I have to agree with jeanb - no grain, no sugar and lots of exercise makes the weight drop off! (emphasis on vegetables and protein with some sweet potato for carbs and some nuts for fiber and lots of water between meals.) |

Sticking compliantly with the diet, exercise (with sweating as jeanb points out is a must) and the rebounder (mini-trampoline) as Lola mentioned. And yes...plenty of water and liquids (teas, etc) as RH posted. GTD-2 is what Isa mentioned and genotype (the sequel) diet 2 is the gatherer. Debra |

I just started an exercise called "T-Tapp." I have the book and a couple of DVD's. After reading and viewing everything, I decided that I need a trainer (luckily there was one in my area) that specializes in T-Tapp because the moves involved are very important to burn fat. I take a class once a week. I am very familar with the concept of isometric used in this type of exercise and thought I would finally give it a shot. Several ladies on my thyroid group are using this and are getting good results.

Can O-nons give me...what was best for weightloss?
I'm fat now but I do, paradoxically, know what works, believe it or not. So, take this for what it is worth to ya: P-Twist's Top Five What-Works-for-O-Nons Weight Loss Tips: 1. If you really want to lose weight, go grain-free. Focus on veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds in place of grains. This is an ideal, mind you, because going grain-free takes a lot of focus and discipline, not to mention planning. But as an ideal suggestion for what works, you can't beat it for O non weight loss, it is right up there with... 2. Exercise your b*tt off, literally. It doesn't necessarily have to be strenuous exercise, it just has to be exercise. And plenty of it. 3. Make sure to get plenty of protein each day to keep you steady and minimize cravings. 4. Fruit smoothies. Blend up your fave 100% juices and fruits in the blender (duh, Edna, what else would she blend 'em up in!) and not only will you have a chi-filled, wondermous replacement for grains in your diet, but you will have ENERGY out the wazoo! 5. Eat homemade food whenever possible and focus on pure, whole foods versus processed items. |

I would be very careful with that. Fruit smoothies have too much sugar in it (from the fruit), it could spike your blood sugar and result in cravings for more sugar. Try 'green' smoothies instead - e.g. one banana, one avocado and any greens you have. |

yes it didn't make sense cos Isa is AB and Im a hunter - or did she mean try gatherer anyway doesn't matter. I have decided to try as much as possible to listen to my body and keep in touch with it. I have been reading about how diet and excersize have a very small factor in weightloss as compared with whats between your ears and I feel at peace that everything will be ok. Thanks everyone for the amazing advice - How are you all feeling? Are you 100% happy with your diets and foods and bodies and right now? hearing about your stories really helps me more than anything, your personal experiences - I love to hear |

The avoid list mentions not to have brewed coffe - but are we allowed turkish coffee or instant? And it says table red wine - but what kind of table red wine - there are millions of kinds - does it just mean plain? since there are so many flavoured wines around? When swami comes out - is that meant to tell you exactly what's best just for you as an individual? I am trying to work that out now - listening to my body so as not to stress anymore. This morning I had a glass of prune juice and a few almonds with coconut oil. It took a bit of the edge for wanting a coffee which is good. but I think the coffee is more of a comfort food and what I associate it with. I hated it as a child but loved it later on in life espcially after starting to drink turkish coffee with friends in croatia I started getting addicted - even a week ago after not having it for about a year - I just had to go and get some and I think I was just missing my friends or the fun times I associated it with - I pray I will get to that point that a lot of people are at that dont drink coffee or dont like coffee and are able to listen to their bodies. God give me the grace to eat the right foods and look after my body and help me to give all my worries to you and stop feeling insecure about food or my body. Amen.
O - non's what do you love eating the most out of the beneficials of the diet? what is a day of your diet like? I started eating parsley again - but it wasn't allowed on the genotype diet. I love Tarragon - Id never used it before - now Im adding it to so much + basil and oregano. I've been trying to get some oregano oil - but still haven't found it. |

all coffee is meant by this.... all red wine, not a specific brand.... I buy all diamond foods I can find, and create menus with those.......I find there are many to choose from, and do not feel deprived, on the contrary, I now have paneer every day, with my fruit, and add seeds and cereal to that, which is a big step away from my protein, veggie breakfast I used to have in the past, being a nonnie. I also always have grains for lunch with my veggies and my protein, which truly keeps me happy! and I also have a daily serving of focaccia! but am not having anything BT superbeneficial, that s no longer on my GT diamond list......(like mangoes and avocados and red wine ) but hey, you can t have it all, right? we all tweak our plans, according to our needs, and on how we feel. so depending on your BT/GT system you want to follow, just create menus with the foodlists you have available, and have fun! |

Are you not worried that it is quite restrictive to only eat diamonds? I can't imagine that this is what Dr. D. meant (maybe I am wrong). |

I do not feel restricted, that s the thing, besides it s much easier for me to go shopping and plan meals..... I feel very satisfied and not having any cravings at all is a sign for me, that what I m getting in terms of food is more than enough. besides I m eating a larger variety of food then what I ate when following the non secretor O diet.....it feels just right for me, and we are all individuals and choose our plans according to our needs. I m in no way saying everyone should eat the way I choose to eat! but my body and mind are very pleased with my selection, so far. |

the iodine patch test was an eyeopener ..... I now draw a patch daily as well as adding kelp and seaweed in my meal plans. NAP has fucus http://www.4yourtype.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NP007http://www.4yourtype.com/fucus.asp
Lola is there a article about the 'Iodine patch test' somewhere? I can't keep a stain for more than a couple of hrs and I want to make sure I'm doing it right. Copied the article you linked: Gifts From The Sea: Fucus (Bladderwrack). I know it's written for O's but I figured it's probably good for non-tasters to read too. Any thoughts on that? I noticed there is a link to Histona on the Fucus page. I am planning to order Histona as soon as I can. Thanks |

you mean non secretors? fucus is a great source of iodine for all, and its sugar, fucose is the base of all BT antigens, so it s good for all! Paint a patch of iodine, about the size of a silver dollar, on your abdomen, hips, or buttocks and see how long it stays on. use the serch feature, here s a search I did using 'patch test' http://www.google.com/custom?q.....itesearch=dadamo.com |

Lola - No, I ment non-tasters having low Thyroid function and Fucus being good for that. Because non-tasters are more often Gatherers I tend to read O threads to see if I can gleen helpful information. Not trying to steel their thread. That was a nice article on O's and Fucus (Bladderwack) and how it helps the digestive track of blood type O: " Fucus vesiculosus... "bladderwrack seems to help normalize the sluggish metabolic rate and produce weight loss." ... potential use of this plant for preventing the adherence of some unwanted microorganisms (H. pylori in his book's example) to the cells lining the digestive tract in blood type O's." "fucose is the base of all BT antigens, so it s good for all!" I have bought it and not used it bc it might not be good for A's. Iodine patch - thanks for the link (more homework for me) I scanned it a bit - I was painting a 2" sq and its gone in 2-3 hrs. Be interesting to start taking Fucus and see if there is any change. Thank you |

This is the best way for me to lose weight. I am not fat or even overweight, it's just that I feel better being slim. And I don't even do that much exercise!!
Eat animal protein, vegetables (few of the high carb veg, like carrots, beets etc), little fruit. Less that one piece of fruit a day and even then I choose mainly berries. No beans, no grains except Essene bread for breakfast with protein, usually 1-2 eggs. The proportion of protein to vegetables is important. My plate looks somewhat like this: 1/3 (at least) is protein, 2/3 vegetables.
The thing that really works for me and that satisfies my appetite, is getting enough fat. The good fats. The fat burning fats. I take 2 tbs of Flaxseed oil a day, black currant seed oil (capsules) and coconut oil. I eliminate all the other oils. Olive oil can make you put on weight.
No wine, coffee, sugar of course. Except.... a piece of dark chocolate 75 to 80% cocoa. That is my exception. It is such a pleasure!
Any thoughts anyone? |
