Hi all you O nonnies out there, I have two older siblings that I suspect are both type O non-secretors.
Both sisters are for sure type O and neither one of them are big on eating wheat. THANK GOODNESS. Here's the story.
Sister number one is 52 years old and looks great for her age, but has some issues with inflammation. In particular her liver enzymes are mildly elevated and a liver biopsy showed some inflammation. The doc put her on 20 mg prednisone and told her the results of the biopsy were somewhat inconclusive. I suspect that she is most likely a GT4 Explorer, based on her blood type and having liver issues. Her diet is actually pretty decent (red meat, fish, poultry, so plenty of animal proteins), but she is somewhat indulgent of dairy. Really likes milk, cheeses, and yogurt. She takes soy supps on occasion to help with menopause, which I have tried to discourage her from doing. But thankfully she is willing to try bioidentical hormones. She does not have any weight problems at all.
Sister number two is a train-wreck. She is 49 and has autoimmune nephritis caused by anti GBM, an autoantibody that attacks the basement membrane in the glomerulus (kidney). She has had this for 13 years now and will hopefully be getting a kidney transplant when the time is right. Her diet is pretty restricted right now because of minimal renal function. Like many of the type O's here, she sort of ate like a vegetarian long before she became sick. Anyway, now she eats more like a type O should and does better despite eating a bit more protein for impaired renal function. She, BTW also has no weight issues either. And I suspect that she is probably an Explorer, due to many allergies to drugs and supplements. Despite having so many health issues she looks great and is able to get a good amount of exercise, but she has to avoid the sun because of a lupus like syndrome.
How that you all have my family hx, my questions are for the O nonnies here. What foods and or supps do you eat or take that keeps your immune function on an even keel and minimizes inflammation, allergies and autoimmune disorders? Besides wheat, corn and dairy what other foods are bad for inflammation in an O nonnie?
Going back to the BT Encyclopedia larch, and astralagus are the best "I don't know specifically what you need, but you had better start supplementing" supplements. I mention these, but I may not be out of the woods in terms of autoimmune issues myself. Perhaps Lola or another knowledgeable O nonnie Explorer will give you more specific advice to test.
Good thing about the bioidentical hormones. That is a system you want to keep healthy!

first and foremost make sure they re both Os and if possible, find out their secretor status.....then go from there and determine their GT..... I suspect if interested, they might then want a swami..... can t get more personalized than that!!!

Both of my sisters are open to trying new things that will improve their health. Thankfully neither of them are big bread or wheat eaters. I doubt either of them would be willing to change their diets over to BTD cold turkey, but at least knowing what foods are the best and worst for O nonnies is a start in the right direction.
