Hi Nonnie Clubhouse,
I've not posted since months. I was sick with mouth inflammation and sad.
Actually i have candida to heal again because i ate too much sugars.
It's hard: Hard to be so different, so sensitive, my dad and mum, sister rejected me, the need of red meat, the danger of sugars, the impossibility of vegetarianism without health issues...
I want to have nonnie friends ! I need to talk with nonnies like me.
I wish you the best nonnie day !!!
Adora

You are so right, Goldie, you couldn't have described it better! I never, never buy plain old sugar. I don't buy products that have it in them, either. I have gotten averse to the sugar in fruits, too, so I don't eat nearly as much as I have in the past - which was a LOT! I didn't make a single dessert during T'giving, and nobody minded in the least! A whole world of difference in the way it used to be!! I'm so glad to see children brought up not to expect that "sugar fix" after a meal!

Adora, it is good that you are back - you hang around with us, and things will change, I guarantee it!!

I have bought agave nectar. I tested with salad dressing yesterday, with lemon and tahini. Very good, indeed.

Chocolate ! i've tried in the past and i remember how i was sick like liver crisis and nervous disease during several days. I deleted from my diet. For me, cacao is a poison.

Wish you the best too, thank you,

Thank you

I assume this question is referring to the sugar obtained from sugar cane.  If so, the rating for sugar in Typebase is the proper one to use for BTD:
http://www.dadamo.com/typebase4/depictor5.pl?409

If you are using GTD or SWAMI, use the rating proper for that plan.

It's a black dot toxin for Explorers anyway.  Just as well you don't feel well on it, because it's not really good for you.

I had some hair analysis/allergy testing done & one of the things that came back was beet sugar?! Everything else that came back as high/bad, was spot on with Explorer sensitivities/avoids interestingly enough (& not surprisingly)...
I have now read that beet sugar was developed at the height of the battles over trade & price of cane sugar & was a cheaper commodity so helped lower the price & stranglehold/trade embargo over sugar to the lower classes... Not necessarily a good thing as it allowed many more people to afford sugar
I don't ever intend to eat other sugar, but just wondering if therefore cane sugar is at all better?

Is sugar cane an avoid ?... CANE SUGAR = SUGAR!

Blue agave tastes sugary but the body interprets it differently, the same with mineral rich molasses.

Same with Trehalose.  I AM ABOUT TO BUY PLAIN TREHALOSE ON THE INTERNET.. JUST TO USE AS SWEET REPLACEMENT OF SUGAR!  TREHALOSE is not supposed to SPIKE INSULIN. I will look for Trehalose from mushrooms rather than corn.. as I think that would be safer.

Careful, Trehalose has a energizing effect if taken after three pm. I forgot and took a spoon  this eventing, now I am up all night..

I think i eat too much fruits and to be honest, berries or raspberries don't make me sick as apples or cherries. FOLLOW YOUR BODY IT KNOWS.. BERRIES HAVE MUCH LESS SUGAR TO SPIKE INSULIN

For me the biggest sugar comes from all forms of GRAINS!! even if no sugar is added.

In place of grains I have recently added some COMPLIANT beans to fill me.

Cane sugar is "better" in the sense that there's currently no commercial varieties of genetically modified sugar cane being produced. Beet sugar is mostly GMO (genetically modified organism) now. If an ingredient just reads "sugar" it could be made from beet and/or cane sugar, and may be GMO. I will buy products with "cane sugar" for my kids to have as occasional treats, but I won't buy things with "sugar" added because of the GMO issue.

I personally can't eat sugar though. I tolerate molasses and agave, but not in large quantities. SWAMI only gives me a teaspoon of sweeteners and 1/2 cup of fruit per day. If I go over that on a regular basis, it interferes with weight loss. If I eat more than double that in one day, it messes up blood sugar control.

I do buy white granulated cane sugar for a few reasons. I like to have it available for guests. Hannah likes to use it in hot cocoa, and she keeps the portions reasonable- she won't have more than a cup a day and it's not every day. Leah can't eat the stuff, but uses it in an exfoliating body scrub. This scrub doesn't clog the drains the way other scrubs might (since sugar dissolves easily in water), doesn't contain any weird additives like commercial body scrubs, and is inexpensive.

I also have had problems with sugar since childhood, but did not connect food with health back then.
Maple syrup has a cooling effect on me and my liver, plus is minimally processed and has some minerals.  Raw honey, a little is ok for me, and I've put molasses in a fresh ginger cake which is nice. Agave, nice in small quantities.
Sugars in many forms ie fruits, some veg, grains; can affect anyone if they have underlying health issues or weaknesses.  More vegetables make us stronger. Yes, sugar (and excess fats) feeds viruses and cancers, remember excess sugar and fruits end up as fats (as mentioned in Macrobiotic books).
Ayurvedic doctors don't agree with cocoa for anyone, more info on net and Fran's House of Ayurveda; nice recipes made with carob. may work for some blood types/genotypes. Carob is sweet on its own too!
Is easy to make sweets at home, with carob or cocoa, just a few ingredients and nice with cup of tea!
too much sweeteners of anykind weaken blood, so let's keep up our proteins and vegetables, nuts, seeds!

I've never seen anything but cane sugar in the stores sold for home baking- even the cheap white granulated stuff. It's only in processed foods that beet sugar is  commonly used.

Thank you Goldie, precious information about agave syrup.
Currently, i eat quinoa in order to sustain me. And you know what ? My gums are grateful. And i feel more peaceful than after eating bananas.
I must forget bananas. I used to eat lots of them, wrong way.

I've got white granulated white cane sugar too. I used to add it to my verbena tea. Currently, i don't tolerate sugar. I want to break the habit of that sugar to heal. Three days with just vegetables, quinoa, oils, raspberries, lots of greens. It's hard. I'm feel like a sugar junkie ! It must end.
Good idea the body scrub !!! I'll try it !
Thank you.

I used to be a major sugar junkie and now have not eaten sugar for 10 years.  But I hear you about the 'withdrawals'!  I went into a melancholy cloud for a couple of weeks after I stopped using sugar.  Now I consider it a great poison.

When you crave it, step in the shower and do a sugar scrub.  At least you can then tell your body it got its' dose of sugar for the day!
