loose stools is a sign of too much magnesium.....so regulate the amount to your personal needs.
The ratio of calcium to magnesium is said to be about 2:1 or 1000mg of Calcium and 400mg of Magnesium....try that for starts and see how it works for you...lower the dose if needed. |

I take 600 mg of magnesium each evening- I did start with the low dose- and after 2 weeks took the higher dose. From LRT "type B´s risk having deficiencies in magnesium in part because you assimilate calcium so efficiently. Coincidently overweight individuals especially those with extreme poor sugar handling capabilities are often deficient.!
Remember not all magnesium is created Equal ! Magnesium oxide is NOT a good source - it comes out again- used against constipation.

Yes, it is good, tells a lot about magnesium, but I am not sure if I understood 100%. How would I know magnesium I bought(nature made's brand name) is good source or not? |

maybe take calcium in the morning and magnesium at night since I have heard that they compete or cancel each other....I guess in China they take equal amounts of each, while here we take more calcium....I tend to think its better to take equal amounts.... sorry that I don't know how to tell a "good" brand.... |

I don't take calcium tablets, I get that from vegetables and dairy. Okay, question is now, "Are they compete or cancel each other" ?? |

I like magnesium citrate. That is what childbirth educators recommend to pregnant moms when their B/P starts creeping up. (Well, those trained by ACBE) |

I have two kinds of magnesium in my cupboard. One is magnesium citrate 350 g. The other is a powder I mix in 2 litres of water (magnesium chloride) and keep bottles of the water in the fridge.
Each night I take 3 oz of the liquid and if I need more (usually during PMS time), I take it. It's great for a headache cure as well sometimes.
I do have a calcium/magnesium liquid I take regularly (1 tbl. a day). This was given to me by my naturopath. The one who doesn't understand about B's and calcium.

this is what I've always read and heard...........recently I was specifically told by someone (don't remember who or in what thread) here that citrate is NOT a good form of mag or cal, that it's only used so much because it's cheap. I'd really love this cleared up once and for all. Anyone know? and have substantial 'evidence'? |

Me too, 5 mils in an 8oz glass of water, just before I go to bed at night. Ignore the yukky taste. Magnesium aspartate (powder capsules) with my breakfast, is my other choice. I get my calcium from compliant BTD food. Cheers John. |
