I have had water retention all my life when I was eating regular food.. I am much better, but ...
I have two friends that retain water at alarming rates.  One is so puffy that her flesh is one inch thick and spongy.. scary she is 50.  the other had lost 100 pds, but the band is losing its effectiveness and she is gaining even on the most stringent dieting.  her job is sitting all day,, bad for he legs.. summer is a problem.  I wonder if she should not take her money form SS as she might not live long enough to live for a a little more income by a postponement to 70?

What are the many cause of water retention?

Neuropathy is one that I am certain of, I think I had a from of neuropathology since childhood- only low carb food helps that.. BTD/Geno is obvious.. but why the causes??

Neuropathy is the malfunction of muscles and nerves in the whole body- including- the brain misfiring info to the body.  Weight resistance training is good for it, but is it enough?

What of sups anyone have ideas.. not about Magnesium, that is only a very small component of this issue.  What of B vitamins?  Any ideas? on anything?  So many suffer silently and the suffering boomerangs in bad behavior.

I wonder how to get organic dandelions.. I would order some from across the country if you know of a place that has them fresh.  I will buy a Nutri bullet and pulverize them .. love the Bitter taste,

Thanks... for any links..

foods high in potassium will help drain off the excess water in your skin.

e.g. raisins, apricots, figs, plums, prunes.. provided it's not on your avoid.

It could be the sodium that also makes you retain water. coupled with carbs it's a sure-fire way to puff up

The main cause is mineral balance being off. (sodium/potassium and magnesium have already been mentioned, but other minerals can play a role)

Vitamins B6 and B5  contribute to fluid retention.

Low levels of albumin levels may  contribute to fluid retention.

Not enough exercise may  contribute to fluid retention.

Kidney issues would  contribute to fluid retention.

Lymphatic system affects fluid retention.

Pregnancy affects fluid retention.

Thyroid issues affect fluid retention.

Blood circulation system health affects fluid retention.

When my sister had kidney failure, she blew up like a balloon (hers was an allergy to NSAIDs, very scary!).

Also, birth control pills/hormonal issues, but not likely at 50?

Carbs hold water. Adrenal fatigue can give some edema. All traces of it gone now with my supplements. As goes for B I can only use the active form PANTHETINE not panthotenic acid because I have about as much a natural deficiency in Panthetine as type A' have natural deficiency in methyl B 12. If B is the answer for water retention, I guess i would advocate every active form of B there is!

I also take more biotin and niacin. And then on top of that a b Complex tablet. And a multivitamin with NO IODINE. Throw in some calcium d glucarate for detox  - keeps things moving.

Weak cells... Low protein, and bad mineral intake. Poor sugar control will make all the factors greatly exaggerated.

Obviously starting the BTD in some form would be best. But doing the cellular mix from D'Adamo would be good along with adding parsley to diet. Phytocal and Polyvite, would probably be a good boost too.

This is where I would start, both are water magnets and both are consumed excessively in most diets. It may not be the ultimate solution but the odds are in favor of being at least partially effective. It is also a rather simple and non-medication oriented approach.

One person has Lyme.. she is responding to my onda/wave sessions. lost nearly 10 pds water in 5 days.  we can see her bones and muscles she had not seen for years.

She will look at all the above and incorporate many suggestions including getting a SWAMI, until she may go to the D'Adamo school for a more personal SWAMI.

Thanks all ...   keep the info coming.. vital that we understand the issues..

MY professional Swami (from school clinic) is incredible.. so many foods I ought not have because of the sugar content.. and then I get puffy too.

With my Professional SWAMI the biggest changes is that I bought all the wrong supplements before!!!!that alone is worth getting it from Dr.D' Professional SWAMI. .. Saves money in the long run..

Thanks all ...   keep the info coming.. vital that we understand the issues..

Heart issues can cause one to retain fluids.  Has your friend had a checkup lately?

pls drink alot of water, though we're talking about water retention, but drinking alot of fluids helps to flush all the toxins that causes the water retention out from our body.

This person is doing well, after she dropped all that stagnant fluid.

Seeing 1 of the underlying causes of her misery in illness, she is now able to take a totally different track to help her body recover strength and eliminate what is not needed.  I expect that in a years time she will be miles better, just as the person who was here 3 years ago and today is doing so well that she could teach out of country, even.   At one time she was hospitalized a month without ability to talk.  She came from way down on the survival scale.  I am always so happy when I can help someone looking at illness from a different perspective.  Healing is possible by strengthening the whole body.

The Lyme is one issue which often gets worse when the conventional treatments are being used.
