Could anyone tell me what are the Major Avoids for type O nonnies?
So far, the main thing for me is SOY.
Apples, too, are an avoid for some reason.
Wondering how much SWAMI could alter things.
BTW, what are the POSSIBLE genotypes for O nonnies? I see lots of Gatherers.... |

The major avoids for O nonnies, and O's in general are:
wheat most dairy, excluding eggs depending upon your ethnicity??? corn pork coffee sugar
There are certain types of sugar O's can have but there are very few.
I agree with C Sharp. The food lists in Live Right For Your Type are updated. |

Are you asking about the "major avoids for O nonnies in general" or "the major avoids for O nonnies that O secretors can have"? Soy, spelt, oats, cheeses (but SWAMI/GTD will give you back different cheeses), apples, apricots. But then nonnies get to eat lentils, coconut oil (yum!) and avocadoes (super yum!) All Os need to avoid wheat, most dairy, pork, oranges, coconuts, cashews, cucumbers, coffee (and apparently any other foods that begin with a "C" ) |

Except CHOCOLATE, Ruthie!!!! Superfood for me!!!!!! This O nonnie Gatherer can have oats (which, strangely enough, always give me indigestion). Other avoids for O's in general are potatoes and kidney beans. |

Unless we have arthritis or other auto-immune conditions. No tomatoes for me. Chocolate is fine for any O, isn't it? It's just that nonnies can't have the sugar that's in most available chocolates. I did see an agave-sweetened chocolate at the HFS once, and had a sample even though it has vanilla in it (avoid on my SWAMI.) I won't buy it with the avoid ingredient though. I think I may buy some unsweetened baking chocolate, melt it, stir in agave, and let it re-harden. If i ever get around to experimenting with that, I'll be sure to post it to the recipe base. |

If Type O+, Hunter, has arthritis, it's okay to eat tomatoes? Vanilla is a void? What about Steevia sweetner ? |

Nonnie is a cutesie way of saying "non-secretor." Here's some information on secretor status (who's a secretor and who's a non-secretor, aka "nonnie.") http://www.dadamo.com/knowbase/newbie/a.htmThe most updated list of foods can be found here: http://www.dadamo.com/typebase4/typeindexer.htmThat's only for BTD (blood type diet.) The GTD (genotype diet) food lists can't be found online; you have to buy or borrow a copy of The Genotype Diet book for those lists. Many of us have a SWAMI- a personalized computer-generated diet that blends BTD and GTD for each individual. That costs more money and is a little more complex to figure out- most of us start out with one of the diets from a book, and then move on from there. |

great feedback, folks! thanks again. this is one friendly online community.
i'm really hoping to jump on the SWAMI thing soon, since it--as ruthiegirl so eloquently put it--"blends BTD and GTD for each individual". |

Why is coffee so bad for O Nonies? It's one of the few 'bad things' I do, I have iced coffee with Lactaid milk in it. I feel fine all the time and don't have any health or weight challenges. So, please somebody tell me why coffee is bad for me. It's my one treat. |

I did buy some unsweetened baking chocolate on my birthday, and ate some without melting and sweetening it first. It's absolutely delicious just the way it is! Why does everybody else ruin perfectly good chocolate with sugar and vanilla? |
