Hi all. Would like to hear some anecdotal comments from Os about specifics of what they've noticed when using Deflect, vs. before Deflect.

(Also, if you've taken some component of Deflect separately before - or something similar to an ingredient but not as great - like glucosamine sulfate - would be interested in hearing how that went.)

this might help answer part of your question.....
Quoted Text
Question: What is the relationship (if any)
between glucosamine sulfate and the N-acetyl
glucosamine...

Answer: Other than the fact that both have an
amino sugar backbone (glucosamine) they are
not related structurally, and glucosamine
sulphate (while it might be helpful for
arthritis) will not "fit" the specificity
requirements for wheat germ agglutinin, which
binds only to the "n-acetylated form.

You can sometimes block the effects of wheat germ lectin in type O by using an amino sugar called "N-acetyl glucosamine". This glycoprotein will act as a decoy and flood the lectin receptors of wheat germ agglutinin, rendering it unable to glom onto you. It is available in health food stores and is safe and not expensive. Take 1-2 caps after a particularly bad meal.

for the last couple of years I have taken 1 or sometimes 2 caps per day of bladderwrack and I feel that it is a good thing....I feel it helps my gastrointestinal tract, my thyroid, and I esp. count on it to guide the little bits of wheat that may slip in... right on out.

I took one bottle of Deflect, I did not notice a difference, I took a supplement from another company with n-acetyl glucosamine and some other ingredients and I noticed a marked improvement.

Thanks. (If you ever recall what those other ingredients were or even just the name of the product, would be interested. I have some bladderwrack on hand, tried it yesterday - along with a regimen that included Glucorell, which is a type/brand of alpha lipoic acid, and noticed my aches were a bit better later in the day and today. Can't say for sure that's why, yet, but glad to see improvement period.)

do you maybe think there was a cumalative effect and maybe the first bottle of deflect actually made the second  brand more effective if you happened to take it after you finished the Deflect

I'm not the original poster but wanted to mention that I think I saw on some blog that one person had some problems with the larch in the Deflect formula (maybe causing swelling or something) - so one possibility is that not all of the elements of Deflect agree with the original poster.

Years ago I tried Deflect and didn't notice a difference. I will likely try it again this year, meantime have some bladderwrack and some Source Naturals N.A.G. (n-acetyl glucosamine) to try.
