An interesting article in regards to Chaste Berry affecting Dopamine.

This is interesting for O's in particular.  I'm wondering what folks think about this dopamine connection.  I started taking this for my breast pain and perimenopause symptoms.... but I've felt rather dark and slightly depressed the last couple of days and wondering if there is a connection because of this study on how it affects dopamine.

Does it seem from reading the article, as if this will help or hinder these brain chemicals in O's?

advised for all BTs.....

for those not following the BT/GT lifestyle guidelines, where dopamine levels become balanced, it might be the case.....
but I in particular have had nothing but great results from taking it.

there s so much on dopamine.....how s your physical activity doing?

Hi Funkymuse,

I never really took it on a regular basis, but I did buy some for the reasons you are taking them.
Maybe I am getting near the part of peri/meno when I will stop soon, but what has been helping me
with those symptoms is lots of probiotics.  At least I think that is what is helping.

But I wanted to add that I am also having some dark/depressed days.  I thought it was the morning heavy fogs lately, but even walking in the sun is not helping.  I am trying to figure out what to try next.  Had a stupid argument over a pan in the dish drain last night....I left the handle hanging over the sink area, and it made the dh angry.  Washed it while cooking dinner.  Of course, no one mentioned that dinner was good......I am just so grumpy lately.  I want a chill pill, but don't think it's really that simple.

The protocol you post is interesting but in the BTD Encyclopedia it lists Chaste Berry as a recommendation for O's only as a Menopause Support:

"Female Tonic.  Acts upon the pituitary gland - specifically on the production of luteninzing hormone - to increase progesterone production and help regulate a woman's cycle."

It's also the first recommended in the Menopause Health Library for O's.

These are the reasons I purchased it and started taking it. (400mg twice daily as recommended in the book).  Is it not recommended anymore for O's?

Beyond that, this research on Dopamine had me curious and caused me a bit of concern, that's why I'm asking mostly!

I certainly don't want to mess up my poor brain anymore than it is!!!

And my exercise level is good.  thanks!

Well gosh... everything affects our brains so I was just looking to make sure that this was not negatively affecting my BC.  It looks as if it would raise dopamine and that might be a good thing for the O dopamine deficient brain.
