar -- a little goes a long way. |

I also find these products lasts a very long time, around 3 months. The cleanser seems to last the longest and the toner goes first. I think I use a normal amount. |

What's the best to buy if one is on a limited budget?
What if I just go the day cream, night cream and eye cream? I'm over 50 now and pretty sure I'm headed to menopause so I want to start using some really good products that will help the collagen.
Thanks all! |

I would suggest the day cream, for sure. When money is tight I just use the day cream and the genoma derma capsule. The natural ingredients are great for my skin. |

Just got my 5 piece skincare set a couple days ago. About all I can say for the cleanser, toner, day cream, and night cream is ':WOW'. I love what it does for my skin. The eye cream doesn't seem to work for me however, but I love the rest. Thank you. |

Hi Brenda! I haven't tried the mask...must be new. My fave is the daycream! I have noticed firmer skin, stronger nails and possibly fuller hair from the derma supp! |

Brenda.. I have my kit but haven't started using it yet. I didn't get the toner this time around.. but why doesn't the eye cream work for you? |

It didn't seem to help the puffiness in my eyes so I am still using my old eye cream. I'm not putting the eye cream down, it just didn't seem to work for me. It might work for others. We humans are different! |

well what i found helped the puffiness was getting my inflammation to go down by following the Gentotype Diet.. i.e. my Swami. Are you on one of the regimes..ie. BTD or GTD? |

I never used it because I really hate tissue off cleanser. I like to rinse my face with water and feel clean. |

Ok so I started my Genoma routine and i find the creams to be very light. I'm not used to this! ha ha... the last cream i was using was a natural cream but i was heavy compared to this.
Plus it takes much less than the two recommended pumps. Am i supposed to use two and just rub it in until it's gone to get the full benefit?
The eye cream is way too much to use in the 'one pump' - can I used that around my entire eye.. the lid and everything or?
also can i then move forward after the day cream to put on sun screen and then any makeup base I use from time to time...?
and one last thing.. if i work out mid day or mid afternoon.. do i then reapply the day cream or it one application per day enough?
thanks all! |

Yes, the cremes are very light compared to the usual natural creams on the market. I consider the Genoma line to be skin therapy and not just a bottle of oils and butters. I would say that it's fine to use whatever else is important to you as long as you use the Genoma products first and give them a minute to absorb. I use a fraction of what is recommended. No need to waste it, is my approach. I take some liberties with my own skin care regime. The only thing I wash my face with is Organic Coconut Oil, massaged in well and washed off with a damp, warm washcloth. At that point, my skin is already moisturized. I follow that with the Skin Toner, which I think is awesome. Then a drop of Emu oil and a drop of the Genoma Creme mixed in my palms and applied to my face. |

I bought the night and day cream on a whim and a few weeks later, I do see a difference in the tone and appearance of my face!
Love it! |

I wish I could afford some of the vitamins, but I just can't. They are pretty expensive for only a months supply. |

Take a half dose instead of the whole dose-- should be fine. |

Andrea, That is exactly what I do to make it stretch! I want to get as many nutrients as possible from my food anyway. I love the Genoma daycream and I take a Genoma Derma capsule every other night. |
