Any nonnies out there dealing with insomnia? If so, what do you do to get a good nights sleep? My problem is not really falling asleep as much as staying asleep. Other than following the diet and exercising, is there something natural I can take?

I find the combo of citrate and oxide to work well...

I also have a triple mag combo of oxide, citrate and glycinate too... very nice....

The triple mag is of a higher grade than the other (thus more expensive). I do not use it as often, though.

I have read that magnesium citrate is the best form of magnesium you can take, because the citric acid is great at dissolving errant calcification in the arteries and tissues, while also killing off errant bacteria and other pathogens in the body.

I also find that getting involved in some truly enjoyable, social activity that has a physical component to it leaves me feeling "satisfied" for the day, and that I am able to fall asleep at night with a "well-fed" nervous system that doesn't stay up at night because it's missed out on a daily quota of fun.

I used just mag citrate for years but I haven't been able to find the citrate available anymore and I have looked at many HFS's here...  

Also... magnesium citrate is the form of magnesium that purportedly can loosen stools. Some folks are real sensitive to the effect (and some people, like me, use it for that effect ) So if loose stools are bothering you with citrate, another form of mag will alleviate that.

Magnesium oxide does this for me, and it works almost instantly. Have to be very careful how much I take and when I take it.

I rarely have trouble sleeping.  I have found that I need to limit any caffeine after about 2 PM (any chocolate in the evening will keep me awake) and not be looking at the computer or television for at least an hour before bed time.  I take my calcium and magnesium and B12 before going to bed.  Perhaps that helps also.

I rarely have trouble getting to sleep but I have a strange thing that happens sometimes. I'm wondering whether it's just me or maybe others have had a similar experience?

I go to bed (anywhere between 9:30 and 11:00pm) and roughly an hour after I go to bed (by which point I must be sound asleep)I either sit up with a jolt or sometimes I actually get out of bed, I'll be confused and distressed and usually say something like "what's going on?", my partner (who finds this quite funny most of the time) will tell me that everything is ok and to go back to sleep, which I do, although sometimes I get angry with him and say that 'it's not alright' and I'll be struggling to try to explain why something is wrong but can never come up with a reason. Sometimes I don't know that I've done it unless my partner tells me about it in the morning and then other times I will have some vague recollection and I will ask if I did anything, to which the reply is yes, you got up and said or did ....

I expect that it is a manifestation of stress (I have adrenal exhaustion) and it's not something that really bothers me too much, I just find it weird and perplexing.

melatonin might help regulate your circadian rhythm as well as B12, the active form......check the link I gave here above.
