Welcome to the nonnie club, Linda!  I often felt very different from my family, with the exception of my DH and DD's.  They all think I'm crazy for evaluating my health all the time.  Once I discovered the BTD/GTD and found out my secretor status it all made sense and my health issues have improved so much.  Now if I could just get my family on board with it all...????

Thanks JaymeA, I always felt odd, different, but now at least I understand why. In reading this thread I see myself all over these posts, and that I am not alone....thanks for the welcome, you all are so nice...

No it was me that said that to her... sadly it wasn't the first time...I always felt like I was different and really didn't belong in my family...I know that must sound very strange...my poor mom...haha...dealing with all of our different personalities and then there's me...

O Nonnie - there sre some things on my beneficial list that I cannot eat, such as tomatoes and chili peppers, which I react badly to. Most of the avoids are what I thought to be "allergies", but now I'm questionning this. Another beneficial is grapefruit, which makes me very shaky and weak. So, I follow all of the other bene's, and avoids, and do very well, with the above exceptions. I don't think the diet has improved my tolerance, but for some of them I wouldn't dare eat it because I will (I'm preety sure) end up with a massive headache, or diarrhea, or sleep all day. So, I have a lot of motivation to keep on the plan.

I love dogs and turtles, bird watching, canoeing, cooking for friends and family, knitting, reading, and DR. D's diets!

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

Hi Poppy,

Yes the detective work is mind boggling sometimes. I can't have all of my beneficials either. Lentils make me extremely ill...nausea, violent vomiting, severe cramping, and puffy eyes, about 3 hours after I eat them...pea protein did the same exact thing to me. So I will never eat them again. I believe that is a true allergy...and irregardless of the label I won't even try them again.

When I got my secretor status it allowed me to have coconut oil, but it immediately caused me to get that heat in my body, that I get when I eat dairy, and that keeps me awake at night...plus bloating and gas...so I won't eat it...I've suspected coconut oil many times, but I like it, so I keep trying...anyway...Ghee is making me bloat, gassy, and greasy stools...so I can't have it either... Really disappointed about that one...we were in love...well I guess I was...

I know I can't have butter, those are diamonds for me, the three of them and I react to all of them...

So it's still trial and error. The lentils never but the oils...I hope so one day...I too am very motivated to stay on the diet...especially now as a nonnie, I know it's even more important. I wish you well...

Awwwww Goldie...I have to give you a hug, because it's not easy to never have anything like that and I know how bad it feels, well we all do, and how old the suffering gets. I hope you're feeling better today...you did make me laugh though, I missed the name change...   at least you still have your sense of humor...I missed your post last night we must have been posting at the same time....no more bagels, mayo, or cheese for you missy...Was it good? sorry I couldn't help it.
