Well...since this thread, interestingly, I had no further nose bleeds for two weeks until last Wed morning - what is it about Wednesdays and then I had two short ones both in the one morning but I could tell that I was clotting more easily...

Had recommenced taking quercetin, so that no doubt helped, but was at that stage waiting till more Vit C arrived at work (I can only take the natural ones - not corn derived)

Well then no more nose probs until just yesterday despite taking Vit C since after last Wednesday's one...& this was a much more troublesome one that took ages to clot & I felt really weak & nearly fainted...

Other thing to report is that over the past few weeks I have had two separate episodes of my left peripheral vision being fuzzy; like there is a really faint blurring to the edge of it??!!! Not sure if this is related in any way & am making plans to get it checked out...
May need to make a trip back to Aus soon & get a full medical...Would cost hundreds here by the time I add up all that I want to check out & all free or very heavily subsidised back there!!

Mr P!!!!! Oh well, he must have his good reasons not to chose sunny Qld!!!

If they are on your bene lists, make sure you include some of those good old vit K greens!!  There are so many ways to disguise them if you do not like them!!  Think, if you had to feed them to your baby kids in order to make them better, how will you cook them?  Sometimes it is easier to think what we will do for others than relate them to ourselves ... Might get vit k eating inspired that way ...

Oh it's not a case of not being inspired I love my greens - just not sure they love me quite so much...

I am working through issues of salicylates, amines and glutamate & oxalates - as well as fructose malabsorption (along with TJ & policychecker) so I am not loading up on fruit & vegs till I work out what in particular is upsetting me!!

I am also trying to work out why I am so deficient in iron when I eat plenty of meat... hence the detective work - 'cos as you know, oxalates bind the iron & cause you not to absorb it

Environmental change. if you smell dampness that is a warning. air the rooms to the extreme. also remember that if you have been being compliant your blood would naturally thin, i imagine.

if you have started something new recently like the oils tablets stop them. double check their compliance. be thorough you suss it out - but i ask one thing do not underestimate the air quality issue. damp, mold, anywhere in a house will eventually get to your nose and cause problems. do you have a basement?

I have always gotten nosebleeds. Not very serious - just chronic. I wondered why, but its not much of an isue because it not like a dripping faucet. My mother has the same problem and we are both type A.

I get them too.  They started when I was 20 and I thought they might stop with the BTD, but they didn't.

You might think that we As with thick blood wouldn't have as many nosebleeds.  It seems to me a long time ago somebody (maybe I myself) made a poll about blood types and nosebleeds.

getting enough lysine to absorb iron?

for iron levels
the Blood Building Protocol is great
Vitamin C helps you absorb iron, drinking some citrus juice along with the floradex may help
Quoted Text
Dr D
"For individuals with iron deficient anemia, taking iron supplementation with a dose of Proberry will increase its absorption!"

Serum Ferritin levels can be raised most successfully with a combined therapy
of Ferrous Glycine Sulphate, Vitamin C, L-Lysine and Vitamin B12.
copper plays a key role in the absorption of iron from the intestines, try
adding some foods high in copper

heal the gut, heal the thyroid
(sound familiar? ), enhance absorption of all nutrients including Iron.....

Distraction is a very important part of illness.  It keeps me from wanting to stick my head in the creek.

After being plagued with nosebleeds last year I decided to apply calendula gel inside each nostril morning and night.  Haven't had a nosebleed since.

All of the before exposed sounds good, but, go to the doctor, get a complete blood test: Fe, Ca, hormons, inmune system, platelets, sugar, and so on. And best if you get your blood presure, and a urine test. 20 minuts losing blood it's a lot of blood, and it isn't the first time

lilith - they are not lasting 20 mins now...Tonight I forgot to watch how I sneezed & had a small one All fixed up within 5-10 mins

I put another piece to the puzzle today... I have only been having these episodes since starting to take fish oils & they can thin your blood right?

I'm not sure, but the first post you posted,I thought "Wow that's a lot of blood thinners for an O." Maybe you might try to cut back on doses or rotate, not take all in the same day.

Hope you get it figured out

Take care Debbie

Yeah I so didn't think when I started that supplement - it was an all in one But I stopped real soon after I started the nosebleeds... now I am not even sure re taking fish oil itself, as it is a blood thinner for O's isn't it? As is Vit K...so if I do up my intake of that, aren't I fighting fire with fire?

Talking about fire...here was me thinking all was fine after I had that one last night but reality was I got to bed & later (this is unfortunate & a tad embarrassing to report) while breathing just a little heavier than normal my nose started up again...& then after it stopped I could feel pounding in my ears for quite a while   I will get my blood pressure checked but I have never really had anything except normal or low...

I have an appointment to see a naturopath on Monday btw
