So what does it matter when we eat sugar / fruit/ choc ? What matters about it? Better to eat it with meat as part of a meal Or later in the day as dessert ?
Does eating certain items make a difference in different times of the day?
It is about time or calories?
How can one neutralize 'over indulgence? |

Yes to both! Don't over indulge (or pay for it by expending calories some how)! |

At the start of our journey to figure out the correct diet, i first looked into food combining and kept coming across stuff saying that fruit was best eaten on an empty stomach, after checking the science, some think that is right some dom't i tried it for several months (this a while agao) - results not conclusive, did it mess up Emily's system, maybe - do i do it now no. Emily used to love getting up early with me and having fruit together first thing in the morning - this was very early on before we knew not to eat oranges and apples etc. so not a good example of a test case.
I think if you follow the BTD you don't need to worry because it sorts itself out. and it doesn't fit with you your body tells you because its got the time and energy to let you know. you just have to learn how to listen to your body properly. which can be a steep curve to start with. |

As far as calories go... don't count. If you really have the urge to count something in your day, count "times that someone complained" that could be corrected by following their BTD/GTD. lol
As an A I find that eating fruit with anything is fine. Peaches with dinner... seriously. I now eat whatever in whatever order I feel like and my body is happy all the same, just as long as I am eating the right foods for me.
If you feel like eating prunes and they are there and prunes are on your list of things to eat- go for it! If you have some chocolate and it's also on your eat list and you feel like eating that - eat that too!
I used to think food combining was a good idea. That was when I used to eat dairy. I knew that if I ate fruit and had dairy with it, it would give me irritable bowel! So now I eat my diamond foods and my highly beneficial, my neutrals and eat them in whatever combination I darn well feel like it. And I feel AMAZING! |

You being a diabetic needs to space these apart, from each other, so you don't get a glucose high. |

You can eat a green pepper, a carrot, s small sweet potato (or half if large) cooked in bullion, can have the veggies in chunks or can puree in blender, all and all it is not too much for a meal, sounds like your glucose may be dropping, so adding extra will help you raise it some. Also, after having and waiting fifteen minutes if you still don't feel much better, have a piece of fruit, or 1/2 cup of fruit juice. This is important Joli. |

1 skinney carrot 1 finger size sweetpotatoe 1 slice of green and red pepper.. this is why I say increase your vegetables, the amounts are so tiny, I don't even think it would add up to 15 carbs, at a meal, and the least should be 30-45, so what I said is if the increased amount of vegetables, don't make you feel better, to add the fruit, but if you just don't want any fruit, you would have to increase your veggie servings, again, when glucose drops.
Does this explain it to you, if not ask again to make me understand it better. |

Gemini Sue I don't have the glucose drop that I know of.. at least I don't feel it.. so its not connecting..
I am more interested in the meat and veg if I don't cheat.. to me right now all sugar is cheating.. including the above as they are not super benficials in the diabetic book..
I am so wanting to lose weight, and the more I stray from the narrowest path I struggle more.
To me its like you say I need to eat sweets.. just to balance the insulin .. which I thought I did not make enough of??
confusing.. but I know it will take me some time to sort things out.. the mind often does not follow the body.. and a certain word suddenly makes sense where it did not before.. bear with me or give up.. thanks ,, thanks again ,,
I wonder if everyone else has these issues?? of not understanding?? |
