I took a Lewis test from my blood central, I've been a blood donor but now I cannot give blood because of fibromyalgia. Is there anyone else that have fibromyalgia who know their secretor status (or Lewis) or are anyone with non-secretor status having certain health problems?
Became sick with fibromyalgia year 2001. Now after searching for correlations between blood groups I became interested in this again and have read some about secretor status and some suspectibility to get certain diseases. I then took Lewis blood test which came out Le(a-b-). Some things about autoimmune disease, I have diagnosed fibromyalgia and recurrant urine tract infections is something I think I can recognise from the stuff I have read about being a non-secretor. I also have stomach problems ("bubbly" stomach) when I eat bread for instance. But then I also read about having green eyes means being a secretor. I have not been saliva tested yet.
What about Lewis Le(a-b-) generally are considered non secretors. What does it mean, does it mean that I do not need to take secretor test after all?
Do you all "nonnies" know that being a non-secretor also means being protected from most common strings of noroviruses, do not know what you call it in english but in Sweden it is called "winter vomiting disease". |

Welcome to the forums, Vista! A fellow A nonnie here. If you follow the A non-secretor diet you may find some of those fibromyalgia symptoms going away. I was diagnosed 10 years ago and when I started the diet 4 years ago (entirely and completely--none of this gradual stuff ) within days my fibromyalgia symptoms were gone. They only returned when I ate a plant from the nightshade family (potatoes, peppers, eggplant and, to a much lesser degree, tomatoes). What kind of bread gives you bubbly stomach? Any wheat bread? |

Yes, thankyou Lola for your answers. And thankyou Maria Giovanna and Ribbit. I have been on a diet called Low Carb High Fat, LCHF for having weight problems since I cannot exercise enough due to my fibromyalgia. I got better in my stomach when stopped eating rice, potatoes, bread and food with a lot of carbohydrates. I have noticed that when I eat white bread especially I get these stomach problems. Do you get any reactions and what reactions, how do you react? I can eat tomatoes and red pepper as well as green and yellow pepper and also I do not feel bad from meat which some complain about.

Hi Vista, as an A nonnie you can eat tomatoes and peppers, as well as lamb and mutton meat. Wheat and white rice are not your friend as carbos rich food , but the issues with Wheat Germ Agglutinine WGA and wheat gluten are worst for your metabolic rate and your weight as for fibromyalgia. Meat (grass fed) and fish (wild and not farmed) are good for you though beef and pork are avoids, with huge sidedish of veggies and fruit. Hope it helps ! |
