well, I have been on a weird trip with loose bowels, poor or no digestion, for a few weeks now, and I'm finally getting a bit of improvement...I tried switching my cal and mag....some of you may remember I have asked before "can you take mag and no cal?" and some folks said no they never do that, but no one said why....and now I'm wondering if I have found out one reason why...so now I take a cal supp with balanced mag (2/1) and no solo mag at nighttime. (I was taking mag alone at night for sleep...up to 500 or so mg...and no cal at all, for fear of kidney stones. Which I don't fear anymore....we shall see....so far, much better!

Too much magnesium can really loosen those stools!    Have you found a ratio that works for you now?

How much is too much? Even though I've been taking Polyflora A and drinking lemon/salt water in the AM, I've not been regular the last couple of days...might be the grain, dairy, and alcohol consumption, huh?

Ohhhhh surely not Drea.     Sounds like maybe you had a party and didn't invite us????????

Ha!! Anyway, you might try adding some ghee in the AMs. I think that really helps me. I've come to the conclusion it's not the lemon or salt for me, but more likely the ghee.  Re: the mag, the only way to find out how much is too much, is to up your intake each day just a bit until your stools get loose, then back off the same amount. Each person will be dif.

I was under the impression that ghee on an empty stomach is beneficial for Os, but only neutral for As. Anybody care to buy me a clue?

according to this, it seems like it's better for B's and AB's but sounds like it's good for all BT's  intestinal flora and promotes the health of the colon tissue. ???

Yeah, well I really found out!!! Let me tell you.....taking mag every night and  no cal for an extednd per. of time had my digestion is the pits.....diarrhea for weeks ...but I think I'm on the right track now! Wanted to warn you all! I take them in a balanced formula2/1 cal/mag...but will experiment with upping the mag a bit...(do not take mag with no cal all day)

I took two tablets of cal/mag in a ratio of 2:1 last night, for a total of 1000mg of cal to 500mg of mag. I've been told that the body cannot absorb more than 300 mg of cal per dose (the rest gets passed through the body), but since I don't have mag by itself...Janey, how much have you been taking now that you are feeling better?

relatively low levels....about 300 cal and 150 mag......wow, saying that makes me see that I need more of both.....ok, I'll double that today. Thanks, Drea.
