I bought http://www.dandyblend.com coffee substitute instant powder made out of dandelion which is ok, but gluten free extract of roasted barley I am not sure of... and chicory root.... It is nice to make in a cup add whatever and all done.. tastes enough like coffee to fool me.. and it might be ok for diabetes and is gluten free even though I don't have that as a issue.. what does anyone think about it? |

I wouldn't worry about the dandilion or the chicory (which is a diamond for me on SWAMI), but I wouldn't touch the roasted barley extract with a 10 foot pole. Both barley and barley malt are outright avoids for me. |

I just checked DD1's SWAMI, and I see that she has barley malt as neutral, but then chicory root is a black dot. See if you can give this mixture away to a friend who can drink it, unless you want to keep it on hand for guests and you think you have the willpower to not drink it yourself.
Stick to green tea and cocoa powder. |

Thanks for looking that up...
Barley • is black dot.. on my swami..
I tried this coffee substitute.. it is a refreshing PEACEful drink to have.. the flavor is real, I can fool me, but the calm that comes from it is wonderful..
I am trying it for now, to get that feeling of NO caffeine in any drink even though I have done that already.. but this might be another 'transition'.. I will know soon enough..
I am also looking at some more stuff in it..

well this is what I would report..
I like it.. a good taste..
but I think I might pass copious gas*** that I normally do not.. so the grains are most likely the issue.. I am really sad about that, I liked the PEACEfulness..
But I also have done the Tblspoon of olive oil, and the raw egg ... so it could be those two also.. will test some more.. and report.
I also will look for a grain free coffee substitute.. Maybe try old fashion chicory - might find it in a Spanish store? have to look up the value of it .. |

Ummm these two statements do not add up (Just stirring) Wonder re the raw egg, as it gave me a reaction Most likely not just one on its own... Maybe try just the drink in day or so |

Fodmaps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fructose_malabsorptionstav off hunger? God that's a question and a half. the trick is to eat the right fats, and stick to blood type diet, but keep suar super low for a period of time. the less aviods and suagrs and high carbs you eat the easier it gets but it can take a year or more even. but don't get bogged down with FM, the original problesm is the gut WHEAT is the big casue i think. Follow Dr D - he knows best. Goldie i'll email you your own personal copy. when i get a mo. but short term http://drbass.com/addiction.html |
