I know people have posted on here about taking deflect immediately after having avoids - like during holiday dinners - and that "they made it through ok." What did they mean by that, exactly? Did they take the Deflect so they could "have" their avoids?

I'm still suffering pain and somewhat swollen after ingesting 2 of my worst avoids last night by mistake and luckily the Deflect had come in the mail. But even after being on my SWAMI for ...what....a year, year and a half......this hurts and I'm not thinking as well as on the days I do when I'm clear of corn and wheat products! Was is just a bunch of secretors taking Deflect that were making said comments about enjoying their holiday food

I am following through with the full day's dose and will continue for 48 hours instead of just 24.

I wonder if people are going to tell me to add Intrinsia, etc......plz keep in mind I am an Explorer and it seems like a bother that Deflect can't "do it all" in one bottle if it's name is Deflect.

I have used Deflect A as a lectin scrubber, while still avoiding most toxins.  I found when I followed
the BTD and not a SWAMI, I felt Deflect was useful..But many avoid foods that were on my BTD
list are acceptable SWAMI foods....I just don't feel Deflect is going to undo a SWAMI toxin overnight.
You might not experience effects that you can perceive.....your body still might have to work on
detoxing the toxins you ate and if you read below what Dr. D has said about Deflect, you might
understand that it MIGHT have some value as a morning after pill, but it's not a guarantee.

I also think it works best to block foods like wheat.  Not every toxin on your SWAMI list is going
to be cleared away and prevent a negative reaction just because you took Deflect right after eating the
wrong foods. The longer you follow this way of eating, the more this will make sense to you.  The diet
becomes self correcting.  I find I feel lousy if I eat toxins, no matter what I take or do to try and prevent
that reaction.

Dr. D.....quoted from above link

"Deflect isn't going to allow you to regularly consume avoids any more than a bulletproof vest can't protect your head, arms or legs. It may have some value as a 'morning-after' pill, but beyond that I would not posit... It is used to primarily repair lectin damage, typically by lowering the activity of lectins in the gut and blood. Some lectins are not food derived (such as bacteria, Candida, pollen, or even our own immune systems) and dietary avoidance will not inhibit them."

Well that's good to know. Like I said mine was an accident. It arose from some sauce that was on my food.

What would be a good example of a lectin "from our own immune systems" - that is a very mysterious statement?

I'm not sure of the scientific definitive answer..  What comes to mind is a leaky gut/dysbiosis...the body's normal mechanisms gone awry from faulty eating which allowed toxins to go directly from the gut into the blood....causing a negative change in the immune system because high toxicity exists.  With dysbiosis, food isn't being properly absorbed and nutrients aren't working to support the immune system as it should.

So maybe "lectin" in this context isn't comparable to a food lectin....but the damage is evident
by observing that the body isn't functioning properly. It can be causing a weakened immune
system where a person gets sick often...or the flip side, auto-immunity from an over active
immune system.  But the body must work hard to clear the circulating toxicity.

This makes it ever more clear why healing the gut is job #1. There are no shortcuts and Deflect
is just a small tool in the overall healing process.
