It seems that now the people with a propensity for diabetes also have the following issues to consider..
the numbers tested are not only important for diabetes levels, but having higher sugar levels will also increase the propensity for Alzheimer's. Incremental in number / 10 times more likely.. and depending on the age, by 10% more for each of the higher sustained numbers.. (my listening numbers)
SO where we have the diabetes book to follow, maybe that is not even the issue for those GENO TYPES that have Diabetes in their future..Alzheimers is! Like young people who measure as Gatherers should be much more willing to look at diabetes factors MUCH EARLIER.. decades earlier..
Like looking at their grandparents and great-grandparents and superimposing their diabetes and Alzheimers issues in the young will make a big difference...
When I was young I focused on cancer as that was my moms history.. instead I should have looked at my father.. or his parents.. sorry to say, I lived 3000 ,iles away and did not see them get sick, nor EVER thought about that side of the family HISTORY!!!!
So this is a thread where I would test all children at 18 for genetics and if they are PRONE to diabetes then assume that they will get it .. the question is only when!!!
The foods available to each of the BTD/GENO susceptible groups are wide and far enough so that 18 year olds would not have to feel deprived as they would not have to be TOOOOO strict.. but every bit of understanding and learning about food and even testing early in life every birthday would not hurt..
Another test should be made every time they get sick, as that is a time the sugar numbers hows up years earlier with a good indicator of status and propensity for later..
I would have been willing to make a difference even 15 years ago at the beginning of BTD but even then no one realllllly advised how assuredly I could count on becoming diabetic even with BTD and later develope Alzheimers!..
I know that BTD pushed out diabetes for some years, but never the less I was NEVER made aware.. as much as I should have..
THAT it was INEVITABLE..... AND NOT MY FAULT!!!!!!!! AFTER ALL I had given up all sorts of carbs, dairy and grains and many sweets 30 years ago.. THINKING that that made a difference or at least would make a difference later WEIGHT-WISE... WELL time has past AND it seemingly was NOT enough!!
When diabetes is in your future, please heed what I am saying above and think of Alzheimers too..
I have many times explained that I have done the best I knew and as much as anyone for over 30 years.. gladly having removed many many kinds of foods that would have hurt me much more.. BUT It's not about just doing that..
MAYBE it would really be beneficial to us who now have Diabetes, that WE ALSO strengthen our ability to prevent ALZHEIMERS... why wait until we have it... PREVENTION is the operative word NOW..
The Cost of Alzheimer's is way to great for us, not to look at the dire prognosis either now or later.. the guarantee that we will get ALZHEIMERS is as much assured as was diabetes years ago predicted by BTD for diabetes and NOW in Gathers and other GENO types.
Being Gatherer now means DIABETES prevention NOW to prevent ALZHEIMERS later.. It's seemingly nearly unavoidable.. but PREVENTABLE for years if we FACE IT NOW! doing that which we need to do.. including NAP supplements to help us along the way! THIS has to BECOME a long time, long term plan..
Reducing damaging foods is one thing.. but understanding even the influences of healthy foods like fruits (even without grains, nor avoid dairy) is not enough.. we need to become much more PROACTIVE and see diabetes as just one more sign of how we perceive the world of foods.. IT'S dangerous territory.. and we need to learn...and learn now.

I wish I had KNOWN this YEARS ago.. but now that science is telling us more about this, WE can make a difference.. in us and in the next generations.. 3 generations going either way!
