I can't seem to find anything on Barberry when I perform a search

In my dictionary it says barberry is a shrub.  Are you sure you have the right name?  Is this suppose to be a food?  I will also check on net & see if I could find anything different
Check this out Zereshk  It may be what your looking for an Iranian berry mixed with onion and other ingredients.  Hope this is what your looking for.

Barberry is an ingredient in a Liver Tonic for Liver support to help the process inflammation that is clogging the body ... etc ... that's precisely why I was wondering if it was ok for B'S

Its in the 'Health Protocols' for #2:AntiBacterial and #30:Yeast Fungus for A-Types.

Good herb for raising platelets in ITP; good herb for jaundice.

Should not be used by folks with severe hypoglycemia.

Otherwise, pharmacology largely  the same as Goldenseal (Hydrastis)

The Berberine is present in virtually all of the Berberis/Mahonia sp. Mahonia is a modern genus name of some members of Berberis sp. and is used interchangably.

Goldenseal {Hydrastis canadensis - Ranunculaceae}
Goldenseal does have virtually the same pharmacological affect.
But I've been lead to believe that it is harder on the liver - so is not for continual and/or long-term use ie:take for several weeks and then take a break from it.
Also as it is in the Buttercup family it is wise to avoid...and as its the wild forms that have stronger medicinal benefit, it is also being overharvested.

On a tangent: the Powdered Goldenseal works great for cuts as a natural bandaid/plaster of sorts.
