O.K.  I don't normally do well with beans and I had lima beans on Sunday and Monday and I am still paying for it.

Is peppermint tea going to help calm my system down?  Anybody with this type of discomfort and a fast remedy.  The pressure won't let up and it's Thursday!

Thanks,

LF

did you soak your beans the night before, or are they canned?

adding a piece of seaweed called kombu during cooking helps, or even ginger.

also ginger tea for digestion or gentian.

Caraway seeds have been used since the 1500's to aid digestion.

I second the ginger tea recommendations and drink lots and lots of water.

Thanks.  I will have to get some of those remedies tomorrow.  Still uncomfortable and yes I did soak the beans and rinse them many times overnight even.  I guess me and beans are not friends anymore.

Thanks again.

LF,
I'm with you on that conclusion about beans.  Except for fresh green beans, I haven't eaten beans in years.  The results leave me with regrets!

Have a go w/ some apple cider vinegar, a neutral for you. Try a tablespoon in some water. Just heard of this the other day. Let us know if it works, eh?    If not, well, you've only lost a T of a/c vinegar.

It important to thoroughly soak your beans/legumes until they are uniformly soft, and it is important to make sure they are cooked thoroughly.  Adding a small bit of kombu seaweed will aid with digesting the beans and it also makes the beans soft and tender.

Try drinking ginger tea or chew on some fresh organic ginger pieces to aid with digestive and stomach distress.

Will fennel tea work to help A's pass gas? My friend with colon cancer just had surgery and wants to know what he can take to help with gas.  His surgery was successful, no need for a colostomy, but having this problem as many post operative patients do.

Tomatilla, thank you very much.  I will be sure to advise using both ingredients.

Yesterday morning I had a ginger, carrot and cayenne drink.  Last evening I had the fennel and cumin.  I feel so much better today.

It's funny, I emailed my naturopath about my situation and she thinks I may be eating something else in my regular diet besides the beans since it took too long to get out of my system.  I just don't agree.

Thanks for the remedies.

Beans really get to me too, and I have to limit myself to eating them only about once a week because of the side affects.  Seaweed hasn't helped, but then....maybe I didn't have the right kind.  I'll have to try some of those seed teas.
