Hi Everyone,

I guess I am still in shock that I am a non secretor because I just went through the old archives to read the old posts on green eyes being equated with secretor status. Here is one of my old posts from 2001

Dr D says Green eyes -likely secretor

In Response To: A+ non-secretors, asthma, tooth decay (Brian Sandle (A+))

Hi Brian,
If you search the archives, on October 17, 2000, Dr D. posted 2 messages that green eyed persons are likely secretors. He cites his sources for this conclusion.

If you type in green eyes and secretors there are many posts that will appear. I did not find Dr D's post though. I would have loved to reread it. I have had green eyes all my life and I just assumed I was a secretor.

I just cant believe that it took me 8+ years to get my secretor status. I wish I had done it sooner, it is better to know than to guess. It really anwers a lot of questions about my health status.

Are there any other green eyed non secretors out there?

I can't believe I waited eight years to have my test done, either! There were some things that made me believe I was a secretor, but not so! I just recently found out that I am a nonnie. And, like you, it does answer a lot of questions - and I can't say I'm particularly happy with the answers. Especially when the GTD barely mentions non-secretors, and Dr. D. paints such a grim picture for the likes of us.   Good grief, doesn't he know we need a lot of hand-holding??!!

Oh, I forgot to say that my eyes are blue. There are so many things I don't fit that Dr. D. has said   that I'm especially looking forward to further testing when it is available. Actually, I don't think it will change the diet to any great extent for me, but hopefully it will clear up a lot more things.

I'm a green-eyed nonnie!

I also waited a few years, but I'm so glad I got that secretor test.  It changed a lot of things in my diet, as well as helping me understand in no uncertain terms, how crucial it is for me to eat for my type.

When I thought I was a secretor, I was a lot more lax, but non-secretors do not have that lee-way if we want to maintain good health.  It has made all the difference.

I congratulate you, Arlene, for taking this important step!

I certainly agree with the need for non-secretors not be be lax about our diets. Even though I was on the A-type diet for years, there were some things that were doing serious damage to my health - especially corn and corn products, even in small amounts, and uncultured dairy - which was so-called yogurt. I am much, much better now but I realize that I have a ways to go before I am truly healed. I never knew before how wonderful good health really feels. Someone offered me a Snickers candy bar a few days ago and it no more tempted me than grabbing a snake! They were amazed at my total lack of interest! Ah, but if they only knew how I prize this wonderful new feeling!!!

I'd probably go into convulsions if I had a snickers bar.  hehehehehe.  That's what keeps me away.  Although I have to admit.  I eat 1/4 of Paul Newman's chocolate bars some days after dinner.  Mmmmmmmmm..  Chocolate.  But that amount is pretty tame to a snickers bar.  Yuck!!!

I have greeny-blue eyes but not sure about what secretor I am - when I was reading the celiac information in the archives it said celiacs are usually non-secretors so I might be.

Us nonnies can spit and the cops wont be able to figure out our blood type.

Also when those nasty bugs get into a secretors openings, they might be able to battle them before they enter the temple.  But us nonnies let them come in and then attack them with a vengeance!

Also if you get attacked with a knife, youll clot up faster and wont lose as much blood as a secretor will.

Thats all for Nonnie 101.  Follow Lolas posts for a more sophisticated scientific explanation.

I assumed I was a secretor because I have flawless teeth. Nonnies are supposed to have a lot of tooth/gum issues so I thought that chances were good that I couldn't be a non-secretor. I was wrong   I have come to the conclusion that the only way to know for sure is to have the test done.

Do you have green eyes?
Posted By: Peter D'Adamo

Then you are almost certainly an ABH secretor!

Strong evidence exists for linkage of "green eye color" to the Secretor system, suggesting that indivduals with green eyes are much more likely to be secretors of ABH substances.

Thank you to all the green-eyed Nonnies who responded. In my gut I thought there might be a quite a few us of out there. In 2004 I visited a Naturopathic Dr who practiced Iridology. She only believed there were blue eyes or brown eyes. She told me that my green eyes were actually blue eyes that had changed to green from my unhealthy colon. I actually argued with her that my dad and sister both had green eyes and she answered back they both had unhealthy colons. I really didnt let her opinion soak in about the green eyes, but I did purchase a colon cleanse herbs from her.

Could she have been right about green eyes? Might green eyes be a sign of low alkaline phosphatase in an unhealthy colon? Back in 2004 it was at 45 and currently on my last blood test it dropped even further to 35. I am as non secretor as you can get!

The alkaline phosphatase on a lab report is the total level found in the body these sources include liver, bones and blood, only a very small fraction of this is actually IAP. A special test for IAP must be done in order to determine what percent of the total is IAP.

Children and adolescents have values that may be two to three times higher than an adult because growing bones and skeletal tissue produces lots of alkaline phosphatase.
