for health reasons as it is most important for people with sugar issues to keep the feet in good shape.. I am getting pedicures but as often as she removes the skin it just grows back worse.. dry..
what can I do?
thanks.. I am willing to wear shoes as long as they are open.. I can hardly wear socks as my feet feel hot.. I would furthermore buy a plastic slip in to keep stuff on my skin if I had any hope of fixing the dry skin. when i used cream before it made my feet look dirty.. is there a way to avoid that?
I wonder if there is a protocol for skin.. I need to look at the encyclopedia..
i also have brittle finger nails.. in fact one ring finger on my left hand is splitting lengthwise. tnx |

Goldie, I have pre diabetic tendencies, and my thumbs are dry and calloused. I was researching skin issues for diabetics and found that alpha lipoic acid is helpful. I know there is some in the gatherer catalyst, but I think higher amounts are important for diabetics. You may already be taking some, but I wanted to mention that one. |

One way this repair mechanism works is by 'prying off' lectins which have already adhered to cellular receptors, such as insulin. Since insulin blockage by dietary lectins has been linked to both insulin resistance and obesity, using DEFLECT can help accelerate weight reduction in diet-compliant individuals by speeding up the time it takes for the regeneration of new insulin receptors or the 'cleansing' of the old ones.
don t forget to pop your deflect and cure your gut along with insulin receptors.....you will see big changes, on your skin surface as well.... body brushing, hydration |

Goldie, are you eating all your protein servings?? Years ago when I did the High Protein only diet.. one of the good side affects was that my feet got the best skin ever. I lost years of caluses and dry flakey skin on my heels Watch the carbs. They play havoc with my hypoglycemic system. |

I ordered the gatherer catalist.. have it also in some of the alpha ... in the protein powder.. so for just a few weeks I will try this and then see what else is happening..
I eat enough or even to much protein ..but I still need to improve on the rest of the foods.. and spices.. changes are good..
thanks |

thanks
That's interesting, Goldie, because I've always found that cuticle condition is protein-linked, and that excessive meat-eating can be related to cuticle problems. Why not google around and look into it? |

I just saw this..
Other home remedies include applying a mashed ripe banana on the heel for 10 minutes, then washing off. You can also soak your feet in lemon juice for 10 minutes, then dry thoroughly. Repeat weekly until your condition improves.
Before bed, wash your feet in warm, soapy water. Dry thoroughly. Make a healing lotion using 1 tsp. petroleum jelly and the juice of one lemon. Rub the mixture on the heel and cover with a sock. Repeat daily until cracked heels improve.
Mix equal quantities of glycerin and rosewater. Continue to apply the solution until it cures your cracked heels.
the Petrolium jelly is called Vasoline?/ a doctor many years ago told me that iyts the best for skin care/ moisturizing..
I will try some things.. my diet is changing so that may be a good thing.. either way my protein is changing too.. so with the new sup.. I will see how it goes..
thanks.. |

Candida can also cause dry, cracked skin on the bottom of the feet...I have experienced it. They had healed but are dry again, and the rest of my skin too. I think it is the EFA's I'm missing because of gall bladder issues. I mention all of this in case any of it might strike a note with you. |

I was told that Vaseline should not be used on the skin, being a mineral oil it is not good for us?? Same with Baby Oil. I like to use Papaya ointment for anything like cracked skin, nappy rash, dry lips etc. |

Vaseline, petroleum, mineral oil and baby oil a big NO NO!!! You are correct Ladyhawk, stay away from it. I am not one for "ointments" either because they usually have petroleum based products hidden in them amongst the ingredients. Lotion bars are great for dry cracked skin you can make your own or buy them at the HFS for about $15. If you don't want to go to the bother of making them, get some unrefined shea butter and apply it to the problem area. |

Uremol 20 cream is what I use. It's fragrance free. I just put it on at bedtime every night and I notice a slight improvement in the morning. |

Thanks so much .....ok so I am not doomed -- I will get some things to try.. My feet 'feel' hot for the last 20 years..) when I put closed shoes on they get cold and feel moist and then get cold.. so I wear only open Birkenstock sandals (even in winter) or nothing (I buy a new pair every year, and have many as -- they last -- worth the price-- all natural cork and leather.. Thanks all .. from the bottom of my heels! |

Cloe.. I take issue with any anti bacterials for the long run. I am also not suffering from athletes foot.. BUT still thanks..
I think for now I am looking to use just some things.... what I really wanted to know is that it could be reversed, so that the pedicure does not make it worse.. over the years..
cuticals are not on issue, so I am lucky.. and SWAMI will help. |

Shea butter, calendula, olive oil are good substitutes for petroleum based formulas. This looked like a good product http://www.saffronrouge.com/balm-balm/tea-tree-foot-balm
Avoids are ok topically. Or if you are that worried about it, take dried calendual and infuse it in a compliant oil for several weeks. Calendula is sooooooo very good for the skin. |

I think Manuka Honey sounds worth trying.
My favorite skin balm is calendula with shea butter and olive oil. |

There are different types of Uremol. The hydrocortisone cream is available by prescription and is called Uremol HC. The one I recommend for dry feet is Uremol 20 with 20% urea. Uremol 10 also works and it's got 10% urea. The urea is synthetic as far as I know. It's not very expensive and a little goes a long way. I also sometimes use it on my hands and cuticles. I would recommend a pedicure and then use the Uremol 20 every night at bedtime under cotton socks. |
