I'm beginning to think that Highly Sensitive People (non-secretors?) are highly sensitive to electromagnetic frequencies.  Anybody have ideas?  Input?

I don't know if I'm sensitive to them, but they might be sensitive to me.  When I was a kid, I killed a couple of cheap LCD watches just by wearing them.  My dad had the same problem.  Although, if I stepped up to something slightly better than bottom-of-the-barrel, I didn't have that problem, but I wasn't the one buying....

Not a nonnie, but I have a really big and powerful EM field--it tested out to about 18 feet ('normal' for most people is anywhere from 6-12 feet). I kill incandescent light bulbs, have degaussed magnets, and cannot wear a watch ever, because I kill them all. *sigh* I see dead people too, but that's another story.

I have noticed a correlation between strong EM fields and people who have had one or more near-death experiences.

Fascinating...

Does it count if you see brain-dead people (at work)?

Non secretor/highley sensitive/sensitive to EMF

But my mother is a secretor and she is more sensitive to EMF than I am.

Suzanna! I see way too many of those!

There is a good resource book for people who are highly sensitive. The title is Too Loud Too Bright Too Fast Too Tight, by Sharon Heller. Highly recommended.

I'm so glad there are "others" out there like me!

I feel like a human antenna.  I burn up cell phones and the computer mouse.  Just a few weeks ago I started using a wired mouse again because the wireless one was burning my hand every time I used it.

I've mentioned to my family over the years how electrical stuff goes haywire when I use them and they never believed me.  If something stopped working I would call them over to help fix it, but as soon as I moved away from it, it often would be ok so they just thought I wasn't using it correctly.

Do you mind electrical storms?  They really make me feel weird.

Well now I don't feel so freaky anymore since I know I'm not alone with this "gift".

I'm a secretor but would probably classify myself as highly sensitive.

Thunderstorms make me incredibly restless, actually all storms do. But there's an extra added physical feeling. Trying to put it into words...like a shock but not really, like an almost shock, where you can feel current but it's not hurting you, just alarming you.
I never believed people broke watches. Well, I always just reserved judgement, figuring there was more than I understood to the issue.
This is fascinating.
Sharon Heller book title noted, and will check out. thx

I think my children are sensitive.  Something goes on at night.  I wake up first, and within moments one of the older ones will make a little noise in their sleep, indicating that something bothered them, then the baby will wake up.  There was no noise.  No reason to wake up. I wonder if "something" pulsed and jolted us.  Strange.

When we were little, my brothers would always make me hold the top of the TV antenna at my Grandmother's house in a certain, just-right, usually very uncomfortable position, because I was the only one who could hold it so that the channel would come in right.  It was one of those old black-and-white TVs with a floppy antenna.  They said that when I grabbed the top of it, the channel came in.  If they held it, the channel wouldn't come in.  So I was sacrificing my comfort for the good of all, they said.  My husband says they just said all that to make me feel better about being used.     But maybe, just maybe, I conduct better than they did.

"I have a really big and powerful EM field--it tested out to about 18 feet ('normal' for most people is anywhere from 6-12 feet)" Brighid45

How did you test this??

My mom has problems with watches stopping she has about 5 of them and switches them every couple of days because they stop. She is an A. Not sure of her Sec statis

I have had a major problem at work with EMF (lots of PC's 5 in a small area and 2 on each side and two printers behind.)- Doctor recommended putting in a glass jar behind the PC so it would go toward that instead of me.  I have a confort clock and a shield that I wear - and I turn off the lights when it's really bad at work I made it where no lights are on directly over me and I changed out the bulb that is closest to me with a grow light that I picked up at Lowes... that really helped.  Most of my lights at my house have dimmers.

My questions is do you think it is something that accumlates over time.  We have major powerlines in the backyard at my parents house and I think I have just gotten to the point where my body is on overload.  I don't live with my parents anymore but I seem to be happy without the TV on all of the time... that is also EMF for me and when I talk on the cell too long I get irritated.

I felt sick and could only relate it to EMF at work and I still battle it every once in a while.

One more comment on the HSP - I recently began taking Coffea and (Coke) not sure on coke spelling from my doctor to try and help me with some internal stress -  Coffea helped me with the internal stress and coke helped me with my compusive eatting - both which I am still battling.

I am definitely a nonnie and HSP.  I have also wondered about how EMFs affect me. My sister gave me an electric mattress pad and said to turn it off before I got into bed after it had warmed up.  If I even get near it, I would have heart palpatations so I have put it away.  Also I feel funny if I spend too much time in front of the computer.  I don't spend much time on the cell phone and have turned off my cable television so it is rarely on any more. This is an interesting thing to consider.

Calcium regulates our internal electrical system and I know that I have problems using calcium.  I don't know if somehow that is a factor with the EMF sensitivity.  Does anyone else have trouble with their calcium levels?  I believe that heavy metals could possibly be involved also.

I've always equated it to my Magnetic Personality...
Those dreaded plastic cards with the strips seem to get deprogrammed when they stay in my wallet....

For those of you who can sense them though there are some products available these days - though not sure where to find in the States. Get in touch with the BauBiologie.de Group. They used to have an US office in Clearwater, Florida. Here is their US Email: baubiologie@earthlink.net

They sell some switches and outlets in Germany that when you turn it off it completely turns off the circuit back to the breaker so no power loop in the room...Can't quite get to grips as to how it knows to turn back on though as I've yet to tear one apart.

What would a glass jar do?  Why would that help anything?

My husband built a Faraday cage around our bed that we used for a while.  It seemed to help for a few nights (mostly the first), but maybe that was psychological.
