http://library.gnc.com/health_notes/newswire/default.aspx?article_id=2&doc_id=347&lang=enThis is an i-article that I came across on the 'net. It's authored by Jeremy Appleton, ND, and seems to possibly speak to some of my sleep difficulties. I take my blood pressure RX at Bedtime because my pressures do seem to rise during the night. However, I seem to remember reading some years ago that melatonin should not be used as a supplement. This is a new avenue of thought for me--just trying to figure it all out, and any clarification is welcomed! Love, My. |

Lola, I've read and tried to comprehend the first referral--twice-and just can't seem to "get it". Does B-12 have something to do w/ melatonin? My. |

B12 has shown to regulate circadian rhythm as well as melatonin. |

You could also have sleep apnea and should pursue evaluation of that possibility.

Hi,
Thanks for the clarification, Lola. The third time was the charm--I think I've got it now. Where can I purchase methylcobalamin?
Vicki, thanks for your comments, as well. I actually was diagnosed with apnea around ten years ago, and have been on a bi-pap with O2 feed ever since. However, my PSO2 reading can still get down into the 60's sometimes during the night--so I'm trying to figure out some other alternatives, as well.

Thanks!
There is so much to learn--it seems as if I spend 2-3 hours everday on the website, and the more I read--the more I need to know.

You are on the right track with your sleep apnea. Weight loss may be a "cure" for you! |

Melatonin is a recommended supplement in LR for blood type A's to assist with maintaining proper circadian rhythm. Albeit, I believe it is suggested to use under the guidance of a doctor.

My Doctor prescribed melatonin when I was having difficulty sleeping. It really helped most with the falling asleep versus the staying asleep. But they do make the time release capsules that are supposed to help with both problems. I never noticed any negative side effects. Good Luck. |

Melatonin raises testosterone in women (not so bad for some), and can help with vertigo that is the result of the beginnings of Meniere's disease (at least, it seems to work for me, if that is what I have). One month of melatonin (3mg or whatever the unit is) at night. Firms me up a little, and I have not had a full progression to vertigo for several years. I don't use it non-stop, and I have never had trouble sleeping. Just the opposite. |

I took Meletonin for my Fibermyalgia and it worked so great to put me to sleep and give me a deep rest, BUT it affected my growth hormone and my breasts swelled (which was a good thing!),BUT unfortunately got so tender I couldn't even wear a bra.
