Ruthiegirl, I was just posting almost the exact same thing on another thread. I use Agave syrup instead of Stevia. It is my favorite treat |

Hi Ruthie girl,
If you crave cocoa when you are premenstrual you may just be craving the magnesium in the cocoa.
You can test that by taking magnesium as in the Phytocal supps. |

Goldie, glad my experience rang a bell with you.
As a baby I was already hungry all the time. So much so, my mother didn't know what to do. So she called the pediatrician and he said to give me an egg every day!
Wise piece of info in those days 1948! Fat and protein. Luckily I wasn't allergic to eggs. |

Oh, right. Stevia isn't OK for nonnies, but I'm pretty sure I'm a secretor so that's what I'm following for now. I'd suggest agave or molasses, or a mixture of the two since you can't have stevia- just be careful with portion sizes. It's easy to overdo the sugar if you're not careful.
I do take magnesium citrate every night, plus cal/mag/zinc every morning. I wonder if I should increase the amount of mag when I'm premenstrual. Chocolate is yummy even if I'm getting enough magnesium! |

I can not have choc any more.. as of late.. and today I had a piece of choc with filling in my mouth.. but after a few seconds I had to spit it out// no need to swallow it.. it will end up in the same place, but without doing harm.. After having learned that I am not to have it for diabetes my mind has accepted that fact in its essence but not yet in my eye hand to mouth motion. I am still working on my eyes waning more than I want.. Luckily I have no need to substitute sugars with sugars.. its possible for me sometimes to replace a avoid with a beneficial, like prunes right now work that way for me. The weakness is always with ice cream.. or pizza.. but pizza is now a real seldom- seldom food.. my mind is working on that.. Ice cream is somewhat different.. It's not the sugar in it, its the cold or the smooth or the liquid.. I have not figured it out yet.. but I am working on that darn addiction.. I think I need to look at getting benef. berries.. they might work in a smoothie??? yes I will try.. |

Hi ruthiegirl,
Chocolate IS yumm! I love it.
If you crave it however, there may be more of a need for magnesium. Chocolate also has an antidepressive effect. That may be another reason for craving it premenstrually.

my post of June 5th is nearly increadable.. its not even a month later but the desires for some foods mentioned are so much less.. the mind is adjusting to the loss on some items choc pizza in the still new for now food list.. Drinking tea some say flushes out easy, while coffee has to go through the liver and then it needs the stress of cleaning it self.. |

"I think O's and Gatherers are the hungriest people on the forum" this so made me laugh and cry The ONLY thing that works for me when I get that "I GOTTA EAT SOMETHIN" feeling, is to run, ruun like Forrest Gump. I have a room with no furniture that I run the perimeter like a crazy person until my hunger calms down. |
