Has anyone taken this product? I saw my naturopath yesterday and told him that I have been taking NAC and glutamine, for eliminating heavy metals. He said that after a time I would lose some valuable minerals with doing that. That I would be better with the oral glutathione. Has anyone had experience with this? He said to take a teaspoon a day, but after reading the information on websites, I see some recommend an oz per week. Any help would be appreciated. |

Glutathione is a great liver detoxifier and is in the detoxification protocols for type B's. I don't think that necessarily means that it is contra-indicated for other blood types. Often supplements are listed in the protocols because they are especially effective for that particular blood type.

don't know about any mineral-wasting connection, [have never heard of it]
just understand that glutathione (taken orally) is likely a waste of money. The enzyme (like SOD) is too large to pass through cell membranes. Outside the cell it does a great antioxidant function but this can be duplicated by far less expensive nutrients ... like vitamins C and B(complex).
Inside cells glutathione often links up with the mineral selenium. This combined-enzyme is a huge liver detoxifier. A person can supplement with NAC(n-acetyl-cysteine) + L-glutamine + glycine (highly available) to form glutathione on the insides of cells ............... + selenium @2mcg (minimum) >>>>>> @8mcg (max).

agree completely with John here, glutathione does not get translated in the body unless it has a carrier. Whey protien is the best way to absorb glutathione and get it's detoxification power. Cystine is a nessesary co-factor |

Thank you, John, Laura and Victoria. I had been taking NAC and glutamine, but without the glycine. That is when the mineral loss happens after a long time, he said. This glutathione is a liquid, in a form that is supposed to permeate the cells, with lecithin, I believe he said. Since I have been taking the NAC since last April, I thought I would take this for a month or so, and go back with the NAC and add glycine. How long should one have to take this to get detoxified would you think? Or would you think a month on and a month off might be better? |

Hi Trish,
glycine is almost in every food (especially fruit) so supplementing with glycine is very rarely needed. [ever heard of tri-glycerides - same stuff!]. I really have no idea about what he is speaking of if glutathione and lecithin are spoken of together. These are two very different chemicals whose structure and functions could not be more diverse.
The only things that I know about membrane-bound-lecithin is that it forms the basis for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine - for the sensory nerves (mostly optic). This 'choline' part is also a Zwitterion that shares the task with membrane-bound zinc and taurine, of giving the outside of cells its small-charge.
don't know if this helps ...........

Hi John, The liquid glutathione uses the lecithin as a coating, if I understand it correctly. This facilitates the action of the gl and the choline to the cells. Somehow protecting it from the digestion system. I am sure part of his promoting it has to do with $. I'll do it for a few weeks, if it lasts that long. Then go back to my regular protocal. Thanks for your help. |

Hi Trish44,
now I understand! a large part of the digestion and distribution of fats within the body is done by very tiny pellets called chylomicrons. These 'packets' are formed by a pile of lecithin forming the shell. In recent years this delivery system has been mimed by using a whole range of different chemicals on the inside, with a lecithin-ball for the outer covering. It has also been done with vitamin C.
you will likely have to give it a trial to see what it does for you ...............

someday, someday, I will, too. It will be an expensive procedure for me. Are you doing that soon? |
