I am considering taking marshmallow root tea for a urinary problem. I remember a comment recently by KimonoKat that it is good for such problems, and we are both O's. Just double checking, since I can't find any official word on it... is Marshmallow Root fine for Type O's? Thanks.
I think it might be, I remember researching the issue at one time, myself. We'll wait for the experts to weigh in. Drink lots of water and stay away from caffeine & sugar. That works for me....

Thanks OSuzanna. Yes, I already do drink lots and lots of water and I stay away from sugar and caffeine, also alcohol and "acid" foods.
I know that marshmallow root will (over time) heal damage to the urinary tract. I'm not 100% sure if it will adequately "cure" an infection. You might want to add astralgus if you are sure you have an infection.
I'd also do the Candida Spit Test to rule out that you don't have candida that is showing up as urinary tract infection(s).
Do you know for certain that you have a UTI? Have you taken antibiotics in the past for UTI's?
Hope you are feeling better, soon!

KimonoKat I don't have a UTI, but I have been diagnosed in the past with interstitial cystitis. I recently showed slight blood in the urine and will have to visit a urologist next month. I have had an antibiotic in January 'just in case', but no infection showed up in my culture.
I would like to try marshmallow root tea for general soothing and healing, and who knows maybe the blood will not show up again. Anyway, I will probably have to undergo some sort of tests, which I dread.

I apologize. Now I remember what you posted in the past.
I don't know if my story will help you in your decisions or not.
I went through a battery of tests through my 20's and early 30's. I have one kidney that is much smaller than the other, and is mostly drainage tissue. It has very little filtering (nephron-sp?) tissue. I've been told it does about 20 % of the work. I've had the dye put in my veins a number of times to watch it's progress through my body. In the 70's, I had (if I'm remembering this correctly) radiation isotope tracking through my system to try to find/track problems with my kidneys bladder.
I was told (this is eons ago) that my bladder was "stretched out," and had lost a majority of it's elasticity. That's why it couldn't void completely; why I had to self cath; and why I got chronic infections. I was given so many different antibiotics that at one point, I could only take an antibiotic that was available through injection. It cost a fortune (for me at the time), and I had to find someone to give it to me twice a day for five days.
I've had two surgeries on my bladder. The first to repair damage to my bladder, the second to remove a calcium stone from scar tissue in my urerter tube...scar tissue probably formed from the first surgery to rebuild and reimplant that same ureter.
Most, if not all of my problems with my bladder infections went away when I came to the realization that it was candida that was causing the chronic UTI's, and not necessarily the self cathing. I learned to control my sphincter muscle again, and learned to develop the use of my ab muscles to void my bladder. I no longer have to self cath.
I believe the herbs I took for the bladder, and treating the candida via diet, herbs and colonics really helped me. I also took a stress formula from Nature's Sunshine, the ingredients consisting of passion flower, hops and valarian.

Thanks KimonoKat. You don't have to apologize! I don't expect everyone to remember all my details! I'm glad that you are doing so much better now!
You know, I think that I might have candida issues, too. I did that spit test recently and it didn't look good! I will definitely have to look into that more, too. There is so much to learn and remember!
