I was thinking...
Why are we all really here? Why do other people not seem to care? And why do we all find it so annoying that other people just don't seem to understand why we work so hard at following our BTD/GTD's?
It comes down to this very idea...
Why would you buy a cd player if you didn't have any cds to listen to?
All of us here have health concerns or we would simply not care either. The people that don't seem to care just haven't had enough reason to push them into trying to find something that works. And we all find it so annoying because just like anyone that has found something good we want so much to share it with those people around us. It just doesn't make any sense to us as we also see some of our friends holding cds and saying they really want to listen to the music on them but when you try to explain to them that they just need a cd player they aren't interested. LAME! lol
I have noticed an unusually high number of nonnies and Explorers. So answer as many as apply on the poll. Thanks! |

Just feel good on my SWAMI, no health concerns. Just really believe in what Dr. D'Adamo is doing. |

I had digestive issues from low stomac acid and silent celiac disease, so I saw the books ER4YT and later LRYT and it made a lot of sense. I had me tested for celiac disease and serotyping panel and Lewis antigen early, very enlightening Dr D books ! |

Weight loss and other assorted health issues, nothing critical...yet. Glad I found BTD and SWAMI sooner rather than later. |

It's what you don't know that you don't know. I was blind to the issues of inflammation I have because I thought it was just a fact in the aging process. After following the protocol I saw marked improvement in my joint flexibility and my sinuses clearing up. Said a different way, I didn't know that I didn't know I had issues that needed to be addressed. |

I have multiple health issues, nothing really major although I do have Syndrome X. I want to prevent getting anything worse or having more symptoms from this syndrome, plus just get healthier. |

The BTD was the only diet similar to my own theory of foods, which is that you shouldn't eat anything that your ancestors didn't eat. I applied this to such things as tropical foods (particularly mangoes), which I considered "alien" to my Italian and German ancestors. |
| My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant. Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index. DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer. |

Why would you buy a cd player if you didn't have any cds to listen to?
The heading is very attractive and it works! I actually bought both my first CD and DVD players before I had any CD or DVD, but it didn't take long until I had a nice CD/DVD collection. Moreover, along the years I found myself purchasing items which I liked a lot but at the time had not idea exactly what purpose they were going to serve. This was revealed in time, and all of them came into their daily intensive use. When one day I suddenly assumed BTD I had no idea that I was suffering from a severe health condition. I simply needed it to save my life. |

'Cause everyone else has one! ! Seriously, something just made me buy the book and years later when I needed it there it was on my book shelf! It was the second "diet" book I had purchase in my life as I didn't believe in dieting. The first book was "The 8 week cholesterol diet" which did work for me. PS. The library has lots of CD's |

I love hearing that other people just felt drawn to this without even feeling sick. That is awesome!
I can't say I would have searched for health information if I had always been healthy. I don't think I would have become a Massage Therapist either. Pain and illness are not fun but with any trials in life they are great teaching tools. I wouldn't give back the health issues I've struggled with. I am actually grateful for them.
Thanks for sharing everyone! |

I would like to think I would have found my way here eventually as I am fairly proactive. I had issues, but now others who don't have anything significant are benefiting from me pointing them to Dr. D's work. |

Have people actually read Eat Right for Your Type? or own the books?
Or have they even read the website information?
Do people just kind of follow general guidelines like O's need meat... A's should eat a vegetarian diet?
Lectins are a huge part of this way of eating and very blood type specific. Reading the book is so important, even if you can't manage the whole book at least read your section. |

Sorry, not understanding the questions you are posing. What I have asked is what problems DID we have prior to the blood type diet and what got us here. I don't have any of the problems I once had and feel amazing! I think this is a case of misunderstanding. |

I was facing some health issues, but more then anything wanted to loose weight. Then one day someone showed me his pictures of a year ago and I looked at how thin he was now and he told me "blood type diet". So I went to the bookstore and found a little translated book with the basics and was intrigued. Then I found ER4YT and LR4YT and as I read them I had so many points of recognition. I searched the web and found this wonderful site.
As I got deeper into BTD I also realized how huge my health issues actually were, and noticed that it was helping me on a much deeper level, not only body wise but also mentally. |

I had plenty of health issues, but after watching my older siblings "live with it", I decided I wasn't going to accept it and wanted to choose a different path, whatever it took.
I stick with it, to the best of my ability, because it works and I regret it sooner or later if I stray. The only luck I've had with my sibling's diets has been with gluten. They just don't "get it" when it comes to BTD. My parents, three siblings, and 5 nieces/nephews are now gluten free, with amazing results. One or three more need it, but the fact that my Dad went gluten free was the biggest surprise and miracle I never expected...he used to think gluten free was a fate worse than death. |

Melissa - Gluten free is a huge step! Even people following the BTD/GTD struggle with that one being their last thing to avoid. Good on ya for helping them all!

\ No I understand you just fine. but if you don't understand me then.. I am making another point that many people say they follow but often have not read the books or looked over the website, preferring to take hearsay information from the forums. my questions are rhetorical. |

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and then had a thyroid cancer and parathyroid adenoma. Someone I know whose son is on the US Olympic team told me her son was on the diet for health reasons. A few days later I was getting my hair cut and colored and there was a copy of the book sitting there. I picked it up and saw what problems O's have that don't eat right and went right out and bought the book. That was in the mid 90s and I've never looked back. I'm pretty compliant to the O diet and one of these days I'm get my SWAMI done. |

I voted for "I had/have a health condition," I had/have weight to lose," and "I had/have aches and general body pain."
I also checked off "I didn't have health concerns but wanted to take really good care of myself" because that's what I'm doing for/with my children. But I never would have found BTD for any of us if not for my own health issues. |

A health condition was not the reason I decided to follow the BTD. I smoked, so I wanted to eat healthy to make up for it. I’ve tried quitting numerous times but always fall off the wagon. I read up on all kinds of vitamin and herb literature. I gained some weight during menopause. I lost 30 lbs in 3 months by following “Body for Life” when I turned 50 in 2001. But the food choices didn’t agree with me. I still do the exercises. I then tried the metabolic diet but that didn’t seem to match me very well either. Then I came across ERFYT read about B’s reaction to chicken and corn. I was sold and never looked back. This explained my allergies and food sensitivities. I was always accused of being a fussy eater and this vindicated my food choices.
I had a health issue, benign tumors removed from my left leg in 2002 and left ovary in 2003 but I had already been on my healthy living style search by then. I didn’t join this forum until January 6, 2006 according to my profile, but had been following the BTD before that, but not as seriously as I do now. So I just chose” Nonnie took the test”. |

i have always shunned "fad" diets. my mother tried to get me off wheat for several years before she handed me the bt book. i had made several conclutions about some foods relating to how they made me fell and everything the book said made sence. funny, before i went on the diet i would have told you i was healthy, if a bit tired which i put down to a very stressful relationship. i would say it took three months to notice a huge change not only in my energy but in my bowles and a number of other things as well that were all small and i had ignored (in some cases) for years. |

BTD saved my life (100 lbs +, high blood pressure, depression). BTD+ sec status for arthritis (anti-inflammation) saved my job, which in turn saved my live. It also pointed out that I have/had serious candidiasis problems. GTD kicked off some serious detoxing but brought about other problems. Swami finally saved my from GTD and has been slowly taking care of me and even slightly improving me ever since. My mother (O-sec who just needs btd) often wonders why I'm never tempted to stray and seem to fear it more than anything. The answer is because I know that will regret it. Sometimes the regrets don't linger but often they do. Anything that promotes inflammation that lasts more than a day risks my job/career. As if that weren't bad enough, anything that would promote candida in me is simply evil. Those things/foods just aren't worth the risk. They can't be. Setting aside the extremes, even a little flaking out seems to send me off track of my goals: healthy weight (still not there!), healthy skin (rashes! ), healthy mind, no inflammation, no more (God forbid!!) candidasis. And last time wasn't even my fault. Sure, I had some black dots a Christmas, but my real problem was a supplement change that caused an allergy rash. I try and try and try. I've been so good, and tried so hard, where's my reward? I live, I breath, my arms don't hurt today, the rashes are fading (Finally!!!!), there is hope for my future and I still feel pretty good mentally. Look how far I've come. There, that's my reward. |
