He also told me that along the spine at L4 and L5 there are many disc that are rubbing together because there is no longer a cushion in between them, anymore.

geminisue, I'm not saying that the L4 and L5 not having cush between them anymore is NOT causing a prob, but I have heard of people having this 'problem' with no pain and people having pain when there is no 'apparent' reason.  sometimes back pain is due to our diets (personal experience talking here - even tho in the beginning I thought "hogwash, that couldn't be so" ).  This is not to say that's what is going on w/ you re: the L4 and L5. Just a thought.
My DH has this same prob, I believe. Yet his back only bothers him at times. In coming to learn how foods affect us, I am going to be keeping track of what he eats and when it flairs up. I know for me, HFCS is a killer and I have none of the disc 'problems' he has. Tho it does feel like it if I consume that poison. (the time it happened, I was really unaware of how BAD it could be - even prescription pain killers did nothing to relieve the pain) Funny how our bodies work huh?
Please let us know how the tests come out.

Italybound- please tell me what HFCS is.  strangely the pain has stopped two days after I went to the ER. I did rest almost flat on my back for several hours during day with my feet and lower legs raised. I tried to sleep at night, but it was very painful, than Friday the pain was gone, unless I lay on the right side and it's more uncomfortable like I'm laying on something pushing in.

I will post here as I find out, thank You for everything, Linda

Italybound- please tell me what HFCS is.

High Fructose Corn Syrup.  Plain corn syrup might have the same effect. I really avoid both at all costs. Check all products, even ones you wouldn't think have HFCS in them. I've learned that even alot of the Campbells soups have it in them.  I don't use any of those anymore and they used to be a main staple here. The things we learn!!
Hope the MFC works for you and relieves some of the pain. Please try not to worry about the mass. I know that is prob impossible, but I'll be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.  {{{{ Hugs}}}}

I may be well off course here, but how is your posture? do your feet pronate, that means more weight on the inner border of your foot, the natural line of gravity is from the knee (imagine a line) down to the outer border of your foot, which is the natural weight bearing side, if so this affects the spine (also knees and hips) as the joints are not lined up correctly (through pronation). Some advise an orthotic fitted into the shoe to prevent pronation, you can get OTC (over the counter) ones quite cheaply.

They do often help with backache, but there are always exceptions to the rule.

seren, if affordable, aren't custom orthotics better? I know I can tell the dif if I don't wear mine and right now I can really tell I'm not wearing mine (left foot has crushed nerves across the top and right foot has a BROKEN toe). will be glad to get them back in me little shoes.
seren, didn't i see in another thread that you said your an orthopedist (is that right?). anyway you deal w/ feet.     so........... is there a custom brand of orthotics you'd recommend? thanks.   oops, got off topic there sorry. maybe you can PM me w/ the info unless others want to know.  thanks.

geminisue,

Wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you and wondering how you are doing?  Any news from the doctor yet?

Myra.

I had my cat scan and ultrasound on the 24th of Oct.  I received the results yesterday.  The doctor told me it was a cyst on my kidney, probably there since birth, and (cyst were always benign) but I also have a lesion on my pancreas and he would take a blood test called a C125 and I will get the results of that in a couple of days when I call.  Also need to schedule a M.R.I. ( he was going to have me wait 4-6 months to get the MRI, but I told him I would rather have it checked now, he said okay but in four to 6 months there may be need for another and maybe another lesion will be there.
Can somebody explain what a C125 will tell us (he told me but I forgot)

Geminisue, glad to hear the cyst is nothing to worry about (re: cancer) and hoping your MRI will be fine as well. And I don't blame you for not wanting to wait even 4 mths!!!  It amazes me that he would even suggest that. Then again, if you're not the one w/ the issue, guess you can't fully understand the anxiousness of not knowing. Tho I wouldn't think it would be so hard to almost fully understand.
 Did they say what they'd do if both are benign? I had a hemangioma the size of an apple on the back of my liver that had to be removed. While it wasn't cancerous, it was very painful and from what I was told, would have killed me had it at any time burst. So, I certainly understand how something can be painful, even tho it's not cancerous. Did they say if the cyst was pressing on something that was causing your pain?

Lola- your right it was CA 125- so that will tell me if there is cancer in my body right?

Italybound- We didn't discuss anything further than what I mentioned, but the pain did leave shortly after I had the first test.  Was told to rest with knees raised above my heart for about 48 hrs.  I couldn't lay all that time, but did as much as I could and the pain did leave.  So I'm sure we will discuss more later.  Will keep you posted.

Thanks!

Sue, I'm glad your test came back normal. I am having some anxieties of my own re: testing right now, so I am relieved for you that your tests are okay. Hoping the cyst issue will be able to be resolved w/o surgery. Take Care.    {{{Hugs}}}
