I am a Type O Nonsecretor.  Before I found out my secretor status I was relieved that as a Type O, I could have Almond Milk and infrequently could have mozerella and feta cheese.  Those items are listed as Avoid for O Nonnies, though.  My biggest problem is with breakfast--I have Dr D's Protein Powder Blend O with 16 oz of Almond Milk every morning.  It is impossible to have the powder in water or fruit juice as it tastes terrible and does not mix well; and there are other problems with having that much fruit juice anyway.  Can anyone tell me what the problem is with Almond Milk for O Non-secretors?

I'm an O nonnie and I also have almond milk as an Avoid (for me, in Swami), although almonds and almond butter are bene's.  I don't know if it's the added gums and other ingredients in almond milk that cause it to be an Avoid.  Perhaps others might have some addt'l info.  I have been meaning to ask others on this forum if home-made almond milk would be ok, since it's just almonds and water, both of which are bene's for me...

One other thought:  rice milk is a beneficial beverage for me.  Perhaps rice milk might be an option for you to substitute for your almond milk?

It could be the almond milk concentrates some element of the almonds, more than you would get if you just ate almonds.

Or, it could be that other ingredients in commercial almond milk are the culprit, such as gums and stabilizers.

Until you hear otherwise from C_Sharp or Lola, etc, try making your own.  It's easy and good!

Thanks, Victoria!  I had not thought of making my own.  Is it that easy to press the liquid out of almonds?  That would be a great solution.

Thanks, Dr. Pepper.  I tried rice milk and it works also, except that it has a stronger flavor than almond milk and a lot more calories.  Also, rice is only Neutral (but I guess that's better than the Avoid label for almond milk).   I think you and Victoria are right about the other ingredients in almond milk probably being the culprit.

Have you found it anywhere?  There's another thread on this forum about accessing buffalo milk.  If you know a source, perhaps you could post it there if you haven't already.

It seems to me that if almond butter is a beneficial food, then adding water wouldn't change it.  Almond milk can be made with just ground almonds and water so it doesn't make sense to me that it could be anything other than commercially added ingredients...

If you make your own, you will be fine! It's the extra ingredients, you can't have!

I am in London, UK. I have not sourced it yet. I am having the same trouble finding goose eggs. There is a supermarket that does these products (Waitrose) but I have to travel to the larger stores in more expensive areas.
