pain right below bra line from the spine out 6 inches and down to waist area and upper hip area
Also if I press in same area in the front I feel discomfort,
Also noticed I'm learning forward when I first get up and start walking and need to straighten up
Also discomfort in the area the leg joins the hip,
On the upside-excluding above- I feel good except for a little gas (belching)
I've had my gaulbladder removed many years ago, but still have my appendixs (there wasn't time to remove it than)
My thoughts: bone problems? appendixs? inflammation of muscular substance in this area? dreaded thought: cancer (one uncle had it many years ago ) I also have psorisis in the same area: results of?
Another thought just occurred- my computer is set up different here, and I'm not sure if key board is at the right height, and placement with the chair I am using. Does anyone know how to figure this out? ( I hope it is something easy like this)
Any thoughts, comments or recommendations. Thanks

You could have a few rib heads out. If so, a chiropractic adjustment will fix that right up.
Do you feel the pain if you try to put your shoulder/arm through complete rotation movements? Extend your arm fully and try to make 360 degree circle going forwards and backwards with your arm.

KK- no pain when trying to make a 360 circle with right arm, but that is something I'm not able to do. I can raise my arm almost straight up than as I try to go back it goes to the right side and around, the same is true with the left arm,but it will go straight up before going out to side. Do you think I need an adjustment? This is not something new for me, but the pain is new.
I'm sure the protocals would help, but it is not possible for me to get even one of them, before November. Finances are very tight. Do you know of any foods that may help, besides what I'm doing already.
geminisue, I can tell you for sure if it's a ribhead that's out, it is VERY painful. I describe it as feeling like I have a knife in my back. Sometimes it takes a day or so to completely go away even after an adjustment. Just depends on how severe it is and how long I've had to wait to get an adjustment. On the other hand, it has been out just enough to mess up my breathing ( or maybe I should say in a dif spot?). This has happened 2 or 3 times that way. The first time I had no idea what was wrong, just knew I couldn't breathe right. Went to a pulmonary spec, they ran the WHOLE battery of tests and said I had SLIGHT asthma and sent me home w/ 2 meds. One of which my asthmatic daughter uses. The meds were doing no good - called the daughter to see how fast they should work - she said 'right away' - which was as I thought. Sometime the following day, the ribhead thing popped into my head and that is indeed what it was. What causes a ribhead to come out? You name it, it could be the reason. It can be something as little as turning over in your sleep. It's just turning the wrong way at the 'right time'. I am beginning to think it has much to do w/ eating inflammatory foods. Hope you get some relief soon, whatever it is. {{{{ Hugs }}}}
Italy, I've had rib heads be out that have not been that painful.
gemisue, I meant just doing a circle with your arm/shoulder joint. Try to put your shoulders through a whole range of motions. Lift them, press them down, round them forwards, bring them back, etc., try to do these motions together and one at a time. Try to stretch from one side to the other. Just try to locate if there is any area where you movement is impinged by the pain.
It may also not be a rib head; could just be a vertebrae or two.

I keep a Ma Roller for those times when a rib or vertebrae gets "out". I find that if I use it immediately, and daily until it is better, the situation never gets very bad, and gets back in balance more quickly. CLICK There are most likely better prices available with a search on Google.

I think it's a lot better to do it for yourself because only you can feel to make sure that the knobs are pressing on either side of your spine instead of directly on the vertebrae. It would hurt a lot if the knob is pressing on your spine. You would know it!
My technique is different than what is described on that website. I bought mine 25 years ago at a local health food store, and started with the directions that came with it. It worked, so I stuck with it.
My starting position is the same as the website, except that I start it higher on my back, almost to the base of my neck, holding it in position with my fingertips. I lie there until I relax (usually 10 seconds), then I push it downward an inch or so, relaxing for about 10 seconds. I keep repeating that process, relaxing, then moving it an inch. After I got used to the tool, I added one step, which is: after I am able to relax, I slowly lift my head and lower it back to the floor before rolling the tool downward an inch. For the first few inches, it is necessary for me to keep my fingers in place to hold the Ma Roller and keep it from shifting. Once it gets a few inches down your back, it stays in place, and you can move it down your back simply by pushing your body upward over the roller instead of pushing the roller with your hands.
So, in short, I don't roll back and forth with it. It is: Position it. Relax until your muscles soften and the knobs can press deeply without resistence. Then move it an inch further down. Repeat process all the way down.
I stop it halfway down my back and don't use it over the kidney area. I don't find it to be effective in that part of the back and only hurts.

That Ma Roller does look like a good tool. Their website says do NOT use w/ spinal injuries. Does my disk protrusion (C5-C6) count as a spinal injury???
What about the spinal cord lesions from the demyelination? T6-T8 is a particularly long scarring point I have with the others described just as covering a single disk length.

I will add my two cents on this tool.
I would not use it on the lumbar area, ever. So Victoria intuitively has been right in not using the tool on her lower back. Victoria's method also sounds like the best method for using this tool (structurally). I would not roll on it either. LIke she described, I would place it in a spot, lie there for no more that 20 seconds then lift off and place it in another spot.
If rolling on the spine, I would try to lift my body off a bit while rolling to the new pressure point position. (Not having ever used this tool, I'm not sure if that's possible without the risk of moving the tool off the spine.) Always make sure your knees are bent, and feet as close to your rear as possible when using this tool.
This tool (sort of) replicates trigger point work on the back, while the client is lying on their back. I would reach my hand under the back, palm up and press upwards into the back with my fingers. This is one of only a few ways that I've been taught to work the back. Ideally, the back should be in complete extension to work it. This would be like a fetal position, lyng on the side with the knees as close to the chest as the client can put them, and the head resting on a pillow that keeps the spine in alignment. Another way to work the back is client sitting on a bench or the floor with knees up. The client then drops their head and leans forward, spreading the legs as they roll forward.
With the spine in this position, it is protected from the practitioner ever potentially pushing a vertebrae forward towards the front of the body.

I'm coming for a visit!! I had a really great massage therapist here for a while. She moved out of state. She did that and it felt so good. Have yet to find another! I just assumed that was taught in class???

Italy! You comin' to Cali? Woohoo! I would love to show you around this huge place.
There are a gazillion different body therapies/techniques. A basic massage course usually teaches swedish massage techniques. Trigger point work is usually taught in advanced classes. The technique I described I was taught in a structural integration class....(RolfingŪ) which is very advanced bodywork and not massage.

Quoted from Victoria
LuHu, I pm'd you with a bit of discussion on your question.
Thank you Victoria. I will take the suggestion in your pm.

I have worked my trigger points in the same manner with 2 pr of DH's socks.....rolled up....placed them as the ma roller, one on each side of spine etc. feels great...and is a bit softer, but works. (I usually do it in my bed...sound too soft? its not.
Well, I went to the ER last night, pain was so severe, blood work came back wonderful, urine analyzed-clear - no infection, - so they did a kidney cat scan to rule out stones- Well it appears I have a mass in or on the kidney and also several disc at the lower end of the spine (I think he said degenerating) I was told more testing needs to be done probably with an ultrasound, and to contact my doctor. So I was sent home, My mind is remembering other things to during the cat scan I was told to hold my breath the second time and wasn't told to release it and finally had to and the technician said that was fine not to worry that is a long one anyways. So did that movement make the mass appear? or is it real? What can a mass mean? First thoughts, tumor, cyst, cancer. Are there any other options? what about options to get rid of a mass? Thanks for all the help!
Hi geminisue, I just wanted to bump you back up on the list until we get a follow up report from your doctor after the ER visit. Praying for your complete recovery until then.

Any news for us geminisue?

Thanks for your prayers for good wishes. I went to my doctor today, and there is a mass at the top of my right kidney, the picture he drew showed the bottom of it inside the kidney, he said it could be a tumor or it could be a cyst. I am going Tuesday afternoon for a cat scan of the abdominal area with a contrast injected, followed by an ultrasound of the right and left kidney. Won't know the results from my doctor until the following week due to the fact he will be out for the entire week doing something called boards?? some kind of studying he said. He also told me that along the spine at L4 and L5 there are many disc that are rubbing together because there is no longer a cushion in between them, anymore. He said we'll talk more about that later. Does anybody think a master cleanse fast would benefit me at this point? Or just wait and see what I find out?

are you supplementing with glucosamine?

Lola, isn't glucosamine used for the cartiledge between the bones in the joints? Do you think it would replace it between the disc too? (Not using at this time, but have in the pass)
