Hello BTDers,
I use sea buckthorn juice (Hippophae rhamnoïdes) as source of vitamin C. Do you know if it good for O blood type?
Thank you in advance

As it is an Elaeagnaceae member - it is related to many shrubs useful in a Permaculture context.
Specifically, Sea Buckthorn {sometimes known by Sea Berry} was used by the Cosmonauts and the former Eastern Bloc has numerous cultivated vars. specifically for medicinal purposes - none of which translates readily into English. |

Hello Lola,
Thanks!
How do you take your rose hips? Whole with boiled water? In tea bag? pellets? I know acerola cherry but often laboratories add chemical vitamin C in pellets and it is not always written if it is chemical or natural vitamin C. Only some lab. add only natural vitamin C, especially from rose hips. In chemical vitamin C, only L-ascorbic acid is available for body, the D-ascorbic acid is toxic. When it's not written "L-ascorbic acid", the product contains 50/50 of each form...
As Kyosha Nim says, Sea Buckthorn is not a sea weed, it is a shrub. It like mediterranean climate. There is some names in English. In French, it called "Argousier". The juice contains C, A and E vitamins and iron. I buy it in Weleda laboratories, a very serious lab. Their Sea Buckthorn are grown in organic farming. The product is without sugar and additives.
In pleasure to read you!

yes borislav, I take it Whole with boiled water......just let it soak in hot water during the night...... next morning I warm it up a bit and blend the cup......the seeds are too hard to chew so I just spit those out.......excellent source of vit C!
your name sounds very 'Slav' to me.......)
ascorbic acid is also mostly derived from corn......not such a good option for us. |

I'm just learning about this plant and it's uses ... great for skin care ... rosacea and acne and anti-ageing. http://www.seabuckthorn.com/I am going to be doing some tele-training on it in the near future. I drink the tea and use the soap and will be buying the oil. There are two types of oil ... from plant and from berries, if memory serves me correctly. The soap is beeeeutiful and I'm a soapmaker and very picky about my soaps. Big in Omega 7. |

OK Lola, I have dried rose hips, I'll test it! My true name is Boris and I'm not slave (at least in my near family!), I'm both French and Belgian. For slav language, Boris is a diminutive of Borislav. Thus I use it as login. You'll find in Weleda website a Sea Buckthorn oil melt for massage. This oil awake the mind and the body: http://usa.weleda.com/details/?id=9995See ya! |

Hi Boris - sea buckthorn likes scandinavian climate as well Oh the weleda oil is just brilliant I used it on my really bad chapped hands and they heled so well. I picked some sea buckthorn for jam some years ago - and they tasted a bit abricot like to me. |

Lola, I'm not making soap these days ... too many things on the go and I guess I started out a bit ahead of time as people would come to my booth at markets and oooh and aaaah over my soaps, but not buy enough to make it profitable.
I bought the sea buckthron products I linked above. WOW !! My face feels great ! silky smooth The products are expensive but the oil is 100%
A gal I work with is using theWeleda and her hand was very silky smooth but it's not 100%.
I decided I'd try the internal/external route for a month to see if I notice any difference. They claim 2 months and rosacea is a thing of the past. I already have mine under control but would be nice to see if this makes any additional changes to my very dry skin. I went from oily skin to cactus skin *poof* |
