I can figure out the breakfast: Cocoa powder in hot water, 1 egg or protein powder. lunch: turkey or 3 oz meat and plenty of vegetables. Dinner: meat and vegetables.. so far so good.. my choices for fruit right now are mangos and prunes..(and for right now w few weeks no nuts) ... so my question is the fruit alone to sweet? and how much would be to much. I am allowed small amounts of some cheese, and I could have some veg proteins and rice / grains -- but I am terrified to eat them .. they all may start cravings hard to control.. When I am under stress then I am looking for snacks.. I am afraid of sugar in fruit alone, so can someone suggest what I am doing wrong, or what I should do.. I really want to lose weight.. but there is confusion here.. its in my head... something is missing -- like more oil that is no more on my Swami, and I don't want to add more chocolate, nor ice cream.. so what is left? I am at a lost.. if I asked the same question before and you answered then please forgive me, but I am not able to figure it out.. UNLESS : should I eat a sweet potatoe? what would that do in comparison?? sugar wise? I usually keep them for lunch or dinners..in slices..??? |

Thanks Lola.. It's not about the item - its about the sugar conversion issues.. I am not getting what a diabetic can have for in between.. other then food which I eat 3 times ok,, I mean I can have some chocolate, but I don't know how much that would spike or mess with glucose levels becoming to low.. I think I am confusing low glucose issues (geminisue) with having eaten high glycemic / sugary foods.. triggering insulin issues.. But I have never experienced it (that I am aware of- other then be sleepy) so I am uncertain on what I am really looking for.. My 3 meals are low glycemic with protein, but for snacks I am at a loss .. is fruit 1 mango/or pineapple/prunes (exactly how many on its own alone to much sugar? I am sorry to be so thick headed, and that I just don't get these high low sugar issues. My brain tells me to eat no sugar/carbs.. and then I think I should eat some carbs.. but with what? to negate the sugar uptake? slow it down.. I am sorry.. and it's not alzheimers -just thick in the waist and in the thinking processes = I am not processing ,, haha |

Its a question of sugar balance.. or balancing sugar ratio to the diabetes needs.. |

Goldie- how about trying a fruit serving =15 carbs like 3 prunes with your serving 1/4cup (if I remember right) for one snack like 1/2 cup crushed pineapple or pineapple chunks, with 1 or 2 ounces of turkey cut very thin like 1/2 cup mangle cut up with 1 or 2 ounces of beef or lamb cut into tiny squares, maybe use a toothpick jab the meat, jab the fruit,
Enjoy! Relax! Take a 30-60 minute walk once or twice a day! The weight will come off! I lost 7 lbs in a month, following my swami pretty closely! |

I would never serve fruit alone but with some kind of fat or protein. lIke nuts or meat - and for me cheese
I don´t think lots of fruit alone is a good idea -even without diabetes I only get 2 servings pr day. |

I second that idea of serving fruit with some fat or protein to slow down the absorption of the sugars... & I have to admit I still question those prunes tbh Prunes (dried plums) are on the list for Birch Pollen allergy,(various reactions) Plus they are high in sorbitol which are a short chain carbohydrate that are poorly absorbed & can cause gastrointestinal disorders...varying from abdominal pain, bloating, wind, reflux, diarrhoea and/or constipation Any of which can stop weight loss... Have you ever tried chia seeds? They are incredibly versatile & can satisfy your need for more filling foods, without setting off cravings... Try them as a dessert, soaked in water mixed with cocoa (& a tsp of cream?) Should keep you satiated for hours... Also - are you sure you aren't eating/craving snacks out of deprivation/boredom? You don't list above, any fats in your diet, plus imo is just cocoa in hot water & 1 egg in the morning enough Especially as it is only just out of winter??!! What happened to your bone broth? |

THANKS ALL... yes this will solve the sugar spikes issues. THANKS.. yes, I needed to remind ME of the broth.. I will start again.. and the possibility of having on egg sliced for brunch .. one other thing you reminded ME of, is to split the vegetables into more portions.. ( I felt I was eating to much bulk at once anyway) so making one into one for 4 pm salad with oil and spices to satisfy the munchies will be great.. maye make it a finger food instead of using a fork like celery or green beans and endives - nice -need to look for seeds but here they seem not to have any or only in bite size packages,, prohibitive $.- ha ha .. and I might actually be better of doing the fruit /mango and pineapples/ with my meat for lunch and dinner. AND I just checkedmy Swami list - no more PRUNES!!!.. no wonder but they served a purpose for a while.. but maybe the reflux came from them?? as just one contributing item? THANKS for the heads up!!!! [s]as for the prunes, yes the sugar might be a big issue for the sugar spikes of it, NO WONDER Ifelt compelled to ask the question again.. something was nagging at me = prunes!! If I am right in mixing the sweets with my protein meat or turkey lunch and dinner, do you think I will do damage to my acid reflux? I have been good these past days,, have no longer any throat pain and am making sure to lye on my LEFT side side and elevated after food intake.. I am also trying yams for in between? or does it need protein to go with.. THANKS. again all .. the left is to keep the stomach valve closed..I feel that it is working.. A question: which side is better for the heart? |
